Avengers vs. X-Men Imbalance Patch Event

Best Decks for the Avengers vs. X-Men Imbalance Patch Event

Are you Team Avengers or Team X-Men? During the next week, pick one and get rewarded with extra power, or try to build a deck with both teams included for maximum value!

Hello Marvel enthusiasts, and welcome to this Marvel Snap tournament finals, where Team Avengers and Team X-Men will battle for the ultimate prize: Glory!

For the upcoming week in this season’s Imbalance Patch event, both teams will battle in order to determine which are the ultimate superheroes in Marvel Snap. In a battle with 35 competitors for both teams, our favorite superheroes will receive some bonuses when they form a group of three on the same location (Avengers) or are played four times during a match (X-Men). Through those bonuses, the decks we form around those synergies will be worth more points, ultimately shooting for everyone’s wish: The demise of Thanos.

Indeed, the Mad Titan is currently acing the metagame, abusing the newly released card Mockingbird, part of team Avengers by the way. Then, we have about a week, until the next OTA Balance Update on March 21, 2024 to find the best decks around both teams, and see if we can shake up the current environment.

Ready? Pick your team!

Opening our team’s presentation: Lockdown.

With half the deck being an Avenger, we potentially have enough to collect the team bonus twice. Plus, Lockdown is notorious for targeting specific locations, so the natural play style of the deck entice us to stack our cards onto the same location.

Note that the Good Cards shell can easily build around the Avengers team, as all the 4-Cost cards in the deck plus Vision are Avengers. Then, even if you didn’t like the Lockdown shell, you can still keep Zabu, the Avengers, and build something else around it.

Joining Lockdown in team Avengers, another deck looking to disrupt the opponent: Pure Evolutionary!

While its counterpart, InSheNaut, has picked team X-Men for this competition, the first of the two decks built around the big bad had to go with the Avengers, as Spider-Woman is an iconic card alongside Abomination.

Note that InSheNaut can easily be built for Team Avengers, with Daredevil, She-Hulk, Hulk and Wasp already working together during the Valentine’s event last month.

Entering the competition in order to defeat its related archetype, Thanos Zoo might finally have a shot against Thanos Control, with five Avengers included in the deck!

Ant Man, Iron Lad and Iron Man are super simply to slot in the deck, while Captain America replaces Cosmo, typically being the favored 3-cost, or Black Swan. Last, Mockingbird takes over Valkyrie, limiting the disruptive potential, but adding a [0/5] to the mix.

Not that you could remove some non-Avenger cards to include more 1-Cost cards (Squirrel Girl synergizes well with Mockingbird) and have Ka-Zar join in on the fun!

With four Avengers being part of the traditional way to build the deck in Wasp, Thor, Shang-Chi and Vision, the Mighty Lockjaw deck naturally joins team Avengers. Note that Wong and Black Panther almost joined the party as well, but the random nature of the deck made it a little difficult to find some balance.

There are a lot of On Reveal cards in the Avengers though, so we can definitely get something going in around Wong!

Although Falcon is team Avengers, Beast is the true icon for the Bounce archetype, so it had to join X-Men!

Cable and The Collector probably don’t need to be in the deck, as we might want Hit-Monkey or Werewolf by Night instead in the deck. Yet, the event rewards as many X-Men as possible on the board, and Cable has become pretty good with its buff, while The Collector always worked well with Beast and Falcon.

It is always worth discussing the superstar of the event for team X-Men, Kitty Pryde. Indeed, if you play her four times, you will get the team bonus. It won’t net you a lot of points, but this means you could play a deck with less X-Men than four.

While we could potentially get the Avengers bonus if we played She-Hulk, Hulk and Wasp onto the same location, the six X-Men included in the deck naturally tilt the deck towards that team.

Armor has replaced Alioth in the original list for the sake of the event, but this has been one of the best performing lists around Pixie over the past week.

With six X-Men joining him, Loki has joined the side of Professor Xavier, and except for a couple of changes, seems able to rock most of its usual deck.

Kitty Pryde and Bishop are the most curious inclusions, but they synergize well with The Collector or Hope Summers, alongside the general patterns of Loki, which tends to play a ton of cards.

With eight X-Men cards included, Zoo easily takes the crown for archetype able to fit the most cards from the event. Imagine if we get to play all of those, this is a bonus eight power for free! It doesn’t get better than this for team X-Men, and Team Avengers needs to get three on each location to get a better bonus.

We could have gone as far as including She-Hulk and Echo for a potential Avengers synergy too, but I decided to save it for another deck. Yes, we are not done. We have some deck scoring points for both teams!

This one almost built itself to be honest. We have five Avengers, three X-Men, but Kitty Pryde can be enough to fulfill the condition to play four, so we’re good here. Hercules is a consideration in the 4-Cost card slot, replacing another Avenger to focus more on boosting Kraven.

This one was a little trickier to build, especially to get enough X-Men in the mix, but the end result isn’t so bad honestly. Bounce with some controls tools sprinkled in there.

Closing Words

There we have it folks! Eleven decks to support your favorite team, or fight for both sides if you can’t pick which one you like the most. During the Valentine’s Day event, we actually saw some decks rise and feel competitive for a week, so here’s to hoping this new imbalance event brings that same feeling. We’ll be back with a full post-patch meta report and see if this event has shaken anything up!

Have a deck you want to share with us, and try to convince me to join either Avengers or the X-Men team? Come share it on the Marvel Snap Zone community Discord, or follow my Twitter page where I share decks and biased opinions about the game.

Good Game Everyone.
