Mirage and The Phoenix Force Decks: Weekend Challenge Mission Guide

Our guide for the this week's set of Weekend Challenge Missions featuring Mirage and The Phoenix Force! Complete the missions efficiently using our decks, or find out how they are performing and decide if you want the card!

During the weekend, there is now one more set of Missions for players to complete: The Weekend Missions! These involve additional rewards for winning games related to the week’s new card and the Season Pass card. These missions provide extra Collector’s Tokens and Gold! This week’s Weekend Challenges are:

Mission#Reward
Win Matches20200 Credits
Win with The Phoenix Force starting in your Deck15150 Gold
Win with Mirage starting in your Deck3100 Collector’s Tokens

You need to win games with the card starting in your deck, and it does not count if the card was generated by cards such as Cable and Maria Hill. Each of these reward amounts will vary depending on the difficulty of the mission. There will be Weekly Missions available for each new card release. The goal of Weekly Missions is to allow players to earn back Collector’s Tokens from new cards and subsidize their cost.

The token missions are expected to differ from week to week, depending on the card. For example, three wins for 100 Collector’s Tokens, four wins for 300, and five wins for 500, depending on the week (1,000 Collector’s Tokens is on the highest end).

Most players will want to be efficient with these missions, so today we will give you three different decks that incorporate Mirage and/or The Phoenix Force.

We’ll also give you a short guide on how to get the most out of the deck and finish the missions quickly, but first let’s take a quick look at the new card’s performance this week.

Performance

Mirage has some consistent applications. She can be a very strong 2-drop in decks with Devil Dinosaur, and as a generic 2-drop she generates value and provides some information on the opponent’s hand. She is slightly below rate when compared to Maria Hill for generating the value, but she adds two power to the copied card in your hand. So, is this effect good enough to make Mirage a must buy card?

The primary and most apparent way to use the effect is by generating value that keeps your hand size large. This obviously synergizes with Devil Dinosaur and The Collector. While it seems this application is a strict upgrade on previous versions of these decks, it tends to mean you are committed to the Devil Dinosaur game plan as fitting in the package with Mirage and other cards tends to be too much for 12 cards. She can also be used for generic value in the 2-Cost slot in decks like Thanos and Darkhawk, both as utility and information.

Here she is clearly an upgrade on some 2-drops like Maria Hill. But when compared with Spider-Ham, she does not provide as much value, and when compared with Jeff the Baby Land Shark, she does not provide nearly as much flexibility. It can also be argued that Luke Cage, Lizard, and even Silk are better able to support your strategy in a lot of decks. For most players, the information will not raise the card above other 2-drops and make it the card to play, but it can fill in lots of places.

What you can do with the information will be contextual, and there are plenty of situations where the information doesn’t help enough and you can’t play the card you received. Fortunately, thanks to the value generation and additional power, she rarely feels useless, and this makes her somewhat flexible.

Mirage appears to be a card that can find plenty of places to be played, but she will most likely be the 12th card. Cutting her for better synergies or replacing her with stronger 2-drops will generally be easy to do. If you enjoy Devil Dinosaur decks, she is an upgrade; outside of this, she is very playable. She gives you some unique information, but she doesn’t make a big enough impact to be considered a requirement.

So, how do we use Mirage and The Phoenix Force to rack up wins and complete the Weekend Challenge Missions?

This is the most consistent way to play Mirage. This deck looks to buff The Collector throughout the game before playing the generated value cards or Devil Dinosaur as power pushes. It also runs the Zabu and plenty of tech cards to counter the opponent’s lanes.

This deck may be the one deck significantly improved by Mirage, as the extra two power on the card received is more likely to be used (and it keeps you hand full for future plays).

This is a different take worth trying outside of just including Mirage in the 2-Cost slot in the most popular Darkhawk build. In this deck we go back to the Invisible Woman and Killmonger package as a way to counter the myriad of 1-drops in the current meta. We get extra value from Mirage since we can likely play the card we receive.

Also, we have Zabu to reduce the cost of our high value 4-drops and allow for final turns that can include Kitty Pryde, tech cards, and (potentially) the buffed Mirage card.

This list from resident expert den demonstrates how we can use Mirage for information to give you an edge. She fits easily into the earlier turns since you’re usually aiming towards playing 5-drops on Turns 4 and 5. This gives you the information to know what Turn 5 plays to go for.

Paired with Spider-Ham, the amount of knowledge you can gain is very high. If you’re confident in your ability to use information to win games, this deck is definitely one to try because you have a lot of control over the game and you can use that control to lock out opponents.

If you want to focus solely on The Phoenix Force, the best way to go remains the Shuri and Multiple Man direction. If you want to barrel through the Mirage quest at the same time, though, we return to what has been the most consistent way to finish these quests all month: Thanos and The Phoenix Force.

This deck is most able to make consistent use of The Phoenix Force, win games of Marvel Snap, and include other cards depending on how you want to play the deck. If you’re struggling to finish The Phoenix Force quests, go back to ol’ reliable here and throw Mirage in (if you have her).

Closing Thoughts

Wins with the new card may seem a tall order some weeks depending what quality of card is released. Hopefully this guide helps you decide first if you want the card prior to the missions coming out, and what you can potentially play to complete the missions quickly.
