Kamar-Taj Hot Location Guide: Strategy, Best Cards and Decks
Table of Contents
The Hot Location for the next 24 hours is Kamar-Taj: On Reveal effects happen twice at this location. Hot Locations happen every week, starting on Sunday at 3 AM GMT. The chosen location has a 50% chance of appearing during games. Players who strategically build around the location or counter the decks that do so can have an advantage over their opponents! How will you approach the meta and what will you play?
Strategy and General Tips
Kamar-Taj returns today as our Hot Location. This one has to be considered a fan favourite as the ceiling for crazy screenshots goes through the roof. As with all locations that have these extremes to them, the best strategy to be consistent whilst playing during this period is to counter it with a card which has minimal impact on your own gameplans. In this case its Cosmo.

If we don’t want to be spoil sports, we need to look towards big On Reveal effects which can be abused consistently AND don’t need to be activated on the location just in case. Cards like Shuri, Doctor Doom, Silver Surfer, Ironheart, Hazmat or even White Tiger can form the backbones of decks which can abuse the location consistently.

Some of these have advantages over the others. Shuri for example can be played effectively off the location and can also gain its effect before Cosmo lands in some cases. Doctor Doom can be played to get into other locations and is a big impact off the location also, so if we suspect Cosmo we play into another lane.
The number of decks and directions we could feature for this location is very wide so will keep this brief. Shuri into Red Skull then Taskmaster is your best option. This deck can also play Cosmo to turn off your opponent’s big Turn 6 set ups whilst creating 52 power Red Skull‘s on turn 5. Arnim Zola could be a strong consideration for the location also – if you want this build skip to the end of the article now.
For everyone else, Silver Surfer and Hazmat builds should not need much modification so here are two recommendations to try:
However one direction you could go to celebrate the final weekend of Days of Future Past is finally… Nimrod!

Main Deck Feature
This is my final attempt at building around Nimrod during the season and a risky one to feature but when this works it could be a lot of fun! Will repeat myself, skip to the end for a Shuri deck that will serve just as wll.
The goal here to activate these effects as many times as possible, raining down destruction on your own board. If we cannot do this we use Black Panther to create a big card we can copy. As long as we get Nimrod down Turn 4 we can aim to do some silly things. Electro can also allow for Turn 4 Destroyer unlocking 7 energy on Turn 5 and 8 energy on Turn 6, allowing for multiple destroy combinations.
Here are some of the lines we want to try here:
- Electro into Nimrod into Destroyer on Kamar Taj. Follow this up with Venom and Carnage.
- Electro into Destroyer into Nimrod and Carnage into Venom and Black Panther.
- Electro into Shuri into Black Panther into Zola
- Electro into Nimrod into Destroyer into Knull.
- Electro into Destroyer into Venom into Arnim Zola or Knull.
Armor may seem out of place but is here as a way to defend your hard work on one of the lanes or create a lane you can play Black Panther into if your later play has to be Destroyer.
Budget – Series 2 and Below (pre-CL 474)
With a more limited collection, we can put in strong On Reveal package, along with Storm and Jessica Jones. The key play we are looking for is Jubilee on Kamar-Taj but we can also Iceman or Scorpion early on for huge disruption. White Tiger and Odin will often fill the rest of your board with 7 power cards and the deck combines consistency with high roll potential.
After Credits
As mentioned earlier, Shuri gets massive benefits from the location. So can Black Panther and Arnim Zola and these two cards can easily slotted into these decks as potential pay offs but are far from required.
The core gameplan is simple. Shuri into Red Skull into Taskmaster. We can also turn off Kamar-Taj whenever we like with Cosmo, making opposing decks harder to compete.
