Iron Bounce

Deck of the Day – My Iron Bounce: Infinity Conquest Winner

Hello everyone, and welcome to Deck of the Day! I’m Glazer of Snap Judgments: The Official Marvel Snap Zone Podcast, and every weekday I’m going to be highlighting a different deck for you to try out!

Today, we have Kitty Pryde Bounce – how original! Well, this one was my homebrew the day after the Beast change. I hit Infinite with the deck 3-days into the season then, yesterday, I got an Infinity Conquest win with the list with one change. This deck has one Series 4 card – Spider-Ham – but that card is easily replaced by Iceman. There is also one Series 5 card – Hit-Monkey – but he is all but irreplaceable.

Intro + Disclaimers

For this article, sometimes these decks will be Tier 1, the most competitive decks in the metagame. Sometimes they will be fun tier. Often, they will feature Series 4 and 5 cards (which is hopefully less of an issue with the Card Acquisition change), but sometimes they will be Series 3 or even lower.

Additionally, these decks can come from anywhere – they could be homebrews, a really cool idea from your favorite content creator, a tried and true meta deck, and sometimes, well, we won’t really know where the deck came from. We endeavor, however, to credit original deck creators whenever possible, so if we miss one, please do let us know! Want to submit a deck for consideration? Email me [email protected].

Finally, check my YouTube page for two new decks every weekday! I’d appreciate the support.

Deck History

A few months back, Jeff Hoogland brought a homebrewed Bounce deck to a couple of creator tournaments, and (I may be mistaken here) won one and came in second in another.

Prior to the release of Hit Monkey and Kitty Pryde, the deck was far more disruptive. It ran Iceman, Korg, and Black Widow as a way to gum up the opponent’s board and had Darkhawk as its big power card. The deck was very strong, very consistent, and spawned its share of copycats, especially as Hit Monkey became a Season Pass card, until it was chased from the metagame by the short-lived Sandman Ramp vs. Patriot meta.

As time passed, cards were released, the game shifted, and when Kitty Pryde was released to all active players, Bounce became one of the top decks in the game. It wasn’t the very best deck – it was weak to Galactus and High Evolutionary according to Second Dinner’s internal data, but with a Galactus nerf on the horizon, Beast was turned from a 2-2 to a 3-4. This change was, to many, the death knell for bounce. However, the very evening of that change…

Bounce was NOT, in fact, killed by the beast nerf.

Bounce slowly but surely climbed the ranks until today, when it is considered by many to be the top deck in the game. It won this past weekend’s Snap Clash Tournament in the hands of DMoney. In the hands of Lamby, it won the Creator Clash.

I’ve not had time to use any of my 7 Conquest Infinity Tickets this week until Sunday, so I took the day to see if I could get an Infinity bordered Avatar. I had 5 runs, reaching game 5 in 3, twice with this deck, including the win. It feels unfair to basically every opponent who isn’t playing Lockjaw, and even then, it’s favored (though perhaps not as much as a version with Shang-Chi).

How to Play

Each card in the deck has at least a use or two and a turn or two different that it can be played. The deck is stellar at stacking power and has a whopping 5 scaling cards with Kitty Pryde, Angela, Bishop, The Collector, and Hit Monkey, along with the over-the-top power of Iron Man.

  • Turn 1: Bast or Kitty Pryde. If I have Bast, I often play it before Kitty if there’s one other game target in hand. I’ll usually be able to Bast twice in a game.
  • Turn 2: I prefer Kitty and another 1-drop- Bast or Spider-Ham. I will only play the Hood here if I have Basted him or know I am setting up for Falcon or Beast. I will play Angela if I don’t have a second 1-drop. I will always prioritize Kitty over Collector here.
  • Turn 3: This is where I usually start playing Kitty with Angela. If not, I play Bishop. If I don’t have Bishop and Angela is down (or not in hand) The Collector and Kitty are a very good play.
  • Turn 4: This is the bounce turn. I greatly prefer Beast here to make everything free. Falcon is mostly a backup who can provide extra power for The Collector or let me play more on Angela. There are also plenty of games where I’ll go Bast and Kitty into Kitty and 1-drop, into Angela and Kitty, then Bishop and Kitty on 4. These games just forego bounce.
  • Turn 6: Whichever strategy you didn’t employ the previous turn? That goes here.

Conclusion and Video

Kitty Pryde bounce is perhaps the strongest deck in all of Marvel Snap. This version is not as popular as Lamby’s or DMoney’s, but it’s a proven performer, hitting both Infinite and Infinity with a frankly absurd win rate. Try it out!
