Gold Pass

Gold Pass – Details and Analysis

Buyer's guide to Gold Passes. Is it worth it? How good is it in comparison to Season Passes?

With the March 12, 2024 Version 25.19.1 patch, the Golden Pass was introduced for purchase from the shop. It allows players to receive a small amount of Gold every day for a month (30 days). Let’s analyze whether it’s worth the investment and how it compares to the Season Passes we’re familiar with.

The Basics

Let’s start with the basics. The Golden Pass costs $4.99 USD (or equivalent currency), is valid for 1 month (30 days) from the date of purchase. It provides an immediate 300 Gold upon purchase and an additional 50 Gold for each day you log into the game over those 30 days. This totals up to 1,800 Gold over 30 days, provided you don’t miss a single day.

You can also purchase the Golden Pass in the Nuverse Marvel Snap Web Shop to get a small discount due to currency conversion. In this case, it will save you about 50 cents.

Let’s now look at what a Golden Pass offers if we consider it as a Bundle. If you don’t miss a single day, then the 1,800 Gold received over this period for 5 USD represents tremendous value, about 500% of the usual rate. The Gold per USD value is also insanely high, equaling 360 Gold per dollar.

If you’re already an active player who doesn’t miss days to maximize value by completing all quests, purchasing a Gold Pass is just a monthly bundle for you that surpasses in value anything we typically see.

If you log into the game 75% of the time, thereby missing 1/4 of the days, a Golden Pass still remains highly competitive compared to other bundles, yielding a Progress Value of 415%. Meanwhile, you’re getting 290 Gold for every dollar.

If you log into the game every other day on average, then the Gold Pass value approaches the best bundles in terms of Progress Value that we usually see (for example, A Year of MARVEL SNAP!), offering 300% Progress Value.

The Gold per USD value will be 210, which also sits slightly above the best bundles that we usually see.

And only if you log in 25% of the days does it place the bundle in the category of regular bundles that we usually see and analyze. A 193% Progress Value here isn’t too far off from 210, with a 50% game login rate, since a significant portion of the Gold is obtained immediately upon purchase, which gives such a side effect.

The Gold per USD value in this case is 135 and is in the range of such good bundles by this metric as Ice In The VeinsKings in the Castle, and So…is Spider-Man Grounded?. And you know what? I would still recommend such a bundle! Even 675 Gold for 5 USD is a great deal, on par with the double Gold promotion in the shop and comparable to the best bundles in terms of value.

Gold Pass vs. Season Pass

Let’s now compare a Gold Pass with a regular Season Pass. After all, probably the first thing every new player hears from the community is that a Season Pass is the best purchase there can be. Can the Gold Pass beat this statement?

Bear in mind that the following approach to the Season Pass is exclusively from the perspective of Progress Value, not cosmetics. We are trying to answer the question “What is better in terms of collection progress?”. However, each variant was accounted for as 25 Credits, since this is the savings you receive when upgrading a new variant.

Additionally, when evaluating a Season Pass, I included the weekly missions that provide 150 Gold each. Basically, this is included in the cost of the Season Pass but is distributed over time. Below you will see that even an additional 600-750 Gold per month doesn’t significantly alter the picture due to the high value of a card included in a Season Pass.

Naturally, a significant part of the Season Pass’s value lies in the fact that you receive a Series 5 card, which you’ll be able to acquire with Collector’s Tokens only about a month after the season’s release, or not before roughly 3 months through Spotlight Caches.

In the first example, let’s imagine a Series 5 card as 6,000 Collector’s Tokens.

And what do we see? The Progress Value of such a bundle would be insanely high. 1,467% is no joke. There’s even no point in comparing with such an approach; so if you were to purchase a card from a Season Pass with Collector’s Tokens, then such a Season Pass is unbeatable in terms of value.

With keys, it’s a similar story, but I’ll also show you cases where the value of a card in a Season Pass is lower because it’s found in a Spotlight Cache with other cards you need. In such a scenario, the desired card will not cost the standard 2.5 keys, which are on average needed to get a card, but 1.66 and 1.25 keys for caches with 2 and 3 missing cards, respectively.

Here we can see that even the worst value Season Pass (when a card costs 1.25 keys) is still a better deal than the best Gold Pass. So, the value of a Season Pass holds up here and it remains the best deal in Marvel Snap.

Conclusion

Thus, the Gold Pass is successfully positioned in terms of Progress Value between the best bundles and the Season Pass. Even getting about 700 Gold with a 25% activity level for 5 USD is a deal twice as beneficial as the regular in-game store.

Not to mention the full potential of the Gold Pass. 1,800 Gold for 5 USD is a value that was previously unavailable. Now, you can purchase such a “bundle” every month.

Considering that the game already encourages daily logins, I can recommend purchasing a Gold Pass. Gold is a valuable and versatile resource that can be spent on Collector’s Tokens, Credits, or cosmetics. Additionally, there are sometimes good bundles available for Gold, which offer everything all at once. Under such conditions, a Gold Pass should be the second purchase to consider, right after a Season Pass and definitely before any regular bundles.

One can only speculate what the cost might be for the introduction of the Gold Pass in the game and whether there is any cost at all. It’s possible that this is indeed just a positive change for those looking to spend their money efficiently.

Please share your thoughts in the comments and let us know whether you plan to purchase the Gold Pass. And how do you feel after the introduction of the Gold Pass in Marvel Snap?
