Marvel Snap Conquest Meta Tier List: May 5, 2024 – New Season Preparation

Little by little the flexible decks are returning to domination in Conquest. This game mode rewards good reads and tech cards, though, so it's no surprise. See the best reactive decks and den's thoughts about each one here!

Welcome to our Marvel Snap Conquest Meta Tier List! Each week, we review the best decks in the ever-changing Marvel Snap Conquest meta.

This report is dedicated to the Conquest mode and lists the current best decks to run the gauntlet and grab your next Infinity avatar. We also provide a Ranked report, available around the middle of the week based on the latest updates, that highlights the best archetypes for that mode. Looking to figure out the impact of the newly released card or the latest balance changes in Conquest? This is the place to be!

If you are looking for more information about a deck in particular, check out our Archetypes pages, with detailed information about each of the household names in Marvel Snap.

Marvel Snap Conquest Overview

The metagame in Conquest seems to keep the course it has been on over the last few weeks, with the same triangle of synergistic, flexible, or disruptive decks battling for domination.

At this point, the disruptive archetypes have pushed away The Living Tribunal, and limited other synergistic decks such as Destroy or Hela to a Tier 2 status. From this category of archetypes, only Phoenix Force managed to shine this week, managing a 67% win rate. If it wasn’t for this one, which benefits from a good matchup into Loki to boost its numbers, it is safe to say the points driven deck should be kept for less competitive environment currently.

Disruptive decks are doing great on the other hand, with Ongoing Affliction and Junk both posting insane win rates in the Infinity Conquest league, at 69 and 68% respectively. Similarly to The Phoenix Force who can quickly figure if it has a fighting chance in a match, these two are the quickest decks to get set amongst disruptive archetypes, a particularly important trait in the current metagame. Indeed, Hammer Control and Zemo Mill, two other decks looking to prevent the opponent from developing their gameplan, aren’t doing as well, likely due to giving the opponent too much information before snapping.

As for flexible archetypes, it is kind of the Loki show right now, with barely any other deck managing to find success. There is an interesting list in the silent performers labelled LockMove, but the other usual performers, such as Silver Surfer, Cerebro, or Thanos haven’t done anything significant in the Infinity Conquest league so far.

When it comes for cards to be on lookout for, Mobius M. Mobius made a return with Loki so popular, while Rogue is also seeing more play, either to cancel Mobius, or to edge your bets against the Ongoing Affliction deck.

Happy Tier List, everyone!

Disclaimer and Tier Explanations

In order to be featured here, a deck needs to hold a win rate above the 50% threshold over more than a hundred Conquest games.

In order to create this chart, den is using data from our Marvel Snap Tracker, as well as other available data online and his own expertise and opinion of respected players. If a deck showed great performances with a very limited presence in the meta, you can find it in the Silent Performers section. That section highlights decks with an excellent Win Rate, but too little of a sample size to be representative of their real strength.

Decks not good enough to be considered contenders but with a good representation will be ranked in Tier 3 in our chart. See those builds as decks that are good to know about, as you should face them when playing Marvel Snap. However, unless the meta changes or a new variation of the build emerges, these decks are a notch below the dominant ones in Tiers 1 and 2.

Silent Performer: Decks with a very little presence in the meta that still showcase a Cube Average and Win Rate worthy of a Tier 2 deck (or better). Oftentimes, these can be archetypes with some nice game play that have been left unchecked in the current environment, or decks on the rise that found a few good match ups to abuse.

Tier 1: Tier 1 represents decks with all the upsides we would be looking for to run the gauntlet. They have good match ups in the current meta, offer different play patterns during a match, and often have the ability for explosive or surprising turns. These should be decks worth investing into in order to climb for the coming week.
Win Rate > 60%

Tier 2: Tier 2 are very good decks but with a weakness holding them back – either not being as reliable in its draws as Tier 1 decks, countered by another popular deck, or still being a work in progress as you read this. A good pilot could probably take these and have the same results as with a Tier 1 deck, but their play patterns are more difficult to enact compared to the tier above.
Win Rate > 56%

Tier 3: This tier is made of decks that have a pervasive issue compared to Tier 1 or Tier 2 decks. Usually, Tier 3 will be a mix of decks on the rise that don’t have much data, old archetypes on the decline, decks that require substantial experience and/or knowledge to pilot properly, powerful decks that aren’t well positioned, or niche decks.
Win Rate > 52%

Budget: Decks that consist only of cards in Pool 1 and 2 that are still capable of competing with an experienced pilot in a similar Collection Level, Rank, and MMR range. See our matchmaking guide for more details.

This just looks like a Move deck which included Ms. Marvel, Doctor Doom and Iron Lad into the mix. Yet, it beat all other Move decks when it comes to win rate, although there were only about 70 Conquest games to show for it.

If you are looking to pick up Nocturne on Tuesday, this could be a nice place to start.

A more flexible way to build around the Destroy synergy, DeathJunk did really well in Conquest over the limited amount of games recorded. I thought losing the surprise after a few rounds would hurt the deck in Conquest, but it did better than Destroy or any Annihilus deck this week, so could be worth a shot if you want to play around those synergies.

After bursting onto the scene thanks to the last OTA which buffed U.S. Agent and Jean Grey, the Ongoing Affliction deck keeps the momentum going. At this point, we can’t say the deck is surprising anyone anymore, so the 69% win rate over 400 hundred matches, all in the Infinity Conquest league, has to be taken seriously.

Sure, the deck is simple to play, but this isn’t necessarily a bad thing in this metagame, as it makes the Snap and Retreat mechanic simple to handle. Plus, even if we all know how to stop the Ongoing synergy, using Rogue, Enchantress, or even Echo, the inclusions of Cosmo and Jean Grey give the deck agency against those cards.

I don’t know for how long the deck will be able to maintain this level of performance. Yet, heading into the May 2024 Season, Ongoing Affliction definitely is a deck to keep in mind.

Potential Additions

Mobius M. Mobius is included to go against Loki, but represents the flexible card in the deck. Punisher often sees play, Iron Lad, Rogue, or any Ongoing, preferably cheap card could be considered.

If Ongoing Affliction is the hottest deck towards the end of the season, Junk probably is the one over the full course of April, even if this one is starting to be named Lockdown for some reason. As time passed, Professor X and Annihilus took over Annihilus, with Green Goblin, Debrii or White Widow being used for early disruption.

In a metagame where snapping as early as possible is key to gain more than one Cube per round, relying on earlier disruption, so we can focus on winning lanes once in the later rounds, definitely makes more sense. At least, this is what the stats are telling us, with a 68% win rate over 250 games this week in the Infinity league.

Potential Additions

Magik and Iron Lad are two cards I see quite a bit in the archetype, while Havok or Angela to capitalize on Ravonna Renslayer even more, are gaining momentum lately.

I kept wondering why the Phoenix Tribunal list wasn’t more popular in the previous tier lists, as the deck simply felt more reliable than the Shuri Nimrod build. In the end, it seems like both are almost equally good, with Tribunal only beating Nimrod by 0.5% win rate over about a hundred games.

In this metagame, where losing the wrong card, or getting your space clogged can shut off your deck, The Phoenix Force might appear to be a bad idea. Yet, thanks to knowing very quickly if you have what you need in hand or not, you are in control of your Snaps and Retreats against most opponents. Plus, the deck is very good against Loki, who can’t leverage our synergies very well, so the rise of the Trickster God lately helped The Phoenix Force‘s stock a lot.

Probably the best deck in the game in expert hands, especially in Conquest, Loki only comes to the fourth place in this Conquest Meta Tier List, sporting a 63% win rate, for a few reasons:

  • Ongoing Affliction was quick to add Mobius M. Mobius into the mix to adapt to that matchup, while Pixie decks already ran the card.
  • Junk is using faster disruption, which is much more difficult to work around for Loki, compared to Annihilus lists.
  • Loki is very popular lately, and the mirror match only grants a 50% win rate in the data as the archetype both won and lost.
  • Loki‘s snaps aren’t as simple as you might think.

This last reason is, to me, why Loki won’t take the top spot in the future, although it should stay in the discussion for it. Indeed, no one is staying in a game when a Loki decks snaps with Quinjet on the board, and you are about, or just played Loki. Then, you need to Snap early in order to keep people in the match, but this is where the problem lies.

If you Snap before turn three or four, you might not know if your opponent is running Mobius M. Mobius, or another annoying card for your synergies. With this in mind, playing Loki is actually riskier than it looks. Indeed, you need to risk being punished by Junk filling your lane, or Cosmo denying your Loki, if you want your opponent to stay in the face of your snap. Sure, you can wait and gain some information in Conquest, but you also give your opponent more time to draw into said card, and figure if they can beat a Loki or not.

Loki remains the best at disguising how good its hand is, but we’re slowly getting to the point when even the Trickster God can’t fool its opponent so easily. The price to pay for being around for so long.

Potential Additions

Rogue and Mobius M. Mobius were added for the mirror, but represent flexible slots. Valentina, Cosmo, Red Guardian, Mockingbird, or Hope Summers also see play in Loki.

Destroy would be a tier one deck if it wasn’t for Ongoing Affliction ruining the party. Indeed, that match-ups is very annoying to go against, as the Jean Grey, Cosmo and Armor trio shuts down most of Destroy’s synergies.

Fortunately, Destroy is equally problematic for Junk, another very popular deck in the metagame, so much so it made Lady Deathstrike a better inclusion than Shang-Chi this week in Conquest.

Compared to the decks in the higher tier then, Destroy feels like it needs a little more luck regarding the match-ups it goes against, as 4-1 doesn’t cut for the Infinity league.

Potential Additions

Arnim Zola and Shang-Chi can replace Lady Deathstrike.

Loki brought Mobius M. Mobius back into the metagame, naturally bad news for a Pixie deck. The other piece of bad news if the deck struggling to win when it doesn’t find Pixie early, explaining why the best performing list looks so empty on turn three and four, instead making the most of the Energy costs being shuffled.

Basically, you would play this deck like a Bounce list if you couldn’t find Pixie, using Beast to craft a turn three or four if you can’t find Mobius M. Mobius or Sentry. If you do find your signature 2-cost, be willing to snap as this is how the deck should gain most of its cubes.

Potential Additions

You could play a more balanced list with Red Guardian, Jeff the Baby Land Shark or White Widow in the earlier turns. Shang-Chi, Valkyrie can also make sense in the deck.

The deck lost a lot of popularity since establishing itself as the second coming of Sera Control after the OTA which buffed Jane Foster Mighty Thor. Yet, it is difficult to attribute this lack of momentum to the deck’s performance, which is more or less still the same after a week of play. Instead, it simply seems like there are better, or simpler to pilot decks you can rely onto for Conquest.

A good, but with nothing to set aside from the rest deck would be a good way to describe Hammer Control.

Potential Additions

The deck is built to answer the current metagame so outside of Thor, Beta Ray Bill and Jane Foster Mighty Thor, you could consider almost every card as flexible.

Then, you could include Mobius M. Mobius, some Ongoing hate cards, or more cards to provide points.

The Living Tribunal is almost gone from the metagame, except for Phoenix Force using it in one of its lists, but Hela remains a decent contender.

In this more flexible metagame, the Corvus Glaive build just makes more sense to run, and represents a nice counter to Loki. Unfortunately, Ongoing Affliction or Junk will often eat you alive, as they know they can easily disrupt your deck.

Similarly to Destroy then, Hela isn’t a bad pick, but needs to avoid certain matchups to get to the promise land, unless you are confident you can navigate unfavorable matchups like a boss.

Potential Additions

As usual, there is a Ramp variant of the deck, which does a little worse overall but features more flexible play-patterns.

More of Loki naturally isn’t good for Zemo Mill, which can’t really run that deck out of cards considering how many it creates. The match-up isn’t necessarily terrible, as you have plenty of way to deny Loki in your deck, but the timings are very precise, and it is often difficult to snap before you know you hit it with Spider-Ham or Cable.
Then, with only Doctor Octopus with priority as a reliable snap, you often struggle to gain more than one cube in this matchup.

Other opponents are easier to beat, even if Ongoing Affliction can be annoying with Jean Grey into Cosmo. Yet, considering Loki‘s popularity right now, it is unlikely not to run into it over the course of five games, naturally reducing Zemo Mill’s stock in the current metagame.

Potential Additions

I’m a big fan of Beast in the deck to build turns and replay Yondu, Cable or even Baron Zemo. Otherwise, consider Maximus, Shang-Chi and Magik flexible currently, so you could slot other cards if you see more upside in those. For example Mobius M. Mobius, Rogue, White Widow

For yet another report, Toxic Surfer survives as the most popular build for the Silver Surfer archetype, but lacks to put up results to justify it. Its 55% win rate isn’t terrible, but the latest developments in the metagame don’t feel good for Toxic Surfer.

Indeed, both Cosmo and Mobius M. Mobius are more popular lately, while Valentina made Shadow King also see a bit more play. Then, it is hard to recommend this deck for a full Conquest run, as you are bound to be countered eventually in the current environment.

Closing Words

if there is one thing you need to keep in mind for your last attempts at a shiny avatar, it is the need for a deck able to gain information quickly into a round. If we look at the best performers, they almost all share this similarity of figuring where they are headed in a match by turn three. This open the possibility to snap relatively early, more importantly before the opponent knows too much about your strategy.

Otherwise, I would recommend staying away from synergistic decks, except if they aren’t too reliant on the On Reveal synergy or looking to cheat energies. Indeed, Cosmo and Mobius M. Mobius are gaining ground, so you need to be flexible enough to play around these two, or have a deck able to ignore them.

As for the pick between flexibility or disruption, your play style probably is the best tiebreaker currently, as long as you respect the first rule of being able to quickly get set into a round.

As usual, find me on the Marvel Snap Zone community Discord to discuss the report, or you can follow my Twitter page where I share decks and biased opinions about the game.
