The Hot Location for the next 24 hours is Klyntar: After turn 4, merge your cards here into a Symbiote. This is a Hot Location for Marvel Snap’s June 2023 season, Spider-Versus, that starts on selected Wednesdays and Sundays at 3 AM GMT. For 24 hours, it has a 50% chance of showing up in games. Players who strategically build around the location or counter the decks that do so can have an advantage over their opponents! Let’s find out what the best strategies, cards, and decks are for the new meta!
Please note, the Hot Location for June 25, 2023 was originally scheduled to be Lamentis-1.
Strategy and General Tips
Klyntar‘s effect happens at the end of Turn 4. This leaves plenty of room for interaction with the location. Additionally it is important to note that the Symbiote it produces is a 4-Cost card. When the cards “merge”, they should lose their negative effects which could be one avenue to approach this one.

Using the Sauron package of cards is the most effective way to abuse the location as you get an extra way to turn off the negative effects if we miss on other effects. Typhoid Mary and Ebony Maw both benefit significantly from the location as they can be turned off shortly after playing them.

If you are looking to make changes to existing decks, Attuma and Titania are safer inclusions as you don’t have to contend with the negative effect of Typhoid Mary if you miss on the location, but still get a high power upside if the location does flip.

When locations like this have featured previously, cards such as Shang-Chi have been a possible way to counter the other side of the board. We can also use cards like Storm or Scarlet Witch to transform the location and stop the merge. If your opponent commits an Ebony Maw for example, turning the location off can result in a easy win.
Deck Features
The buff back to Red Skull puts Sauron at the top of the recommendations for this location easily. The extra shots at turning off negative locations should lead to this deck being significantly stronger during the location and almost a must play. The suggested swap is to include Shang-Chi for counter play as this and other versions without Sauron and including Zero are likely to be heavily played.
It will be important to recognize when you have to throw priority and go for Taskmaster and She Hulk. Rule of thumb is to try to be off priority if you see cards like Zabu played early. These tend to indicate the ability to counter you with Shang-Chi. Whenever you can play Armor on 2 also to set up protection for your high value 1 drops. Missing Sauron – play Cosmo for extra protection.
An effective control deck is likely to be good into the location. We can expect to be playing against more Ebony Maw and 4 energy, 10 power cards than usual. Killmonger, Shang-Chi and Enchantress help here. Enchantress is so we can remove the opposing Armor prior to Killmonger or Shang-Chi. If you can line this play up with Zabu and Sera, very few players will see it coming.
We also need to support the Zabu inclusion, so we can play the Hazmat package instead of the usual Hit Monkey. We have the additional ways of negating Typhoid Mary due to the location but also two ways in deck via Luke Cage and Enchantress to turn off the negative effect. Hazmat and Nova can both also serve as board-wide buffs for the deck.
For this location, I get to bring back one of my favorites as the wildcard of the week. Two big 4-Cost cards come to mind as great with this location, Attuma and Typhoid Mary. Played on Turn 4 and will immediately lose the effect leaving a 10 power Symbiote. Therefore we need Armor in the deck for Turn 5 alongside enough efficient cards to push power around the board.
If we add in Zero, we can play a lot of negative effect low cost cards, creating a Zoo deck which can consolidate a location on 4, use Armor to protect it, whilst having enough other power cards to fill your curve. If we miss all the cards can be used in multiple combinations to push power.
Cloak is the signature piece included. Try playing Cloak on one lane and Ebony Maw on another on 3. On 4 you can then move Ebony Maw to the Cloak lane whilst playing another card behind Cloak, even without Zero. If we pull this off on Klyntar and get to play Typhoid Mary on 4 that’s 4 + 7 + 10 = 21 power on turn 4 in one card with no negative effects! Invisible Woman also does work in this deck as way to hide negative effects to the end of the game as well.
If you don’t have Titania, play another good 1 drop. If you don’t have Attuma, play Red Skull or push power across your board with Blue Marvel or Ka-Zar.
Series 2 and Below (pre-CL 474)
Series 2 has access to Ebony Maw and we can try to abuse this card with the location whilst playing a solid Devil Dinosaur Deck. The goal is to play Ebony Maw on 3 into the location behind some other cards like Sunspot and Angela. They will all then combine into a Symbiote and make one card with high power.
Turn 4 you’re looking to fill your hand with Moon Girl or play Jessica Jones, followed by Turn 5 & 6 Devil Dinosaur plays.
What is Klyntar?

The Plant of the Symbiotes, is a named literally after the symbiote word for “cage”. When Knull created the symbiotes he created this artificial planet and hive mind for the symbiotes. During Knull‘s war on the light, the link between him and the symbiotes was severed, and the planet rebelled, “caging” Knull at the centre of Klyntar, until his eventual reawakening.
When Knull regained his power, he asserted his control over the symbiotes at Klyntar once more, eventually destroying the Homeworld and combining the remaining symbiotes there into Symbiote Dragons, once again under his control.
