Spider-Ham and Ghost-Spider Decks: Weekend Mission Guide

Our guide for the this week's set of Weekend Missions featuring Spider-Ham and Ghost-Spider! Complete the missions efficiently using our decks or decide if you want to purchase the card after!

During the weekend, there is now one more set of Missions for players to complete: The Weekend Missions! These involve additional rewards for winning games related to the week’s new card and the Season Pass card. These missions provide extra Collector’s Tokens and Gold! To recap, each weekend will have three Weekend Missions:

  • Win Games to Earn Credits
  • Win Games with Season Pass Card to Earn Gold
  • Win Games with Newly Released Card to Earn Tokens

You need to win games with the card starting in your deck, and it does not count if the card was generated by cards such as Cable and Maria Hill. Each of these reward amounts will vary depending on the difficulty of the mission. There will be Weekly Missions available for each new card release. The goal of Weekly Missions is to allow players to earn back Collector’s Tokens from new cards and subsidize their cost.

The token missions are expected to differ from week to week, depending on the card. For example, three wins for 100 Collector’s Tokens, four wins for 300, and five wins for 500, depending on the week (1,000 Collector’s Tokens is on the highest end).

MissionReward

Win with Ghost-Spider starting in your Deck150 Gold
Win with Spider-Ham starting in your Deck300 Collector’s Tokens

Most players will want to be efficient with these missions, so today we will give you three different decks that incorporate Spider-Ham and Ghost-Spider. We’ll also give you a short guide to get the most out of the deck and finish the missions quickly, but first let’s take a quick look at the new card’s performance this week.

Compensation for last week’s Weekend Missions are still planned for next week:

  • 1000 Tokens for anyone that purchased Silk during her spotlight week.
  • 150 Gold for anyone who purchased the Season Pass during Week 1 or Week 2.
  • 200 Credits for all players.

Performance

Spider-Ham is living up to expectations as it not only provides game-winning disruption on some occasions, it also gives you significant information on what your opponent has in hand and, therefore, what they may be playing. This information can be used to inform how you make your plays every single turn, and this value should not be underestimated.

Outside of the power of the effect, the card is really linear. Bounce emerged as the first natural home, and due to the energy cost and being reduced to zero via Beast it should remain a strong home. Although re-activating the effect has diminishing returns, in practice you don’t need to bounce the card to get enough impact from it.

This means building with Spider-Ham can be as simple as being able to carry one below curve card in the deck and still have a strategy to win the game. This will make slotting the card in for the missions simple enough. The card shines to it’s full potential where the information you receive can help you make correct plays. Supporting pieces of decks like Lockdown, Lockjaw, and Electro Ramp are all excellent places to experiment with the card.

There are some interesting interactions to note with the Pig that you should be aware of. These can lose you games. The Pig is (now fixed) as a 0-Cost card with zero power for the purposes of reductions once transformed, leading to the following interactions:

  • The card is considered a new card in hand and Quinjet will reduce the cost.
  • The Pig locks in place any power Knull or Evolved Hulk are showing in hand. If you hit Knull after several destroy effects, it will have the power already gained locked in place.
  • Shadow King will reduce the Pig back to zero power.
  • The Pig also locks Death‘s cost reductions into place.
  • Locations like Quantum Realm adjust base power, meaning they adjust the zero power of the Pig (effectively buffing the card by two power instead of reducing it).

But how do we pair him with Ghost-Spider to rack up wins and complete the missions this weekend?

My primary recommendation this week has to be a Move and Bounce style deck. This version carries The Collector as we have multiple 1-drops we want to (hopefully) bounce twice. Ghost-Spider forms part of our Movement package, aiming to move Human Torch as many times as possible. Spider-Ham is our disruptive tool that can be bounced efficiently, buffing both Angela and The Collector.

Another direction is to play the movement cards alongside Wave to lock the game to a final turn of Aero or Heimdall. Spider-Ham is here just as a good one drop that allows for information and disruption. The experiment here is playing Beast as a way to pick several cards back up to play alongside Wave on Turn 5. The goal is to get additional value from these move cards and overwhelm our opponents a turn early thanks to Beast.

In the ultimate Movement gauntlet, this final deck has more moving pieces than you may think imaginable, and it is for those who want to test themselves. The ceiling here should be very high, and the deck runs the single most important tech card right now: Shang-Chi. Unfortunately, it may be hard to drop the cards on Turn 5 before an opposing Wave, but it should result in some excellent highlight plays.

Closing Thoughts

Wins with the new card may seem a tall order some weeks depending what quality of card is released. Hopefully this guide helps you decide first if you want the card prior to the missions coming out, and what you can potentially play to complete the missions quickly.
