Savage Land Hot Location Guide: Strategy, Best Cards and Decks

This week's Marvel Snap Hot Location is Savage Land: Add two Raptors on each side of this location. This location will show up 60% more frequently in games for the next 24 hours. Here are some decks to get you started for all players!

The Hot Location for the next 24 hours is Savage Land: Add two Raptors on each side of this location. Hot Locations happen every week, starting Sunday at 3 AM GMT. The chosen location has a 60% increased chance of appearing during games. Players who strategically build around the location or counter the decks that do so can have an advantage over their opponents! So what do you play?

Strategy and General Tips

When Savage Land flips, two Raptors without abilities are created on each side of the location. This cannot be controlled using location effects so building decks which can take advantage of the Raptors is the best path forward. Cards such as Ka-Zar, Blue Marvel, and Patriot can all squeeze extra value from the Raptors on board.

However, the Raptors are 1 energy cards, which are easy to destroy or counter using Killmonger and to some degree, Elektra. So the other major synergy with the Raptors is Carnage! Carnage will become a 2 energy, 6 power play with no other support with the Raptors. This combines well also with Nova to buff the rest of the board and can clear space early on. Carnage, Nova and Killmonger therefore could be added to many decks to get some extra value during this Hot Location.

In Series 1, Killmonger does not exist, so we can build a Zoo deck with Carnage and should still find success regardless of if we can destroy the Raptors. Nova adds a board-wide buff we can also utilize and this can add 8 to 10 power often with this style of deck. This should prove less successful as the we go through Series 2 and 3 as a strategy but is a valid early collection level approach. If you do have to play Zoo during the location at higher levels, play Armor also, instead of Elektra.

This is the Handsize deck from the beginner guides that have just been updated!

It has good synergy with the Raptors whilst not being subject to counter such as Killmonger. This should help you spread power, leading towards either Double Devil Dinosaur or using your opponents biggest card against them with White Queen to win. The deck carries an excellent destroy package also which helps us counter our opponents and build power.

The obvious deck with synergy with low power token cards is Death and Wave. This can add up to 4 extra triggers towards Death alone and this can be enough to get Death down early or have an explosive Turn 6. Most variants of DeathWave style decks will have an advantage during the location.

This version is Series 3 only, but you could also drop Aero and Leader if you’re missing these cards for other value cards. You can also add in She-Hulk instead of Aero or America Chavez.

Silver Surfer remains one of the best cards in the game currently, and the 3-Cost package includes a few cards which can comfortably be swapped into the package. Killmonger and Deathlok being 3-Cost can remove the Raptors and leave cards which can be buffed at the end of the game.

In addition, Nova has proven already to be a good fit and if we add Carnage we now have 3 ways to remove the Raptors and take advantage of them whilst we create a board for Silver Surfer on 6.

After Credits

Zoo decks and Junk decks could profit during the location also. Given the ability to counter Zoo decks by other decks with synergy this is unlikely to be recommended. Exploring Junk decks may run into the same problem, as a lot of the cards you donate are easily destroyable. However, there are extra 1-Cost cards to send across with Viper and it may be easier during the Hot Location duration to fill your opponent’s side of the board.
