Silver Samurai, Daken and Wolverine Decks: Weekend Challenge Mission Guide

Our guide for the this week's set of Weekend Challenge Missions featuring Silver Samurai, Wolverine, and Daken! Complete the missions efficiently using our decks, or find out how they are performing and decide if you want the card!

During the weekend, there is now one more set of Missions for players to complete: The Weekend Missions! These involve additional rewards for winning games related to the week’s new card and the Season Pass card. These missions provide extra Collector’s Tokens and Gold! This week’s Weekend Challenges are:

Mission#Reward
Win with Wolverine starting in your deck10200 Credits
Win with Daken starting in your Deck8150 Gold
Win with Silver Samurai starting in your Deck4300 Collector’s Tokens

You need to win games with the card starting in your deck, and it does not count if the card was generated by cards such as Cable and Maria Hill. Each of these reward amounts will vary depending on the difficulty of the mission. There will be Weekly Missions available for each new card release. The goal of Weekly Missions is to allow players to earn back Collector’s Tokens from new cards and subsidize their cost.

The token missions are expected to differ from week to week, depending on the card. For example, three wins for 100 Collector’s Tokens, four wins for 300, and five wins for 500, depending on the week (1,000 Collector’s Tokens is on the highest end).

Most players will want to be efficient with these missions, so today we will give you three different decks that incorporate Daken or Silver Samurai.

We’ll also give you a short guide on how to get the most out of the deck and finish the missions quickly, but first let’s take a quick look at the new card’s performance this week.

Performance

Silver Samurai Meta Stats

Silver Samurai is our latest targeted Discard effect. Historically, targeted effects in Marvel Snap have ended up being very powerful. Cards like Lady Sif and Colleen Wing have had their time in the sun on multiple occasions. These effects allow you to be certain of outcomes, and if you can combine them with powerful enough pay-offs you can create winning combinations.

Silver Samurai adds a new element since it can also target your opponent’s hand, which represents potential disruption alongside advancing your own game plan. But is this combination worth your attention? Or is it just too much effort for not enough reward?

The card is releasing with a lot of synergy with other cards, and some packages have emerged that support the card well. Wolverine, for example, provides an additional four power card if discarded by Silver Samurai, and X-23 can provide another two power card along with an extra energy on the following turn. These along with Daken are simple synergies for the card. Its not a difficult deck building challenge to make these the only cards that the effect can hit on your side.

The card also activates Stature for an additional 1-Cost card with six power for a later turn – and it does this for cheaper than Black Bolt (and potentially no downside for yourself). This is all due to the targeted nature of the effect, and the same ability can be used to target cards in your hand like Swarm and Iron Man. This then pairs with Ghost Rider to revive any discarded card for four energy at some point in the game.

The effect can be used in greedy ways as well. Unfortunately, this is part of the reason why the statistics for this card are not favorable, and it’s one of the major downsides. If you over commit to this effect without a clear way of benefiting, you can often run out of things to do without being able to put enough power on the board.

The synergy doesn’t appear to successfully carry the whole deck, so the best strategies have used the effect to gain a benefit without becoming too reliant. This results in a card that does a lot and can perform above rate, but can also seem like it is not a key card. It can, in essence, counter itself, and obviously Cosmo also impacts the greedier options with Wong and Hela significantly.

Overall, Silver Samurai actually lives up to the expectations. It allows you to discard your cards in unique ways, and can it support and add flexibility to plenty of the best decks in the game. The concern for many will be if these are stronger strategies or not.

At the time of writing, I cannot say if they definitively are, but I can say Silver Samurai performs well in good decks and still has room to improve. It activates and is supported by some great, above-rate cards that support strong mid-range strategies. While it’s not the flashiest release in Marvel Snap history, the card is performing solidly, and decks are starting to find unique ways to use it.

So, how do we use Daken and Silver Samurai to rack up wins and complete the Weekend Challenge Missions?

Silver Samurai has plenty of synergy cards, and a really strong one is Wolverine. It is arguably the most consistent of all the synergies. Here, Silver Samurai is played to hit Wolverine and represent nine power while also removing cards from the opponent’s hand. This then activates Stature and supports the game plan of efficient stats. While it isn’t overly flashy, it can do significant work because it is one of the most consistent ways to play the card.

This one may surprise you since I aimed to build with Silver Samurai in a mostly Series 2 deck. Why? Well, not everyone has every card. Here we are leaning hard into the cross synergy between Wolverine, Daken, and the Destroy cards.

Silver Samurai acts as another activator that we can play after Storm to disrupt the opponent while advancing our game plan. We even include the classic Storm into Jessica Jones!

If you’re low on the collection track, this shell can give you the benefits of Silver Samurai while having a solid game plan against most competitive decks.

This deck aims to play a Turn 4 Professor X whenever it can. It accomplishes this either with X-23 ramp or discarding it with Lady Sif into Ghost Rider. When you can’t activate X-23 with Colleen Wing, you can use Venom. Silver Samurai helps you in the later turns as you aim to discard Wolverine or X-23 for extra power on Turn 6.

If you do get the Turn 4 lockdown, you can always skip Turn 5 and play The Infinaut. He’s also just a strong target for Lady Sif and Ghost Rider.

This deck aims to discard recklessly, but rarely does it have the chance to discard Hela. Then you can play Hela to replay all the cards on Turn 6, or you can just play multiple Swarms and Spider-Woman / Blue Marvel.

This direction has quietly been showing results, and it appears to have originated from Raging Nomad; however, we are going with more stats over some of the tech cards you will see in other versions.

I couldn’t leave without showing off something different. This deck aims to discard all the efficient cards, but it wants an activation on Swarm as it does this. Then it can fill the board with the efficient cards, play Nova, Killmonger, and finish with Kitty Pryde.

This synergizes with X-23 and Daken as well, and it gives you a board wide buff similar to playing Blue Marvel while staying true to the synergy of the deck.

Closing Thoughts

Wins with the new card may seem a tall order some weeks depending what quality of card is released. Hopefully this guide helps you decide first if you want the card prior to the missions coming out, and what you can potentially play to complete the missions quickly!
