Completely unexpectedly, another Gold bundle has been released! Honestly, I was expecting this option to be sold for USD, but there was a surprise. Let’s take a look at the second attempt to make a good bundle for Gold after a long break and changes in the approach to Gold bundles.
Guide
The first thing that catches the eye is a bundle with a positive Progress Value! *sigh*
The previous Long Live The King bundle was 8% worse than buying the same resources in the regular in-game shop. The Our Fiery Friend bundle, however, is 7% better. This probably indicates a positive trend and a testing of the waters on the part of the Second Dinner?
And I understand that a more expensive Gold bundle should inherently offer more value, as it’s harder to accumulate that much Gold, and therefore each Gold should be worth more. But unfortunately, this logic is rarely applied to bundles in Marvel Snap. On the contrary, the more expensive bundles often have less value than the very cheap ones.
Nevertheless, these 107% are still not the 133% Progress Value 133%, which we usually see in bundles for Gold, nor the 143% that the High Stakes bundle had with the same price just 5 months ago. But at least it’s worth it on paper. Essentially, the contents of this bundle would have cost you 6,400 Gold, but the bundle is being sold for 6,000 Gold.
Below is a comparison chart with bundles in the same price range. As can be seen, the bundle in question loses to all bundles except for really bad ones like Artist Showcase: Kim Jacinto, which in theory could give you the opportunity to play up to two Series 4 cards, and Oh No, He’s Hot!!!, which is just bad without reason.
The Total Value also predictably sits at a rather mediocre level, which is to be expected since the not very large amount of resources isn’t compensated for in the bundle by a large amount of cosmetics.
But what about the variant? Could it have pulled all the value to itself and be worth it? Here’s an interesting point. For high-series players, She-Hulk is a fairly popular card, which is primarily found in the She-Naut archetype. So there’s definitely a place for this variant.
As for beginners – purchasing High Evolutionary unlocks the path to a strong deck with She-Hulk. And buying High Evolutionary isn’t that difficult – there are already 4,000 Collector’s Tokens in the bundle, and all players receive 3,000 Collector’s Tokens at the 500th level of their collection.
But the question arises – where does a beginner get 6,000 Gold? And this is what spoils the whole picture, because such a scenario is not very realistic. However, for those who are indeed affected by this – if you don’t have She-Hulk and you can pull off such a scheme – it’s worth it! Acquiring a strong deck in this way is very good.
Conclusion
Thus, by the numbers, the bundle is mediocre compared to what we are accustomed to, but better than the constantly available purchase options in the in-game shop. And this, considering the reduction in the Progress Value of bundles for Gold against the reduced price of Gold for USD, makes the evaluation not the simplest.
Clearly, if you’re a newcomer, collecting Series 3, and can afford a scheme to acquire a strong deck with the Gold you have, as described above – the bundle is good. Such an alternative use case for the bundle is not the most common occurrence, but it is viable.
But as for all other players: newcomers without 6,000 Gold and veterans, the bundle is probably not worth it. Yes, a Progress Value of 107% is nice, but it’s hardly enough to force yourself to buy a bundle with Collector’s Tokens instead of Credits. Of course, Collector’s Tokens are a good currency, but they are available every Tuesday at a not-so-bad price, and this bundle doesn’t really differ much from Token Tuesdays in this aspect.
I believe that an optimal value, when a bundle is worth considering for purchase, taking into account the reduced Progress Value of bundles for Gold, would be around 120%, decreased from the usual 133%. And a 107% Progress Value is not a significant enough difference to warrant purchasing the bundle.
Therefore, for the average player, I rate the bundle at 1.5 stars, which is a slight improvement compared to Long Live The King, which received 1 star.
