Red Hulk and Baron Zemo Decks: Bonus Challenge (Weekend Mission) Guide

Our guide for the this week's set of Bonus Challenge (Weekend Missions) featuring Red Hulk and Baron Zemo! Complete the missions efficiently using our decks, or find out how they are performing and decide if you want the card!

During the weekend, there is now one more set of Missions for players to complete: The Bonus Challenge! These involve additional rewards for winning games related to the week’s new card and the Season Pass card. These missions provide extra Collector’s Tokens and Gold!

You need to win games with the card starting in your deck, and it does not count if the card was generated by cards such as Cable, Loki, and Maria Hill. Each of these reward amounts will vary depending on the difficulty of the mission.

There will be Bonus Challenge Missions available for each new card release to allow players to earn back Collector’s Tokens and subsidize their cost. Players can also expect the rewards to be stabilized at 200 Tokens to help them plan their token budget for the month.

Bonus Challenge: April 5, 2024

This week’s Bonus Challenge Missions are:

Mission#Reward
Win Matches with a Snap6125 Credits
Win with Red Hulk starting in your Deck4200 Collector’s Tokens
Win a Match with 40+ Total Power10125 Credits

As this is a five-week Season, Gold Missions should resume from next week. We will still assess Baron Zemo here to see how the Season Pass card is doing.

Week 4 and 5 of the season will have a Baron Zemo weekend mission with 375 Gold each for 750 Gold total to represent the 5 week season.

Zemo will still get season pass missions with the same total Gold other season pass cards have received from weekend missions.

The final two weekend of the season will both include a Zemo mission. That mission will have double the amount of gold as usual to ensure the same total amount of gold from weekend missions.

Think of the other few weeks as extra credits that previously wouldn’t have been available plus you aren’t forced into playing a Zemo deck every weekend if you would prefer not.

We could have communicated it better but our intent was to add value not add stress like it has so far. Hopefully everyone can enjoy a few weekends of broader missions and extra credits before pulling out Zemo decks to finish the season with big gold missions.

Most players will want to be efficient with these missions, so today we will give you three different decks that incorporate Red Hulk and Baron Zemo.

We’ll also give you a short guide on how to get the most out of the deck and finish the missions quickly, but first let’s take a quick look at the new card’s performance this week.

The Thunderbolts season is here with two new cards: Baron Zemo and Red Hulk. With two very different effects and a fresh season to climb, both new cards had a lot of room to make an impact on the early meta. So, how have they been playing, and what can help you make the most of them during this weekend and beyond?

Baron Zemo

Baron Zemo is an interesting card. It has an effect that can often help your opponent. It targets the lowest cost card in their deck, so when he’s played on Turn 3 he has a better chance of improving your opponent’s draws than assisting your board. It can be combined with other cards to create “mill” decks, but these can still fall short on power. However, Baron Zemo is more effective when played later on. This way you impact your opponent’s draws less and you still get the benefit of the average of seven to nine power with potential upside from Baron Zemo. The upside and flexibility to play it late are what saves this card and makes it an interesting one to play. If, however, you’re strictly looking for stats on board, there are plenty of other options (most of which carry less downside). For example, Gladiator has eight power and is very likely to destroy the card pulled. It can also pull important midrange or combo pieces that Baron Zemo is unlikely to impact.

Overall, Baron Zemo is a strong enough card that has interesting applications. That makes for a very worthwhile Season Pass card because it can open up some new play patterns. It’s just far from one that feels required to compete. Alongside other cards like Yondu and Iceman, he can slot into a lot of decks. Just remember that most of the time when you play him on Turn 3 he is actually helping your opponent.

Red Hulk

Red Hulk, on the other hand, is Red Hulk. He can come down very easily for 15 to 19 power, which is a lot in Marvel Snap without any other requirements. It just requires your opponent to miss a turn or two of using all their energy. When you play the card, you find this happens often. As such, the developers added a downside to Red Hulk that has caused a lot of debate: your opponent sees the effect. This means not only do they know the exact power of the card, they also know you have it in hand. Many would see this as a downside, but, in practice, the power is so high it doesn’t actually matter.

Red Hulk is very often the biggest card you can play on Turn 6 now. It pairs well with decks that can get priority and stay ahead during the earlier turns, and it’s great at punishing decks that don’t play “on curve” by telling them they are falling behind. It is a very strong card because, let’s face it, stats on cards is the name of the game. However, other 6-Cost cards can compete with Red Hulk, so you can get by without including it.

So, how do you use Baron Zemo and Red Hulk to rack up wins and complete the Bonus Challenge Missions?

As I mentioned above, I’ve found that playing Baron Zemo later is better than earlier in my testing this week. This deck can afford to play him earlier, but it can also use him late for stats alongside other efficient threats like Maximus and Gladiator. It makes up for “helping” your opponent by utilizing Doctor Octopus to pull the opponent’s cards into one easy-to-deal-with lane. Once you have made this play, you can use Ghost-Spider to reposition or just use this information to find the best way to win the lanes. This direction (i.e. using Baron Zemo for stats later on) generally works better than trying to mill your opponent.

Red Hulk has a much smaller impact on how you play the decks he is in. He does, however, provide a strong end game card to lots of decks that get ahead early on. The recent Angela buff really helps here as well because you can get ahead from Turn 1 more often now. Darkhawk and Sentry decks really like this since they are often only really competing for one lane on Turn 6. So why not just play both Darkhawk and Sentry with Red Hulk?

For those who want to feel a little trickier with the plays, this Move deck with Angela really enjoys having Red Hulk on Turn 6 as well.

Closing Thoughts

Wins with the new card may seem a tall order some weeks depending what quality of card is released. Hopefully this guide helps you decide first if you want the card prior to the missions coming out, and what you can potentially play to complete the missions quickly!
