Snap Judgments Top 5 Series 5 Cards

Good morning all! I’m back at Marvel Snap Zone with a deck of the day: a top deck for you to try out! My aim for this article is to get you in and out quickly and give you something new to play every day along with the tools to do well with it. Check out the video for a verbal explanation of this and three other new decks.

Wait, that’s not what we’re doing today! Let’s shake it up. I want to go over the Top 5 Series 5 cards for new and returning players to buy in Marvel Snap!

5. Arishem

Sorry for the boring answer to start. Honestly, though, Arishem has remained strong since release. He combines the power of ramp with the unpredictability of card generation. I played an Ongoing deck yesterday that should have rocked Arishem in Conquest, but despite the big deck he kept seeign Enchantress or generating cards like Ghost Rider”]. That’s the power here.

On your way to collection complete, Arishem makes cards like Nick Fury actually viable, and when you arrive at endgame, he’s the only way to really effectively play fun cards like Eson or Thanos. If you do get Arishem, the next cards to target are Alioth, Thanos, Ghost Rider”], and Legion.

4. Merlin

While Arishem gives you a deck, Merlin can go into nearly any deck. He’s an incredibly versatile card whose spells make your whole collection better. Cards like Sentry or Hood are extremely powerful, but hard to play – Merlin fixes that. Certain decks die to bad locations or MagikMerlin is great there, too.

But those are just the icing on the cake – the real reason to get Merlin is Werewolf by Night. WWBN and Merlin is a top line points package that makes one of the most powerful cards in the game a breeze to play. Most decks in Snap want to end the game with a 5 or less cost card. That card – Juggernaut, Ghost Rider”], Sage, whatever + a moving Werewolf thanks to Merlin is just back breaking.

He’s not just great with Werewolf though – Zombie decks, Darkhawk decks, Sasquatch/Mysterio decks – so many Snap decks LOVE and must have this card.

3. Madame Web

Move is hard to play. Move is likely the most powerful archetype. Despite move being so powerful, because it is hard to play, it is rarely nerfed. In order to play move effectively, you need very few high series cards. Madame Web is the most important of these high series cards. She’s harder to use. She’s unlikely to be nerfed.

If you get a move deck, you can play it with just Madame Web and Sparky. Want to go all the way with the deck? You’ll also want Hellion and Arana. That’s it. If you can handle the deck, this is such an easy buy.

2. Victoria Hand

Victoria Hand is great, and since her release, she’s never been nerfed. In fact, plenty of cards around her have been buffed – notably Misery. Her deck is rarely the best in the game, but it’s also rarely out of the top 5 and basically never out of the top 10. She’s one of the best point packages and probably the best of those that can be played with any tech cards, but she is a nerf risk.

One of my favorite things about her is that early on she can be played with Moon Girl, Agent Coulson, Mirage, Quinjet, and more… and slowly many of those cards can find other options or extra tools. Start with Frigga, but there’s also the extremely powerful and aforementioned Misery or relative newcomer Bastion. Iron Patriot and Kate Bishop are pretty great, too. If this survives in tact, it’s probably #1.

1. Moonstone

But the #1 card for me is one I’m not really worried about and one that I feel I can pretty often snap on. Moonstone gives me a huge power spike to several of the best decks, one being her obvious synergy with Victoria Hand.

But she’s also the absolute key card to the ongoing list. Her synergies there with Captain Carter, Captain America, and more make the deck one of the top power outputs in the game. You can make that deck work at a high level without many high series cards, too.

But even if you feel you can’t, well, if you open Mystique, this card is suddenly OP. Iron Man to win a lane on turn 5, then Mystique under Moonstone on turn 6? Very little can stop that without tech. You can access that deck right away, you just want to make sure to use a Devil Dinosaur or Klaw as a backup plan.

And there’s more! Got Ravonna or Quinjet to make things cheap? Make that discount -2. Mister Fantastic? +6 in multiple lanes is great! Patriot decks, too, are thrilled for another power piece.

Moonstone is the most slept on card and, to me, the best to get. If you want to know what other cards are most slept on, come back tomorrow, and this should be the end of the article… but wait.

0. Zombie Scarlet Witch

This is #0 because it’s cheating. Zombie Scarlet Witch, the current season pass, is a Series 5 card. If you played the last limited time game mode and then focus on the next one, coming next week, well, you have the cards to support her. You’d like Zombie Giant Man too, but that’s only one support piece. I remain un-sold on Zombie Mister Fantastic even in that deck, by the by. That package, for cheap, gives you access to a splashable power package on a budget.

But that doesn’t but ZSW at the top of this list. First, as the season pass, she’s one less card you’ll need tow orry about later. Add on that she comes with gold and credits for getting her, and she’s fairly likely equivalent to another Series 4 card (close enough). Oh, and if you buy her on the MarvelSnap.com webshop? You also get a free Series 5 pack. That’s 3 cards for one. Sure, it’s cheating, but she’s easily the best investment.

Thanos for stopping by! Check out a stream on Twitch.tv/PulseGlazer.
