Best Marvel Snap Decks – Surfer Meta

Check out the best Marvel Snap decks in this column before they become popular in the meta! There are a lot of awesome decks waiting to be discovered that can take your opponent's Cubes by surprise!

Hello everyone and welcome to Best Marvel Snap Decks of the Week! I’m Glazer of Snap Judgments: The Official Marvel Snap Zone Podcast, and in this article, I’m going to take you through all of my favorite decks this week. In addition to the podcast, I do my own daily videos where I scour the darkest corners of the internet (ahem X and the various Marvel Snap sites) to find the best decks in Marvel Snap before the meta notices.

Remember: Each deck title will take you to a video explanation of the deck, so don’t be shy – check them out!

#1 Deck On Infinite Ladder

Thanos was gutted in the OTA this week, but it was still in the top deck last season. No one is trying this build anymore, so it may still be OP—we just don’t know! Right now, though, Silver Surfer is absolutely dominating the Marvel Snap Ladder in various builds, including this #1 deck. Also, the February best deck is humming along near the top. Don’t sleep on it!

Deck Thoughts

YoWoodyMJ, an American from Arizona, is quickly establishing himself as the top Ladder player in the USA.

The beauty of this deck is the Mockingbird package. A Baron Zemo and Absorbing Man make Mockingbird cost three (two with Sera), which leaves it as a high-power card to play at the end of the game with Surfer. Sure, it won’t get the buff, but it is still top-line stats. The same combo works with just Brood, and both Brood and Absorbing Man make the card a 1-Cost. You don’t need that to win, though. Hope Summers opens up Silver Surfer and Absorbing Man combos, and those, with Forge and Nova in the deck, make Sebastian Shaw a huge threat. Gladiator needs no help and is keyword “big” all on his own.

Gladiator is the only replaceable high series card in the deck, though. Try Negasonic Teenage Warhead or Wolfsbane.

Deck Thoughts

BBAK is a Korean player that hit #1 with this deck in February (and was top 5 with it in March). The Italians are occasionally taking this to tournaments with great results.

No one—no Tier List maker—ever mentions this list, but it’s so straightforward to climb with. If you have Mister Negative, you Snap. If they Snap and you don’t have Mister Negative, you run. If the game is fair without Negative, see if Ravonna can get a combo like double Iron Man out early, or try to play Wong, Black Panther, and Arnim Zola to steal cubes. If not, run. When you lose, you lose a little, but when you win… wow.

You don’t need Zabu here, and in many ways the card is better as Psylocke. If you’re a newer player, though, this deck is cheap with only two Series 4 cards at the top end.

In the Johnson cup, a team-based series, FAK Crazy took the tournament by storm with absolutely amazing play. His status as a top player is now immortalized after he came in at the top of the Infinite Ladder in March.

Thanos was severely nerfed in March, with seemingly more nerfs to come. Still, no one is trying to play this deck. It’s lost some percentage points of power, but how many is basically impossible to say since everyone ditched the deck.

The game plan remains the same: draw early with the Stones to get your good stuff and a cheap Mockingbird. Use Hope Summers and Psylocke to energy cheat. If you can get a board lock through the opponent’s choices or Professor X, Cannonball is amazing. If not, Shang-Chi still does the job. Alioth is here, too, because sheeeeeeeeeesh. And Blob is still the biggest… usually.

There are tons of versions of this. Cull Obsidian or Crossbones can replace Cannonball, as can Magneto. Mobius M. Mobius can be a card like Luke Cage, Armor, or Cosmo. Blob or Alioth can be Red Hulk. You’ll need the rest.

What The Best Players Are Playing

The best players in Marvel Snap never stop brewing. Angela‘s return allowed Lamby to bring back an old favorite while Cannonball and Baron Zemo became fast friends in other decks.

Lamby is the all-time best player in Snap history. Here, with the return of Angela and the release of Red Hulk, he revisited a deck that he originally created (yes, before anyone else in Snap).

This is a simple scaling deck with the goal of bouncing Silk between Kraven and Angela by using Kitty Pryde. Jeff the Baby Land Shark works as an extra one-time Silk, as does Spider-Man, and Miles Morales is just cheap power. Hope Summers is an energy boost and Elsa Bloodstone is a power boost, and all of a sudden this is one of the decks that puts up mid-range power the best.

Magneto can replace Red Hulk here and you can use Nightcrawler for Jeff. You can also try Captain Marvel for Hope, but I’m less certain how that will work.

EvaZord is a top Brasilian player who lives at the top of the Ladder with unique builds.

In Ted Lasso, a character keeps saying, “Football is life.” Well, close, but no cigar: Cannonball is life. This one combines the Annihilus Junk package with the Baron Zemo Steal package, and Cannonball is the bow that ties it all together. If you have The Void on their side and Zemo/Gladiator on the other, guess what? Cannonball wins. Also, don’t sleep on double Shang-Chi.

You need Annihilus, Cannonball, Zabu, and Zemo here. Spider-Ham can be Iceman.

Owlgod is the Korean player we have to thank for the rise of the original Silk Move decks, and after a break, he’s back to break the meta.

This deck combines Lockdown (instead of Annihilus) with the Steal package and Cannonball, and it also invites opponents to beat Red Hulk. Owl has a great Red Hulk strategy that involves rarely playing the card. If an opponent can’t beat Red Hulk, they run, so an early Snap pays dividends. If they can, they stay, and then you can figure out how and play other cards to win the game like the aforementioned Cannonball. Daredevil makes that so much less of a risk, and both Mobius M. Mobius and Cosmo let you counter nearly anything!

You’ll need Red Hulk, Cannonball, and Baron Zemo here. You can try Jubilee for Iron Lad, and Luke Cage or Rogue for Mobius. Spider-Ham can always be Iceman, but Jeff is needed for Professor X.

Brew Kings

Many more Top players are more known for their brewing than their likewise stellar play. Here’s what they’ve come up with.

The pirate king Tuccrr is one of my favorite people in the game, and he just went full-time with Marvel Snap content!

This deck is awesome. It can abuse Kitty Pryde by making her huge with Shuri to copy with Taskmaster, or you can do the same thing with Vision or Red Skull. You can also use Hope Summers or Wave to get out Red Hulk early and copy that instead for an insane power dump. This isn’t fancy, but it sure wins.

You need Red Hulk, Kitty Pryde, and Hope Summers here, but Jeff can be Nightcrawler, Forge, or Hulkbuster.

Denmanfalcon is a longtime supporter of our content who just won the first BrookLan live Marvel Snap tournament, hosted by SuperTechGod and ParryManilow, with this list.

The list is perfectly tuned for the meta. It’s able to roll decks that try to card spam with Sandman and go over other decks with the Corvus Glaive + Hela package. You can even just win as a huge ramp deck since Sandman into Red Hulk is so much power. Plus, our old friends Doctor Doom and Odin are also here. This is just a silly, powerful deck!

You will need Corvus Glaive, but Red Hulk is okay as Giganto. That makes this one of the cheapest decks to get into. Congrats Denman!

Marvel Snap Zone’s own den, french player extraordinaire, has this spicy list.

Baron Zemo is a lot of mid-game power, so den combined him with another mid-game power spike card, Werewolf By Night to go off. This is combined with an awesome way of denying late-game power. No… not Cannonball; it’s Valkyrie! Everything else is built to serve these combinations with Black Swan, an inspired addition.

Honestly, this deck works fine with Gladiator or Elsa Bloodstone in Zemo’s spot (cut Yondu then). Spider-Ham or Nico Minoru can be Iceman or Korg. You need Werewolf, Hope, and Black Swan.

Deck Thoughts

Marvel Snap Zone’s Bohe is an amazing Mexican player who writes the best deck guides!

Bohe has the classic Surfer/Patriot here. The list uses Brood and Absorbing Man to bridge the gap between the two cards while also using those cards as tempo for Alioth and, to a lesser extent, Negasonic Teenage Warhead. Iron Lad is insurance for a whiff, and Mister Sinister is a fine backup for Brood.

That’s all pretty straightforward. What this deck does special, though, is a Supergiant Package. Not only can she mess up combos, but she can hide an Absorbing Man who will then copy either Alioth or Doctor Doom for an easy win.

Mockingbird is free power here, but not a requirement. I’d try Baron Zemo without her or even just Rogue. The other high series cards are needed.
