Marvel Snap January 2024 Planet Hulk Season Bundles Guide – Value and Comparison Chart

What are the best bundles to buy in Marvel Snap? In this buyer's guide, Kirallas takes a look at the upcoming bundles for the Planet Hulk season (January 2024), calculates their estimated value, and compares them side by side.

The New Year has arrived in Marvel Snap, and with it, the new Planet Hulk January 2024 Season season! Here, we will see quite a large number of expensive bundles for both Gold and USD, as well as several interesting mid-tier options.

Let’s take a closer look at what awaits us in the upcoming season! However, keep in mind – all the information below is based on data obtained through datamining. When the bundles go live, they very often change, and this guide is meant to give you a rough understanding of the season’s content among the bundles.

Marvel Snap Planet Hulk Season (January 2024) Bundles Comparison Chart

How the Chart Works

  1. The price in dollars, next to the price in Gold, is calculated based on the conversion of 700 Gold to $10. The main reason for this is that if you take the more expensive and profitable offers to buy Gold, the more expensive bundles for Gold will turn out to be more profitable for those who bought Gold directly. In addition, there are two very popular values in this deal – 700 Gold is the price of a variant in the shop, and $10 is the price of a season pass, which allows for a more universal comparison system.
This starting point allows us to make the comparison more balanced and even, especially since the exact prices will be difficult to set because of the different currencies and the ability to buy items through the Nuverse Shop at a discount.
  1. The number of Collector’s Tokens per Gold is calculated by dividing the total number of tokens by the bundle price in Gold. The total number of Collector’s Tokens in the bundle is calculated by adding the Collector’s Tokens from the bundle to the tokens you get when you contribute all the Credits to increase the Collection Level and buy Token Tuesday bundles for Gold.
  1. The maximum Tokens per dollar shows the maximum possible number of Tokens you can get if you effectively use the contents of a particular bundle. This assumes that you will convert all Gold from the bundles into Tokens via Token Tuesdays.
  1. Progress value means how many times more profitable it is to get currencies used to increase the Collection Level (Gold and Credits) and get new cards by buying a bundle, than to get the same resources through a standard currency conversion through the shop. Token Tuesday bundles are used to calculate the value of Collector’s Tokens, as they are the only remaining way to buy them directly since getting Collector’s Tokens through the Gold-Credits-CL conversion gives too little Collector’s Tokens to be considered seriously as a way to get them.
  1. Сosmetic value means how many times it is more profitable to buy cosmetics with the bundle (avatar, title, variant) than to buy similar items in the shop. The price for avatars and titles is based on a price of 350 Gold. This is simply half the cost of any basic variant in the shop. Also, Second Dinner setting the value to 8x on the Welcome Bundle makes it clear that avatars are worth exactly 350 Gold. Card backs are also valued at 350 Gold. There is currently no way of objectively estimating how much a card back is worth.
However, the price of 350 Gold was based on the fact that card backs, avatars, and titles are barely visible during a match and they have no option of further customization like variants do. There was also an opinion poll on my twitter which showed that 61.6% of over 4,500 players think that card backs should be priced at 350 Gold (or lower). Therefore, until there is a way to estimate the value of card backs more accurately, 350 Gold will be taken as the basis.
  2. Premium mystery variants began appearing in bundles in October 2023. They differ from the regular Mystery variants in this way:
    1. You can’t get a pixel variant;
    2. From it 3 out of 9 variants will be from super rare variants pool (1,200 gold);
    3. 6 out of 9 variants will be from rare variants pool (700 gold).
Thus, a premium mystery variants gives an average value of about 867 Gold, which is taken into account in the calculations.
  1. The row named Series 5 difference means how many cards you get when you buy the bundle compared to spending the same amount of Gold (or $) on Token Tuesdays as the best way to get cards compared to converting Gold into Credits. In other words, this is the number of cards you get when you buy the bundle ON TOP of the number of cards which is considered normal for that amount of currency spent.
For these calculations Tokens are used to buy Series 5 cards, Gold is used to buy Token Tuesday bundles (it’s much more efficient than converting into Credits for the purpose of obtaining new cards), and Сredits are used to raise the Collection Level to get new cards through Spotlight Caches.
Since a player with an almost full collection is defined as a condition, an average player will get more cards this way. It is also assumed that such a player will receive a new card every 2.5 Spotlight Caches on average. Also, since a new card can be either a Series 4 card or a Series 5 card, all calculations are based on the fact that a player will receive Series 5 cards as he bought Series 4 cards on Collector’s Tokens obtained naturally, without buying any bundles. And if a player buys a card, it’s always a Series 5 card, as previously stated). You can find more info about these calculations in our ultimate economy guide!
  1. Boosters are not included in the calculations because they have no real value due to how easy it is to get them later in the game.
  2. The chart contain the amount of new Series 5 cards for a player with a nearly completed collection for every $10 or 700 Gold spent. These values will be useful alongside the card difference value versus buying Token Tuesdays (Series 5 card difference value at the bottom of the chart). This way, you will be able to more accurately compare bundles within each bundle group – both for Gold and for dollars.
  1. With the new system, you should first pay attention to the value of the Difference in Series 5 Cards. It’s also worth looking at the Tokens Per Gold/USD if you want to buy specific cards from the shop. Cosmetic Value and Progress Value will also help you understand what a particular bundle is good for.
  • For the “Collector’s Tokens per Gold” row, a value less than or equal to 0.3 is considered bad (red highlight). A value in the range of 0.3 to 0.71 remains white and indicates a good value. In other words, this value is equal to or slightly lower than Token Tuesday bundles. The most profitable bundles are highlighted in green and have a value above 0.71. These are the bundles we advise players to buy if they want to get as many Collector’s Tokens as possible in the long run.
  • In the Cosmetic Value and Progress Value rows, we use red highlighting to display bundles with a value below 1, which means that it is more profitable to get the same resources through standard conversion methods. The base white color is for values between 1 and 2 and indicates the offers are above average. A green highlight is used for values more than 2; these are very good offers in their categories (cosmetics and collection progress) and should be the target for the players who want to get the most out of it.
  • For the Difference in the number of new cards row, a red highlight reflects values less than 0, a green highlight is used for values more than 0.25, and white for values between 0 and 0.25.

Bubblegum Pop

Bubblegum Pop is a pretty decent bundle in itself, which appears to be part of a new trend offering bundles for 10 USD that include a variant, around 500 Credits, and 1,000 Gold.

The first version of this bundle contained 400 Credits, but it went live with 500 Credits, putting it on par with the other similar bundles like Naughty or Nice? and Ready, Aim, Hellfire. It’s a pretty solid deal for 10 USD, which should be considered as getting Gold at a more favorable rate than in the shop, with plenty of nice bonuses on top. Such an inexpensive bundle seems to be frequently present in the upcoming seasons, and the Bubblegum Pop is just such a decent bundle in January.

These two bundles are available exclusively in the Nuverse Web Shop and you can only choose one of them. But this time around, one bundle is definitely better than the other. Ice In The Veins not only surpasses Cherry Blossoms in terms of Progress Value and other parameters, but it also contains a more valuable currency – Gold. Moreover, this bundle’s Gold per USD value is 133, which is on par with the Mystery Bundle #4 and Kings in the Castle.

The values of both bundles are quite high, higher than what we usually see with 15 USD bundles. Even the famous and solid Magik’s Birthday Party! can’t compete with this duo, especially when put side by side with the Ice in the Veins bundle.

Therefore, the verdict is that the Ice in the Veins bundle is the first candidate for purchase this season, aside from the Season Pass.

Wakandan Wunderkind

Loading...
If you see this for too long, please disable AdBlock and try to reload the page...

This bundle has been changed compared to the first datamined version, where the emphasis was on Collector’s Tokens. Upon release, this bundle offers a whole 10,000 Gold! Yet, this still places it below other great deals for purchasing Gold this month. The datamined versions of Mystery Bundle #4 and Kings in the Castle offer 133 Gold per USD compared to 100 Gold per USD for the Wakandan Wunderkind bundle. But keep in mind that future bundles may change, and there’s a chance they won’t offer 133 Gold per USD as they do in the datamined version.

Nevertheless, mathematically, this bundle is weaker than its predecessors in the same price category – the Beautiful Beyond Compare bundle (which was in a completely different economy system, before the introduction of Spotlight Caches, so it should be considered very conditionally) and the very recent A Little Class, A Little Sophistication. Their Progress Value was around 200%, whereas here we see 186%.

Nevertheless, considering the amount of value contained in this bundle and the fact that we’re getting not Tokens or Credits, but Gold, which can be used for literally anything, including purchasing new bundles, even with the reduced Progress Value, this bundle looks quite attractive.

Also, we remind you that purchasing this bundle is not the only option for obtaining a large number of resources. A season pass still offers more value, and regular bundles at a lower cost differ in price but still contain good content for their value.

Take Flight, Soar On

Loading...

The Take Flight, Soar On bundle is inexpensive, solid, but far from the most advantageous if judged by Progress Value or Total Value. Nevertheless, among all the upcoming bundles, it has the highest Credit to Gold ratio at 1.40, which is higher than the standard value of 1.25 and can be a significant argument if you need Spotlight Caches and new card splits.

I recommend skipping this bundle for those who still have many cards to collect, as for 2,000 Gold you can find much better use in the future if you invest it in a more expensive and profitable bundle like Boon of the Savage Lands. Yes, this bundle is inferior to many that we have seen before, but it’s quite possible that it will be changed for the better, or you will know about some other great bundle for which it is worth saving 2,000 Gold.

Kings in the Castle

This bundle can definitely become one of the hits for mid-tier spenders. For 30 USD, you usually get 2,150 Gold in the shop, and here this amount is almost doubled! In addition, the bundle contains two cosmetics groups (variant and avatar), which already pays off its cost.

So in the end, we have an example of the best bundle for 30 USD. Judge for yourself: you will get Gold that you can spend on literally anything and nothing superfluous. And as a bonus, you receive cosmetics for two pretty decent cards.

In a word – if you have a budget of 30 USD or you have long been looking for a bundle with a favorable Gold/USD rate, then this is definitely your option, take it and you won’t regret it.

The bundle has been changed compared to the datamine. Now it contains 1,000 Collector’s Tokens more, putting it in the top spot among all bundles ever released in terms of Tokens per Gold!

Therefore, if Tokens are what you need, this is an excellent choice, on par with the Boon of the Savage Lands bundle in terms of Progress Value. 0.95 Tokens per Gold is something we’re unlikely to see again anytime soon; a bundle of similar Tokens per Gold value was last seen as long as 8 months ago. And that bundle was the The Tokens bundle, which had a value of 0.9 Tokens per Gold, contained half as much cosmetics, and was on par with the old version of Token Tuesdays. Back then, this bundle was extremely popular to purchase, so don’t miss this chance if you’re in need of Tokens.

Kneel Before Your Queen

Among the upcoming bundles, this is the best in terms of Credits/USD ratio, and among all-time bundles, it ranks in the top 5 for this parameter. The price is not small, but you will get 80% more than if you were to buy Gold with USD and then converted it to Credits through missions or direct purchase of Credits in the shop.

So if your goal is to get a lot of Credits at the most favorable rate possible – this is an excellent bundle for you, and no similar bundles are expected in the near future.

Boon of the Savage Lands

Overall, Boon of the Savage Lands is a typical bundle for 7,500 Gold, offering the greatest Progress Value compared to cheaper bundles. But let’s figure out how it differs from past similar bundles and how good it actually is.

In terms of Progress Value, Boon of the Savage Lands is positioned right between Cosmic Wildfire and Sugar, Spice, and Everything Ice. Moreover, it is much closer to the famous Black Panther bundle, which marked the transition from a token-oriented progress model to a model predominantly oriented on Credits through Spotlight Caches. Here we see the same 6,000 Credits, the same 2,000 Credits, and a similar set of cosmetics, to which one Infinite Conquest Ticket has been added.

If we judge by the card difference, which represents a slightly more accurate indicator of new cards per Gold, it turns out that this bundle exceeds the aforementioned ones and closely approaches the High Stakes bundle – the best in terms of card difference among the Spotlight era bundles.

However, it is necessary to consider the context that many overlook – the Black Panther bundle was incredibly good for its time because it was the last opportunity to get a lot of Tokens and spend them on the needed card before the sequence of Spotlights, for which everyone needs to save up with knowledge of the card release schedule.

However, after that, quite a few events occurred: Spotlights have been changed more than once, we know the frequency of card releases with the cost of a nearly complete collection, and we have many more options for planning among bundles based on the need for new cards versus old cards.

In the end, we have a very good bundle that has fallen slightly behind the trends. As we know, the Sugar, Spice, and Everything Ice bundle was changed to contain more Credits than Tokens precisely because many players, according to the developers’ information, asked for it. It is unknown whether the same logic will be preserved here or if there will be an emphasis on variety.

Ultimately, the bundle is very good in all figures and should be given priority if you don’t have a nearly complete card collection and you need a specific old card that will not be in the Spotlights anytime soon. That’s how you will be able to fully utilize the potential of the 6,000 Collector’s Tokens from the bundle. For other players, 6,000 Tokens will also be a nice content – after all, they can be used to buy a specific new card if you don’t like the other options in the Spotlight week.

Conclusion: the bundle is excellent in value, but consider your needs and the state of your collection when purchasing it.

Demon Legionnaire

Loading...
If you see this for too long, please disable AdBlock and try to reload the page...

This bundle costs 20 USD, but offers the Progress Value of an average 10 USD bundle. Therefore, there’s a high likelihood that it will be changed. If not, then the Demon Legionnaire Bundle has a Gold per USD value of around 100.05, compared to the standard shop value of 70.

But keep in mind that the same Naughty or Nice? Bundle or Bubblegum Pop offer the same value, but also provide additional Credits on top. This is precisely why, in the absence of changes, we rate this Bundle below average and recommend taking a closer look at it only if you are intentionally snapping up every profitable gold deal and the other currencies and content are not important to you.

One Man Battering Ram

Loading...
If you see this for too long, please disable AdBlock and try to reload the page...

One Man Battering Ram is a good Bundle for its price. The value of 75 USD Bundles remains virtually unchanged, except for the drop in cosmetic value in Bundles after the release of the Death Becomes Her bundle which contained a unique card back.

Of course, the same thing that applies to the Boon of the Savage Lands bundle is valid here. A large number of Collector’s Tokens gives an advantage to those who want to get some old Series 5 card, which will not be featured in the upcoming Spotlight Caches weeks. Alternatively, Collector’s Tokens are valuable because they allow you to skip opening Spotlight Caches in a week where the other two options don’t interest you, but you still want to get the card.

These and similar cases justify the presence of Tokens instead of Credits in such a Bundle. However, if you already have plenty of Credits and a large stockpile of Spotlight keys, it’s worth mentioning that there’s a good chance that by purchasing the One Man Battering Ram bundle, you’ll receive 6,000 Tokens that will just gather dust on your account.

Taking this into account and using the Tokens wisely, this Bundle is a typical representative of the 75 USD Bundles and contains a solid amount of resources for its price. To compare, here are two past Bundles and one upcoming Bundle from the same price category. As you can see, the values have remained roughly the same, even with different variations in content.

Token Tuesday Bundles are slowly losing their appeal, although they remain the starting point for evaluating any bundle. They are still good if you need to buy specific cards and don’t want to save up Gold for a long time to buy expensive and more profitable bundles to do so.

I can hardly recommend buying these bundles – at least not this month – but their pure value hasn’t gone anywhere, and they can help in a difficult situation to get the missing Collector’s Tokens to buy a coveted card.

Mystery Bundles

The quality of Mystery Bundles in January has once again slightly improved compared to the previous months. This time, special attention deserves the Mystery Bundle #4 as a bundle with an extremely good Gold value per USD. Here we have almost the same double value that we saw with the Kings in the Castle bundle. And the conclusion is similar – if you want Gold at an extremely good price, this is a must-buy.

In addition to that, the Mystery Bundle #3 also offers a decent Progress Value. Around 1,000 Credits and Collector’s Tokens for 20 USD give it roughly the same value as other bundles in this price category. The bundle is solid, but I recommend purchasing it last this month, as there are other more interesting and highly valued deals available.

The rest of the Mystery Bundles, as seen from the datamine, are not particularly interesting. It’s quite possible that they will be buffed. In their current state, they lack sufficient currency values; due to the distribution across different currencies, you end up getting disproportionately little of each. So they are unlikely to be worth it.

Ticket Bundles

The Ticket Bundles have also seen a slight improvement this season. However, unfortunately, I suggest paying attention to only one of them. I’m talking about the Ticket Bundle #4, which not only offers high Progress Value but also contains a decent amount of Gold in addition to Credits! Yes, it’s primarily a Credit bundle, and the Gold is more of a bonus, as it alone is not worth 20 USD. Nevertheless, these two currencies together provide very good value and are tempting to purchase.

The other Ticket Bundles either offer too little for USD bundles or provide less value than even the in-game shop. I suggest keeping a close eye to see if they change upon release, as there is currently a tendency to slightly enhance weaker bundles just before they go live.

Booster Packs, just as before, are too bad to be a real way to speed up your progress and get more cards. Just don’t buy them – especially with the addition of Conquest mode since you can easily get lots of boosters in the Proving Grounds without risking anything.

Conclusion

Thus, the best January bundles in different price categories that are worth paying attention to:

We’ll also note a couple of particularly notable bad bundles to avoid:

Ultimately, January can be characterized as a month for whales, as we can clearly observe a large number of expensive yet good bundles for both currencies, several mid-tier bundles, and very few cheap bundles, both for Gold and USD.

We can also see a gradual improvement in Ticket Bundles and Mystery Bundles. Although this improvement is most evident upon the release of the bundles, when Second Dinner seriously change them compared to the datamined versions. But even here – within the game files we see the intention to improve weaker bundles, which is undoubtedly commendable.

As for the such expensive January season – December was particularly generous with cheap and valuable bundles. Breaks are always needed, and for now, I suggest either purchasing those expensive bundles you’ve been counting on (including Boon of the Savage Lands) or, if you’re short, to continue calmly saving your Gold for the coming months, where we will once again see great offers, worthy of every piece of Gold!
