In Marvel Snap, new cards are released weekly into Series 4 or 5, and players need to carefully think about whether they should purchase the card or not. To help players make better decisions and build better decks based on their collections, we rate all the cards from Series 4 and 5 into a Meta Tier List and review the current meta.
- Each week on Tuesday, a new Series 4 or 5 card is introduced to the game. For more information on card release schedules, click here.
- Series 4 and 5 cards can be obtained from Spotlight Caches that appear every 120 Collection Levels after 500. They can be one of the three featured cards that rotate every week, or a random Series 4 or 5 card.
- Series 4 cards cost 3,000 Collector’s Tokens and Series 5 cards cost 6,000 from the Token Shop.
- Cards no longer have a scheduled Series Drop; it is now at the discretion of the developer. Most recently, 14 cards dropped series with the patch on January 9, 2024. There are one or two more planned for 2024.
Introduction to the New Card Meta Tier List Report
This report is informed by our new approach to rating and reviewing all of the Series 4 and 5 cards. Over the past few months, it has become clear that Series Drops will not be occurring as often, and major changes can occur to cards that change their value. This changes the previously maintained Meta Tier Lists almost weekly, which was never the original intention of our old Tier List structure.
Instead, these reports will discuss the biggest movers and shakers and highlight at least one deck to try (although I will often aim for more), and the Tier List will be updated accordingly. Hopefully, this will help ensure this is a valuable resource for reviewing cards to consider investing in, as well as a better live snapshot of how the cards are playing! This report will be updated every 2 weeks or after significant changes occur.

Tier Explanation
This Tier List is heavily geared towards the current environment, and the report will be updated bi-weekly at a minimum. This is to adjust for the in-game balance changes and what is competitively viable.
- Tier 1: These are the cards that support a current top tier deck in the meta or are universally strong enough that not owning them is a disadvantage.
- Tier 2: These are strong cards that are core to playing the currently strong archetypes, or are strong enough that you can play them in several different deck types.
- Tier 3: These are strong supporting pieces of specific archetypes that can be replaced, part of archetypes that are currently not performing at a Tier 2 level, or are universal cards that are options but often replaceable.
- Tier 4: These cards are niche and can only be used within very specific archetypes or only support an archetype that is currently not performing well.
- Tier 5: These cards are very limited and easily eclipsed by other options.
- Kang: This tier is a special tier to represent just how much lower this card is than the cards above.
- * This card is provisionally ranked, and in-game performance may change the ranking as the changes are either not finalized or still too new.
- ** This card is ranked higher in anticipation of a changing meta due to new card releases or balance changes and will be evaluated again on release.
Valentina
The newly released card is already creating quite the buzz around the community, mostly thanks to being a simple plug-and-play option in Loki. There, the card can high roll a great 6-Cost card we’ll only pay three or four Energy to get in play, or simply give Loki another card to replace, while buffing The Collector in the process.
The other way to use Valentina is slotting her disruptive shells, which typically struggle to include enough cards worth a lot of points.
There, Valentina provides us with a late game option which works wonderfully with Shadow King, as the 2-Cost will restore our 6-Cost back to full power, in addition to punishing cards such as Angela, Kitty Pryde, or Kraven.
Annihilus & White Widow
The total grip White Widow has on the metagame has skewed the meta tier list this week considerably. It has earned the Tier 1 spot with most the top of the ladder being decks which run this card. Survive any balance changes to Annihilus but the Junk decks operate with or without her as well as with her.
Although acknowledging how much the card has risen over the past few weeks, caution is still advised. The deck may seem flexible currently but the effect is not, and although it is the centrepiece which makes the deck playable, the fortunes for Annihilus depend heavily on the Junk archetype.
This rise also relates heavily to the release of White Widow giving the Junk package a consistent turn 2 play which synergises with the strategy. With White Widow she is on the fast track for Tier 1 also and may get there on her own merit. She is emerging as a strong early game play even without the Junk package unlike Annihilus.
This featured deck looks to use Mockingbird and Carnage to capitalize on the Junk cards coming from opponents as well as from yourself. This gives you ways to add more power down than expected and compete across the board even without the Annihilus draw.
Lady Deathstrike
Lady Deathstrike has come obscurity to a real surprise card which wins games. It cannot be understated just how much better this card is now and if you own the card you should try it. She can now not only be a good play on turn 5 clearing out opposing negative power cards and hitting key cards like Dracula, Iron Man, Wong, Jeff, she can also support your gameplans by destroying stuff for them key Death reductions.
She is now a very strong card which you should expect to show up in more games as time goes on. Cards which disrupt your opponent whilst supporting your own gameplan are the cards which rise to the top over time in Marvel Snap and Lady Deathstrike is finally one of them.
I could not go past this innovation from kx4n to feature here this week. This demonstrates all the powers of Lady Deathstrike in one deck and packs a punch. Here she can:
- Clear your negative power cards
- Activate Death
- Clear up cards used to activate Mockingbird
- Clear opposing threats
- Clear opposing negative cards
The amount of uses she has right now is even higher due to the rise of Junk decks but her use cases don’t end with Junk which indicates a positive future could be ahead for this card.
Discard
Now to address a major negative. Discard cards have all dropped this week and with good reason. The metagame suddenly got very hostile to these cards. Whilst cards like Red Guardian are annoying into lots of decks, they are crippling for Discard. Dracula is the core discard card, allowing for you to compete over two lanes and it is always low power or below 3 power before the end of the game.
It is anti-synergy to play Cosmo in these decks so currently the outlook in this metagame would appear bleak. Unfortunately, this is an example of how context matters. Whilst last tier list we could have been debating if Discard should have cards hitting Tier 1, the field has flipped this to debating if Discard cards should be Tier 5.
This justified unplayable tag however did lead to this prototype to try if your someone who feels the Discard toys you picked up are now useless. While we cannot fully protect from Red Guardian, we can mitigate the damage from Lady Deathstrike whilst adding a card which helps into Destroy and Junk with Armor.
We can also use Helicarrier to find outs and play a much smaller discard package of Blade, Lady Sif and MODOK to target the cards we need whilst still buffing Apocalypse.
Conclusion
That’s it! All Series 4 and 5 cards in Marvel Snap ranked in the current environment. Marvel Snap is a unique game, and these cards can lead to different scenarios and decks. At times, you may just like a certain character more than another. As a final disclaimer: chasing the card you want with your heart instead of your head is not wrong.

I’m looking forward to more of the community acquiring these cards and seeing how players will utilize them in new and interesting ways!
Good luck out there!
