Nico Minoru and Elsa Bloodstone Decks: Weekend Challenge Mission Guide

Our guide for the this week's set of Weekend Challenge Missions featuring Nico Minoru and Elsa Bloodstone! Complete the missions efficiently using our decks, or find out how they are performing and decide if you want the card!

During the weekend, there is now one more set of Missions for players to complete: The Weekend Missions! These involve additional rewards for winning games related to the week’s new card and the Season Pass card. These missions provide extra Collector’s Tokens and Gold! This week’s Weekend Challenges are:

Mission#Reward
Play On Reveal Cards40200 Credits
Win with Elsa Bloodstone starting in your Deck8150 Gold
Win with Nico Minoru starting in your Deck4200 Collector’s Tokens

You need to win games with the card starting in your deck, and it does not count if the card was generated by cards such as Cable, Loki, and Maria Hill. Each of these reward amounts will vary depending on the difficulty of the mission. There will be Weekly Missions available for each new card release. The goal of Weekly Missions is to allow players to earn back Collector’s Tokens from new cards and subsidize their cost.

The token missions are expected to differ from week to week, depending on the card. For example, three wins for 100 Collector’s Tokens, four wins for 300, and five wins for 500, depending on the week (1,000 Collector’s Tokens is on the highest end).

Most players will want to be efficient with these missions, so today we will give you three different decks that incorporate Nico Minoru and Black Knight.

We’ll also give you a short guide on how to get the most out of the deck and finish the missions quickly, but first let’s take a quick look at the new card’s performance this week.

Nico Minoru is the second Series 5 card of the Bloodstone Season, and possibly one of the most complex cards to have been released to date. She has 7 different effects, all of varying strength, but in practice they can all have uses. She challenges the player to determine the best time, or even just determine when it is good enough, to play the card based on the game state, your hand, and so on. Is it actually skill testing though or is it just the allure of choice?

One immediate synergy which found success is with the Destroy package. This is not only because arguably, the best effect involves destroying the next card played to draw 2 cards, but also the rest of the effects can help buff your key Destroy targets. This gives her a lot of utility in the deck and helps make the deck more flexible than it was previously. As far as direct synergy decks for utilizing the card, this has been the most successful direction and the natural home for the card.

The second most popular place the card is showing up is everywhere. Whether this is earned or not is hard to determine still now, but she definitely can be used in a wide variety of decks, with decks relying on Elsa Bloodstone. Not only she has the excellent draw effect which can target some of the disposal early game of these decks, she also can move cards and provide buffs to key cards you want to scale like Kitty Pryde and Jeff the Baby Land Shark.

This makes her a natural fit, but harder to use in these decks as the window where she is useful can be smaller, and you have to compromise more often. These choices feel great when they come off, but the question should already start being asked – is she actually doing enough in some of the decks she is showing up in?

This is her big weakness, and it should not be underestimated. She can feel great in lots of decks, but as a Jill of All Trades and Master of None she is finding herself into more decks that could potentially be better with another synergy card. For example, since the OTA nerfs and buffs, playing another 1 drop like Quinjet in Loki decks may once again be the right direction, however the experience the past few days has been to see Nico appearing in what feels like every deck, regardless of how much synergy. In practice she really only shines when in decks with lots of early targets for the effects and which don’t need to draw a specific effect to find uses for her.

She improves decks like Thanos and Destroy. Her early performance in these decks has been excellent, however she is not yet proving to be a card you need to play in every deck, but this card still has the potential to be one of the most played cards in the game. Why? Even though not needed in every deck, she can be a nice point of difference in different decks for 1 Energy. Do you have to own her to play all these decks though? At this point no, but we have to keep watching how this one develops.

So, how do we use Nico Minoru to rack up wins and complete the Weekend Challenge Missions?

Destroy deck seems to be the most settled of the decks with Nico Minoru. She elevates this deck significantly, as most the effects can be used to assist your gameplan and destroying her also can be a benefit. This makes her a natural fit and the last question is whether to run Death or not.

The list here features Death, however if Mobius M. Mobius starts showing up a lot for you she can be cut for Hulkbuster and still have a very solid deck, built around losing priority and dropping Taskmaster alongside another big card still.

The Phoenix Force grew in popularity this week, mostly due to factors related to Human Torch. However, the Human Torch builds are susceptible to hard counters which can cost you a lot of Cubes.

As a result, this version looks to lean into Multiple Man as the second direction we can take instead. Nico has lots of effects which work with Hulkbuster, and this gives you more flexibility than The Phoenix Force decks normally have.

This is not an easy deck to play but one that gets lots of mileage out of Nico Minoru and can catch anyone not prepared off guard. Additionally, consider swapping Arnim Zola for Heimdall if you want a simpler version to play.

Thanos is the deck with the most disposable parts, with all the Infinity Stones potentially being easy targets for the Nico Minoru spells. This means she never feels like a dead card and she helps you become unpredictable in a deck with strong tools like Professor X and Alioth to win the game.

One simpler way to play both of the Weekend Challenge cards this week is in an honest Zoo deck. Nico Minoru makes this basic deck more flexible and provides one of the most cost effective ways to attack the missions this weekend. Just do not cut Armor!

Closing Thoughts

Wins with the new card may seem a tall order some weeks depending what quality of card is released. Hopefully this guide helps you decide first if you want the card prior to the missions coming out, and what you can potentially play to complete the missions quickly!
