Strategy and General Tips

Muir Island can benefit plenty of decks and can be more warping than it seems on the surface. Any deck which can play cards early gets benefit from the location and this encompasses a lot of decks, but decks which can use this additional power and scale it get a much bigger advantage than it seems on the surface.

First their are 3 main 1 drops which benefit significantly from the location. Deadpool and Human Torch both will double the added power when their effect is activated. This can scale out of control very quickly. Deadpool and Human Torch effectively gains +2 power each turn if you can activate them consistently later.

Iron Man is the next biggest benefactor of the location. Every card on the location gains an extra power on 5 and 6, with Iron Man on board your doubling this benefit. If we can get Mystique or Onslaught down too, we are doing even more. Iron Man alone though could invalidate your opponents commitment to the lane and may be enough by himself.

Acknowledging this deck has featured two articles in a row, but, it synergises with this location far too well. We can play Multiple Man or Human Torch on the location gaining value. We can then destroy them with Venom, keeping the power, revive on the location with The Phoenix Force and then move our revived movement card both on the turn it is revived and Turn 6.

Mister Negative is another deck which can flood Muir Island and get extra benefits as it can run both Iron Man and Mystique. With Magik now buffed, we can use her to get more of the pieces and play Mister Negative Destroy. This gives us the added protection of Knull taking the power back from destroyed cards if you get countered.

Silver Surfer and Ongoing come together with this one inspired by benjamin’s (@BenFromWild) excellent take on the mash up. Here we can use Jean Grey to limit our opponents, play Iron Man elsewhere then follow up with Silver Surfer or Spectrum. Mystique enters as a way to double our benefit on Muir Island if we can get Iron Man down on the location.

Decks which can focus the power onto Muir Island and benefit each turn could overrun the others during the location. The buffs to The Living Tribunal make it a prime candidate for the location. We also get to play Cosmo in this deck, which is very good with all the recent buffs to On Reveal cards. Just focus your efforts on two lanes and remember The Living Tribunal does not need to be played on the Cosmo lane.

Here we look to use Iron-Man to secure Muir Island try to buff another lane using Spectrum. We also have Cosmo as Enchantress protection and can fill the lane early with cards like The Punisher which can benefit from opponents doing the same.

What is Muir Island?

Muir Island is a small island off the coast of Scotland that is home to the Mutant Research Center, founded by Dr. Moira MacTaggert. The center is a leading facility for the study of mutants, and has been involved in many important events in the Marvel Universe, including the Muir Island Saga and the Legacy Virus. Muir Island has also been a frequent target for attack by anti-mutant forces, such as the Sentinels and the Brotherhood of Mutants.
