Marvel Snap Conquest Meta Tier List: March 31, 2024 – Reliability is Key

This week, Conquest is... not very different from the Ladder, with one notable exception. It seems the Marvel Snap community has finally found Thanos's weakness! Check out the list here!

Welcome to our Marvel Snap Conquest Meta Tier List! Each week, we review the best decks in the ever-changing Marvel Snap Conquest meta.

This report is dedicated to the Conquest mode and lists the current best decks to run the gauntlet and grab your next Infinity avatar. We also provide a Ranked report, available around the middle of the week based on the latest updates, that highlights the best archetypes for that mode. Looking to figure out the impact of the newly released card or the latest balance changes in Conquest? This is the place to be!

If you are looking for more information about a deck in particular, check out our Archetypes pages, with detailed information about each of the household names in Marvel Snap.

Marvel Snap Conquest Overview

With the Infinity week around, Conquest has been an active mode lately, but it’s not necessarily different compared to the Ranked game mode.

Indeed, Thanos, Destroy, and Discard still sit atop the meta in Conquest, just like they do on the Ladder. Lockdown is the only exception since it’s not part of that mix in Conquest. Instead, Storm and the Guardians of the Galaxy are part of Tier 2 alongside the other decks with lots of success and little reliability.

This is the big tiebreaker in Conquest right now, particularly when it comes to the Infinity league because it requires you to win five matches in a row. Phoenix Force, Silver Surfer, Hela, even Loki or Ongoing Tribunal in the Tier 3 can all earn you your next shiny avatar. However, they also have a slightly higher chance of letting you down at some point and stopping your run after a couple of unfortunate draws in a row.

This is what separates Thanos, Destroy, and Discard from the others this season. Your good hands are worth Snapping, but you don’t have to Retreat with the weaker ones.

The gap between these three and the rest of the meta isn’t that big, although it is a little larger in Conquest compared to Ranked. Still, both Lockdown and Silver Surfer have been on the rise this week, gaining momentum since the OTA on March 21st. If you’re still chasing that five win streak before the end of the season, there seem to be several options you could consider. Hopefully this report helps you make the right choice!

Happy Tier List, everyone!

Disclaimer and Tier Explanations

In order to be featured here, a deck needs to post a win rate north of 52% over more than a hundred Conquest games.

In order to create this chart, den is using data from our Marvel Snap Tracker, as well as other available data online and his own expertise and opinion of respected players. If a deck showed great performances with a very limited presence in the meta, you can find it in the Silent Performers section. That section highlights decks with an excellent Win Rate, but too little of a sample size to be representative of their real strength.

Decks not good enough to be considered contenders but with a good representation will be ranked in Tier 3 in our chart. See those builds as decks that are good to know about, as you should face them when playing Marvel Snap. However, unless the meta changes or a new variation of the build emerges, these decks are a notch below the dominant ones in Tiers 1 and 2.

Silent Performer: Decks with a very little presence in the meta that still showcase a Cube Average and Win Rate worthy of a Tier 2 deck (or better). Oftentimes, these can be archetypes with some nice game play that have been left unchecked in the current environment, or decks on the rise that found a few good match ups to abuse.

Tier 1: Tier 1 represents decks with all the upsides we would be looking for to run the gauntlet. They have good match ups in the current meta, offer different play patterns during a match, and often have the ability for explosive or surprising turns. These should be decks worth investing into in order to climb for the coming week.
Win Rate > 60%

Tier 2: Tier 2 are very good decks but with a weakness holding them back – either not being as reliable in its draws as Tier 1 decks, countered by another popular deck, or still being a work in progress as you read this. A good pilot could probably take these and have the same results as with a Tier 1 deck, but their play patterns are more difficult to enact compared to the tier above.
Win Rate > 56%

Tier 3: This tier is made of decks that have a pervasive issue compared to Tier 1 or Tier 2 decks. Usually, Tier 3 will be a mix of decks on the rise that don’t have much data, old archetypes on the decline, decks that require substantial experience and/or knowledge to pilot properly, powerful decks that aren’t well positioned, or niche decks.
Win Rate > 52%

Budget: Decks that consist only of cards in Pool 1 and 2 that are still capable of competing with an experienced pilot in a similar Collection Level, Rank, and MMR range. See our matchmaking guide for more details.

The ability to adapt to any kind of opponent is the true essence of being a great deck in Conquest. Thanos, with enough development capacity to challenge most decks while packing Mobius M. Mobius, Shang-Chi, and/or Alioth, just ticks all the boxes you could think of.

The nerf in the last OTA made the deck worse, but, with a staggering Win Rate of 67%, Thanos is still the undisputed king of Marvel Snap – especially in Conquest.

Potential Additions

It is hard to recommend anything specific considering how strong this list looks. Professor X was a card, but War Machine makes it way worse right now. Unless you hold a card in high esteem, or if you want to gain an edge against a specific match up, there isn’t a particular card to recommend.

While predictability can be a huge problem in Conquest, it isn’t so bad when you can also rely on early Snaps. Indeed, while some decks will be easy to punish (sometimes missing a certain card immediately tells you their hand is sub-par), Destroy tends to work the other way. You can’t necessarily Snap them if you don’t see Deadpool early unless you have Mobius M. Mobius to cancel out Death. On the other hand, you can be sure they will Snap you when Deadpool shows up on the first turn.

Compared to other archetypes in need of drawing specific cards, Destroy seems to be able to get away with its sub-par draws, and it still brings a lot of pressure when they draw the good stuff.

Potential Additions

Shang-Chi really looks like the twelfth card you want in your deck in Conquest, even if Arnim Zola or Alioth are considerations in that slot.

Discard lost a bit of momentum in the Ranked mode; Lockdown even stole the last spot on the podium from Dracula and Apocalypse. In Conquest, though, the deck remains a force with a 63% Win Rate using the featured list. Nonetheless, it still might have lost some of that threatening aura it had heading into this season.

Now, the question heading into the next season is whether this is due to a lack of surprise that limits how impactful their Snaps can be, or if the meta is a little worse for the deck this time around.

Potential Additions

Miek and Colleen Wing are two routine inclusions in Discard. However, Helicarrier seems particularly good in Conquest to bring some welcome unpredictability to the deck.

With a bigger emphasis around Nimrod now that both Shuri and Iron Lad are part of the deck, Phoenix Force managed to find more reliability. Basically, picking this deck signals that you believe you can regularly beat your opponent in the points department since this is really the only strategy Phoenix Force has to offer. Until now, the deck wasn’t doing so well in Conquest because it was so predictable, but the Win Rate was much better this week at around 58%.

My guess is that you want to play the most reliable list in Conquest and be ready to Snap aggressively whenever your early draws allow you to do so.

Potential Additions

The Living Tribunal or Shang-Chi are typically used instead of Iron Lad to improve either the points potential or counter ability of the deck. I would keep the 6-Cost card for the Ranked mode, but Shang-Chi should be a fine replacement if you are missing Iron Lad.

Lockdown did great in Ranked this week, and a 58% Win Rate over several hundred games in Conquest is nothing to be ashamed of. Plus, there is a good chance War Machine releasing at the start of the Infinity League hurt Lockdown’s ability to limit the opponent’s plays.

Something I’m curious about is the fact the best performing list is the same as before the Guardians of the Galaxy were buffed, which did significantly worse in the Ranked mode.

Potential Additions

Rocket Raccoon, Star-Lord, Drax, and/or Gamora all see play in the archetype depending on how you want to build your deck. They all typically help bring more points to leverage priority for Alioth later on.

Glenn Jones reported that this particular build of Silver Surfer was the worst match up for Thanos, which naturally raises the stock of this deck.

Points wise, it is hard to go much further with Silver Surfer. You have Wong, Mystique, and Odin in order to boost the ability of your signature card, or Hazmat if you go for the disruptive route. It seems like the biggest obstacle for this Silver Surfer list is either dodging Alioth or dodging the Ongoing hate cards that could turn Wong off. Also, even if Mobius M. Mobius isn’t featured much this week, I didn’t have a particular great time using Sera when I tested the deck for this report.

Potential Additions

Hope Summers or another strong 3-Cost card can always be a consideration in Silver Surfer. Otherwise, strong On Reveal abilities should also be worth considering in this particular list.

Hela and Lockjaw have been pretty quiet during the entirety of the season. Hela looks like a back up Discard deck if you don’t enjoy the Apocalypse build, and Lockjaw has all but disappeared.

This week, the duo managed to post a 56% Win Rate in Conquest, which shows they still have a bit of gas in the tank (especially when it comes to scaring their opponent with a Snap heading into Turn 6).

The situation isn’t so different compared to the rest of the season. Traditional Discard with Dracula remains a better performer compared to Hela. But, if you missed Hela and Lockjaw together, it seems like you could give it another shot and still find some success.

Potential Additions

Armor and Zabu are two cards you could consider in this deck. Armor stops Alioth from being a problem for Hela on Turn 6, and Zabu helps smooth the curve a bit with the deck’s three important 4-Cost cards.

Conquest seems to be a mode more suited to Loki’s strengths, as the card ensures you quickly know everything about your opponent’s deck. However, unless you manage to derail their game plan with a Rogue, Cable, or Shang-Chi, it is hard to rely solely on what the Trickster God gives you from their deck.

Indeed, ever since Good Cards started struggling and more synergistic decks (like Discard, Destroy, and Thanos) took over, Loki has had a difficult time turning a big point deficit around on the last turn of play. You could consider the 55% Win Rate either as a sign of Loki‘s struggles currently, or a sign of how the deck still manages to stay afloat in a bad meta.

There aren’t many Ongoing hate cards going around lately (although Alioth can still be a problem for this deck). In Conquest, I would have liked to see Cosmo included to help with that, but it seems like the explosive patterns brought by Mister Negative and the other cost reducers in the deck are enough to play around the biggest threats. A 54% Win Rate isn’t stellar, but it’s also not so bad for a deck with only one game plan available.

Just like in the Ranked mode, there is little support for the hype War Machine received ahead of its release. The card is surely decent, and it looks like a fine fit for the Good Cards Black Knight deck, but it doesn’t seem to have made the archetype a powerhouse yet.

While Pure Evolutionary was the better High Evolutionary deck in the Ranked mode, InSheNaut stayed true to its reputation with a solid performance in Conquest. The 53% Win Rate isn’t the archetype’s all-time best performance by any means, but this list is intriguing. Indeed, this is a deck I had not seen when looking at the Ranked data, but War Machine seems to push InSheNaut towards more disruption with Storm and Legion now included in the mix.

Closing Words

The Infinity league revealed the power of the Silver Surfer deck more than anything, and I’ve seen many people report they successfully ran the gauntlet using it. However, even if we finally found a bad match up for Thanos, it seems like we will have to wait a bit longer until the Mad Titan relinquishes its grasp over the Marvel Snap meta. Plus, even though Thanos is a nice match up, Destroy is a much more difficult opponent because they tend to leave few cards on the board, which limits how effective the Hazmat part of the deck can be.

Discard is an interesting archetype to look at; it lost some momentum in the Ranked mode and fell to third in Conquest, which means it did worse than Destroy in both game modes. Don’t get me wrong, Dracula and Apocalypse are still doing great, certainly worthy of being included in Tier 1, but through spotting these little cracks we’ll be able to change the meta… eventually.

Now we can turn our attention to the new season that is starting soon, and the cards that will join the game in April. Baron Zemo could be a great addition to a Conquest-specific deck. Indeed, it looks like a card with plenty of upsides when you know what is in your opponent’s list.

As usual, feel free to leave a comment or reach out on the Marvel Snap Zone community Discord for any questions. You can also use my Twitter page, where I share decks and biased opinions about the game, to get in touch.

Good Game Everyone.
