At the start of December, it really felt like the game started to happen. The largest drop of cards we will probably ever see in Marvel Snap happened, followed by an arms race to gather different cards and begin to build decks which took advantage of them and changed the meta.
Back in the before times, I took a look at each card and tried to apply a potential score. Today I want to go back through the cards and look at what they have done and try foolishly to update the tier list based on these scores. For the previous version of the tier list with a preliminary review and ratings before the cards were released, check here:
She-Hulk 🔼
She-Hulk fits well into Destroy decks as expected, with Wave setting up the combo effectively. What wasn’t clear was how good the other ways of using the her would be. Turns out almost every deck she is in has been effective. It would not be a stretch at this stage to say she is one of (if not the best) 6 drop in the game.
To abuse her is not that difficult either, Wave on 5 makes her cost 2 on the final turn. Moon Girl on 4 then skip Turn 5 makes two of them cost 1 each on 6. The real reason she continues to be rated so highly is her build around requirement is “play a Marvel Snap deck which would like to be able to play a 6 drop with 10 energy you can play any turn after turn 3” (skipping turn 3 makes her cost 3 the following turn, you do “spend” 6 energy though to do this). Due to this you can see her pop up in all sorts of decks and as more people get to test the effectiveness of these strategies her stock will likely rise.
Now, she doesn’t fit in every deck but once this card is in your collection, she is worth considering as a part of any deck you are building.

Absorbing Man 🔽

Absorbing Man has proven to be consistent and useful for all players who have accessed it. This card can be used in any deck which has On Reveal effects it plays which would be nice to play twice. That’s a lot of potential decks. However in reality, his energy cost makes him at times awkward to use and this has limited the uptake of Absorbing Man decks.
He continues to deserve the high rating as with time the cards potential only expands with new cards. However, he has seen limited application in successful decks to this point. We don’t expect this to continue.
Rating
Titania 🔽

Titania has seen limited uptake however she remains a 1 energy, 5-Cost card. She is a difficult card to play at times which limits her ceiling. Played early she can be a liability and often opponent lanes are not set to be blocked by her effect early enough. This means to use her consistently we need a larger supporting package, or she must be played as the last card. Both these options are still strong but limit her rating significantly.
She has seen success in several shells such as Flood, Zero and Lockation and as more players get a hold of this card, we should see more inclusions for Titania. The card is still incredibly flexible, allowing for 5 drop + 5 power plays on turn 6, as well as some tech play earlier in the game.
Rating
Luke Cage 🔼

Luke Cage has still not found it’s home, but the continued experimentation has led to a higher rating of the card than before its release. As more players get the card, leaning less into the Luke Cage effect and using the card more as a supporting piece or high roll is having more success. This is a good sign for the longevity of the card.
He may not be the centre of a deck as the full Hazmat combo as proved to be inconsistent, but his role within Zero and Cerebro decks going forward could be impactful. Cerebro in particular seems underexplored, it removes all the debuffs returning our cards to one power level. Unfortunately, the big downside of being 2 energy for 1 power remains and should not be undersold. This is still significant and limits the number of places players want to try Luke Cage.
Rating
Agent Coulson 🔼

Agent Coulson has proven to be the strongest of the S.H.I.E.L.D. cards. At 3 energy for 4 power he is on rate for the energy and adds two strong potential options for both 4 and 5 energy. This synergizes with handlock strategies and provides potential options for on curve. This means Agent Coulson is solid value and could potentially be a go to fill card for many decks. Given the solid value, Agent Coulson has earned a higher score than his fellow S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.
The problem is he is a Series 4 card which limits his uptake as there is no specific reason to recommend the card outside of an option for Devil Dinosaur Handsize decks.
Rating
Attuma 🔽

Attuma has found its expected home in Zero decks, using Armor or Invisible Woman to “turn off” his effect as well as Zero. Unfortunately, he remains out paced by other cards such as Typhoid Mary which can have the effect turned off later on via Enchantress as well as Zero.
The stat line has been effective at times though, and he turned out to be easier to use than expected due to the Invisible Woman interaction (she reveals Attuma after the game so the effect doesn’t go off).
Rating
Maria Hill 🔼

Maria Hill provides a 1 drop which synergizes with Handsize decks and helps fill curves. This is solid value but she competes with other cards such as Sentinel and Cable which can compete in the same role and provide other advantages. She completes her role well but she is the definition of an average Marvel Snap card.
If you were to unlock this card in Series 2 or 3 she would see much more play as a simple value play which can be slotted into lots of decks. The advantage of Maria Hill is when paired with Beast and Falcon in the Handsize deck she can provide a further bounce target.
Rating
Orka
Orka didn’t make the cut yet. An error in its initial release resulted in Orka not joining us in the first place! The card still seems to sit as an average card which can be played on 6 for minimal downsize and may be effective in single lane decks.
Rating
Helicarrier 🔽

Helicarrier has proven to have its uses in some fringe Handsize decks utilizing Lady Sif and Ghost Rider to use the effect and put the Helicarrier back onto the board. This is a strong play but outside of this, the card has not been providing too many uses. This is unlikely to change significantly but we can note, the card ended up being fun which is not a bad thing, just unfortunate it was a Series 4 card.
Rating
M’Baku 🔽

There is No Room For M’Baku! This card has ended up as a personal favourite of mine but no matter where you see this card show up, I can confirm for you, he is still one of the worse cards in this game (he may have proven himself better than Quiksilver though!).
Cerebro 2 and Lockjaw with chance of jumping out at the end of the game have ended up being uses for the card. However in Cerebro 2 he is far from a requirement and potentially remains a liability and in Lockjaw you can potentially replace him with any other card and have the same or significantly better results. In Cerebro 2, if you have him try it, but this shouldn’t push the ratng up as when any better 2 power card comes out M’Baku will be quickly on the chopping block again.
He also has the best easter egg/animation in the game (no spoilers) which should push the rating up.

Conclusion
That’s it! All Series 4 cards in Marvel Snap currently, rerated a month after their initial release. Marvel Snap is an unique game, and these cards can lead to different variants and at times you may just like a certain character more than others. So a final disclaimer – chasing the card you want with your heart instead of you head is not wrong.
Have we missed any ideas which raise or lower the bar for these cards? Let us know below or our Discord server.
Looking forward to more of the community acquiring these cards and hopefully they start to trickle down to Series 3 soon.
Good luck out there!

I hope you guys find an editor, or have someone go over posts before they go live. The amount of typos and grammatical errors is distracting v.v
Staff have been away over the holiday period some I’m sure some errors are slipping through – we’ll try to get it tightened up! 🙂
Proud owner of the worst Series 4 cards, M’Baku and Helicarrier! I laugh so I don’t cry….
Btw, you guys are doing an excellent job. I appreciate the frequent updates, rather than worrying about a little grammar correction here and there, lol.
I donno man, M’Baku has been feeling great in Cerebro-2. He definitely has yoinked some wins from my opponent that I had no right winning. Nobody expects him, which makes the wins he steals even more hilarious!
Definitely replaceable, but if you have Cerebro and Mystique, it’s definitely worth using.
He’s not useless if you end up using all your mana the entire game and have slots left open. That’s it.
Problem is, due to the game having no mulligan, and the small size of the deck, you almost always will draw him, in which case any other 1-drop with an actual ability is going to be better.
What is the M’Baku Easter egg??? Can’t find anything online
Hint: It happens if you have M’Baku in your deck and all 12 slots are full.
