Hell’s Kitchen Hot Location Guide: Strategy, Best Cards and Decks

This week's Marvel Snap Hot Location is Hell's Kitchen: Draw a 1-Cost card from your deck. This location will show up 50% more frequently in ranked games for 24 hours. Here are our proposed strategies with the best cards and decks that you can try for the new meta!

The Hot Location for the next 24 hours is Hell's Kitchen: Draw a 1-Cost card from your deck. This is a Hot Location for Marvel Snap’s July 2023 season, Rise of the Phoenix, that starts on selected Wednesdays and Sundays at 3 AM GMT. For 24 hours, it has a 50% chance of showing up in games.

Players who strategically build around the location or counter the decks that do so can have an advantage over their opponents! Let’s find out what the best strategies, cards, and decks are for the new meta!

Strategy and General Tips

Hell's Kitchen is a location that is deceptive in the impact it has on the game, primarily because you draw the card from your deck. There are two options here: include some key 1-drops so you are more likely to draw them each game (like Human Torch, Deadpool, and Kitty Pryde), or just have lots of 1-drops in your deck in order to guarantee an extra draw each game. Both are valid, but having a strategy to exploit the extra 1-Cost card and guarantee a draw is the best way.

Human Torch and Deadpool are the most obvious synergies to explore. These two cards appearing early in the game will allow them to scale exponentially and, at times, win lanes by themselves. We can build our deck to have only one or two 1-drops to ensure we draw them from the location.

Bounce has been pronounced dead by many, but it is far from it. An extra draw is almost guaranteed for most lists, which should set up for bigger Beast plays. This extra consistency helps us add two to three free cards to our hand with Beast, which gives us more explosive final turns more often.

Thanos runs at least six 1-Cost cards. The synergy is clear here since you will almost always be guaranteed the extra draw from the location, and the card you draw will usually draw another card, and so on. This leads to the big Turn 4 and Turn 5 plays that are pivotal for most Thanos decks. It’s a simple synergy, but it’s one worth exploring if you’re going to play Ladder during this location.

With the greedier options covered, the best way may be just playing some key 1-drops that enable your deck. Nebula, Quinjet, and Sunspot are great examples. These can be difference makers for the decks that run them, and Hell's Kitchen ensures you find them more often.

Here we have two 1-drops that help enable our Move and Destroy combos. The location helps these get into our hand in time for Turn 4 Destroy effects into a Turn 5 revive with The Phoenix Force. This deck demonstrates the true power of this Hot Location. You will draw your important 1-Cost cards and get one card closer to the other key cards in your deck.

Following the same logic, we have this Destroy deck. Here we include an old favorite, Wave, since we should be destroying cards more consistently. Then we can have Turn 5 be Deadpool and Wave or Death and Wave, locking the game out like the decks of old.

Bounce can always use an extra draw, and this version runs as many good 1-Cost cards as it can fit. The goal is simple: play three of those cards on a lane and then bounce them with Beast. You can use their effects again or just save the free cards for an explosive Turn 6. There aren’t any crazy additional plays here, just value from the location creating power on board.

This deck from BenFromWork gets straight to the point. The 1-drops are all cards we want in hand for later set ups, but there’s nothing we are targeting specifically. Each card has a function here: to enable power plays later in the game. Sunspot for the Skip Turn 5 play, Kitty Pryde for filling our curve and buffing The Collector, and Quinjet for reducing the cost of cards added to our hand.

The deck can put impressive power across the board, but it is important to determine the locations you want to fight for early. Both Mirage and Jeff the Baby Land Shark can be replaced here with cards like Maria Hill and Angela.

Zoo in Series 2 can be risky because of Killmonger, but the added draw in this deck is huge. We can run Okoye and Nakia to buff the 1-drops even more, but the real power is ensuring you get more chances to draw Ka-Zar and Blue Marvel.
