Off-Meta Destroyer Lockout Deck - July 2022

Off-Meta Destroyer Lockout Deck – July 2022

Introduction

Players are finding the most optimal configuration of decks in the confinements of the Mysterious Card rewards in Pool 1 and Pool 2, as that is where many players will spend time on before moving on to Pool 3 (Collection Level 462 and beyond) and having their card acquisition slow down a lot.

In today’s Deck Highlight, we have a more unique configuration of 12 cards that look to lockdown locations using Storm and Professor X, then securing the win with Destroyer.

Some tips from the deck’s author:

The ideal scenario is either Storm + Armor (or Storm + Bucky) at a location, or Prof. X at a location, before you drop Destroyer on turn 6. Basically you want to know – by virtue of your opponent not being able to play cards at that location – that you’ve won at least 1 before you drop Destroyer. Usually 16 power is enough to take the second one.

You can also sometimes use Storm to bait your opponent into overloading a location you have no intention of taking. If your opponent has been ignoring a location, you can Storm on turn 4 at another location, and your opponent will often drop cards there on the following turn. You instead ignore that location and drop Prof. X at the empty one, then throw Destroyer on the last location on turn 6.

Prof. X prevents your stuff from being destroyed by Destroyer, so it does double duty – you can protect your stacked location while ensuring your opponent can’t take it on turn 6.

If you try those methods and your opponent plays around it (and thus you lock down the location with your opponent winning), you just retreat and lose your 1 cube; the deck can very often take 4-8 cube wins since your board looks very sketchy before turn 6.

E: Prof X also does a number against move decks, which are reasonably prevalent right now.
