The Hot Location for the next 24 hours is Kamar-Taj: On Reveal effects happen twice at this location. This is a Hot Location for Marvel Snap’s October 2023 season, Bloodstone, that starts on selected Wednesdays and Sundays at 3 AM GMT. For 24 hours, it has a 50% chance of showing up in games.
Players who strategically build around the location or counter the decks that do so can have an advantage over their opponents! So what will you play?
Strategy and General Tips
Kamar-Taj returns today as our Hot Location! This one has been considered a fan favorite because of the ceiling for crazy screenshots goes through the roof. As with all locations that have these extremes, the best strategy to consistently perform while playing during this period is to counter the location with a card that has minimal impact on your own game plan.
In this case, it’s Cosmo. However, we may now be able to operate with more recklessness because we can include Echo to protect the location.
If we don’t want to be spoilsports, we need to look towards big On Reveal effects that can be abused consistently and don’t need to be activated on the location in case it doesn’t show. Cards like Shuri, Doctor Doom, Silver Surfer, Ironheart, Hazmat, and even White Tiger can form the backbone of decks that can abuse the location consistently.
Absorbing Man and Wong can also be seriously considered now – especially if you own Echo – since the effects can be stacked and Absorbing Man can now represent a big enough threat on its own to justify an inclusion across many decks.
Shuri into Red Skull into Taskmaster is a strong option. This deck can also play Cosmo to turn off your opponent’s big Turn 6 setups. Shuri can even be played effectively off the location if we suspect an opposing Cosmo.
Doctor Doom can be played to get into other locations, and it still has a big impact off the location. If you suspect Cosmo, you can just play it on another lane.
Silver Surfer can also find success whenever this location appears. It’s a consistent deck for climbing the Ladder that can win games while having the counter cards you need for the location and the popular decks. You can also just play Brood and Absorbing Man on the other lanes and then Silver Surfer on the Hot Location.
The Collector and Loki combination can be used with this location as a last turn finisher and the location also allows you to keep you hand full easily. This makes the location a strong enabler for the deck, especially if opponents swap to decks that synergise with the location. We can improve our own deck whilst our opponents also have decks which are improved by the location, win-win.
On Reveal
Absorbing Man and Iron Lad can support this On Reveal deck that aims to activate Ironheart as many times as possible. This deck wants to play Zabu on Turn 2 if possible, followed by setting up your On Reveal combinations on Kamar-Taj.
Echo can help protect the lane as well, and then you can aim to buff whatever you have on the other lanes with multiple triggers from Ironheart.
Discard
Discard can be another potential direction during the Hot Location. This deck has some key On Reveals such as Daken and Silver Samurai on the location to create 16 Power while also discarding two of your opponent’s cards.
On top of this, most the targeted discard effects are better when doubled. They allow you to fill your hand with Swarm or buff Apocalypse multiple times.
Shuri
Shuri is a strong deck in general, and Kamar-Taj doubles the effect. If we can hit this on Vision for example we can then move the now 32 power card to another lane and still Taskmaster, giving us mobility and ability to dodge counterplays.
For the location including Cosmo, which may not be useful often but when it is will be game winning. Sauron always takes priority on 3, if you miss the draws, play Cosmo and set up elsewhere.
Silver Surfer
Silver Surfer is on of the most obvious synergies for the location and simplest to build. We include Brood even with Werewolf By Night as the power ceiling of hitting the combination is so high. We then include some movement and control tools which help us mess up our opponents combinations such as Juggernaut and Negasonic Teenage Warhead.
Series 2 and Below (pre-CL 474)
With a more limited collection, we can put together a strong On Reveal package and combine it with Storm and Jessica Jones. The key play we are looking for is Jubilee on Kamar-Taj, but we can also use Iceman and Scorpion in the early game for huge disruption.
White Tiger and Odin will often fill the rest of your board with eight power cards, and the deck naturally combines consistency with high roll potential.
