Will we be correct in our assessments?

5. Namora – 108 points

Namora is the type of card that always performs poorly on this type of list. She’s a card without antecedent; nothing in Marvel Snap really wants to do what she does. There’s a possibility that Ravonna Renslayer, the Goblins, and Professor X are great with her, or that she could make a solo lane Cosmo, Armor, or Colossus strategy work.

With Wong and Odin, that’s +30 power, which is certainly worthwhile to mess with. However, the meta is filled with Junk, and the combo here is really hard to pull off. It requires perfect draws, so, even though this might be really great, it’s more likely to be fun but clunky.

  • Namora is the card that I am most excited about. It would possibly create a new type of deck. Turn 1-3 play two of the cards: Armor, Colossus, Storm, Cosmo, Jeff the Baby Land Shark in two separate lanes, Turn 4 Wong, Turn 5 Namora, Turn 6 Odin would be a fascinating idea for me to try. – Snap Orange
  • I can’t wait to try Armor left, Cosmo right, Wong mid, Namora mid, Odin mid. – Pidancet
  • Going to open up some Ms. Marvel-like strategies. – Interrobang
  • I don’t know where the home for this really is. BDI-style decks usually want the defense, and that means they put two cards at least. – Mottelz
  • This is the LEAST excited I’ve ever been for a SNAP season, but Namora could prove to be a big sleeper if she pops off with Wong. – Monroe Bieler
  • Namora will be pretty strong. – KK Sparkles
  • Namora may be too easy to counter for the amount of power it outputs without Wong or Odin. I still expect it to be a good card at around a 7/10 though. – rsBerry
  • People are sleeping on her. She’s gonna be crazy with things like Wong, or even Ravonna and Goblins. – Bradcifer

4. Sage – 147 points

Sage is another card that’s hard to rank. On first look, she seems like a Wolfsbane with more steps, but she has a far greater power ceiling if flood decks are popular. Using her once seems like a lot of power, but using her twice with a card like Grand Master, Absorbing Man, or Odin seems great, too.

Being a 3-Cost with zero power may be a boon, as well. Mister Negative decks, particularly those running either Jane Foster Mighty Thor or Silver Surfer, can do a lot with this card. Ravonna Renslayer acts as an enabler, too. Negative Surfer had a moment a few months ago, and it might be back with this card. Even if it isn’t, regular Surfer could always use an extra [3/8+] card, especially in the versions with Wong or Baron Zemo.

  • If you consider using her towards the end of the game, she is likely to average 8 power on the correct location for 3 energy. If you build a deck around this concept, it could potentially provide even more, with a limit of 14 Power. Considering the synergy with cards like Mister Negative, Silver Surfer, Sera, and the Bounce archetype, the potential of this card is very high, and she might even be nerfed, just as Hit Monkey once was. – Kirallas
  • Sage is so overrated I think she is really bad. – GetRekt
  • This should be a [3/8] or [3/10] a lot of times as we can make it a [3/6] with just our side. With Hope Summers, we should be able to get a Sage + Shang-Chi on Turn 6 fairly often, and we have other things to do even with six energy. Mister Negative, Ravonna Renslayer… this card is good, and it has good support already. – den
  • I am ranking her the lowest, but I am actually very excited for her in Mister Negative decks. I think she will be a huge power spike on the last turn and even more so if you play Grand Master right after her. – Gatos
  • While Sasquatch is the “stat stick of the month” and Blink is just obviously good, I think Sage has the potential to be the most powerful card released this season. While versatile, she thrives in Junk and Negative decks and is the herald of chaos and Exodia combos (Grand Master, Wong, Odin…). I’m anxiously anticipating some crazy Sage screenshots! – NickDaGreekGeek
  • Not bad, not great. Probably Spider-Man replacement in tempo decks. – Nerfherder
  • I think this is going to be a very above-rate 3-drop with one downside: she can’t really be dropped early. However, in small-ball decks, this runs really close to being a 3-cost lane-winning finisher. – Gnome
  • Can’t wait to try this out with Juggernaut. Juggernaut one lane and move everything else to another. – Sizer
  • Was unsure on this one until I realized it counts the opponent’s side, also. This is a better Wolfsbane and it could be the surprise hit of the season—like it could be in first place, but, given how unsure her homes are still, I can’t put it above the other three. – SafetyBlade

3. Nocturne – 178 points

As you’re reading this, Nocturne is out. The card has proven to be quite controversial in the rankings, with many having it at #1 and many having it at #4 or #5. I’ll admit to being in the latter camp; this has a good ability, good power, and good cost, but outside of Kitty Pryde + Angela + Elsa Bloodstone decks (Silky Smooth in particular), I expect this to have trouble replacing more consistent tech cards like Mobius M. Mobius or more powerful three drops like Gladiator, to say nothing of cards like Red Guardian that do both.

Still, this is a game-winner, that, once it hits the board, has a serious threat of activation. Like with Jeff or Vision, an opponent must always account for where this is and what location it can change. Nocturne increases the variance of Snaps in the game, as her changes can win outright but also mess up an opponent. It can create more unsure final turns that become 50-50s, which means more people are staying in to see the end of games. That’s healthy for the game, assuming the card is good enough to force itself into decks, and with some people loving it, it certainly will (at least for a while).

  • I have high expectations for this card. Besides being the first location control for C5, it’s a GOOD CARD in all senses. Yes, it will surely be a good inclusion in Silver Surfer or C5, however, it’s good enough to be a card you can play in any deck. Just like Nightcrawler, Jeff, or Vision, Nocturne is the next card in that amazing curve. – Bohe
  • Most generically good card. Sasquatch may be better in its deck but Nocturne is a must-have for every collection. – GunnyT
  • The latest in an unfaltering tradition of self-moving powerhouses, Nocturne will be a skill-testing card for both players. The only thing more devious than wiping the difficult location is wiping the easy one. – Benjamin Roller
  • I just think Nocturne will add a different kind of utility to Surfer decks. – FaThorNewman
  • #1 as a personal choice because she seems very versatile. – DoeyKat
  • Good stats, move, and location support in one card? It’s just a good card, sorta like how we default to Jeff as filler with two drops when deck building, I can see this filling a similar role at 3. – W
  • Move and RNG? Yes, please. – Combat Snap
  • Nocturne immediately slots into one of the best packages in the game with Angela/Kitty/Elsa. She’s a better Nightcrawler with Scarlet Witch sprinkled in. – GamingwithFlashX

2. Sasquatch – 242 points

Every month a giant, efficient stat stick comes out, and it ends up being one of the best cards of both the month and in the game. In December, we had Blob, January was Skaar, February Cull Obsidian came out, Mockingbird arrived in March, and in April we got Red Hulk. In their months, every single one of them was a meta card. Now we get Sasquatch. I wonder what will happen?

  • Very strong in Mysterio/Mockingbird shells and any deck that plays a lot of cards. – Tanjo
  • Sasquatch is mega-busted if it stays like that. – Butt
  • I love dropping surprise power and Sasquatch falls right in line with my Hit Monkey/Black Swan play style so I am super excited to see how consistent we can make his power drop! Let’s go!!! – Phil Woodward
  • If She-Hulk, Cull Obsidian, Mockingbird, and Red Hulk taught us anything, it’s that good stats will always prevail. Therefore, Sasquatch will be the best card of the season. – ItsGuestGaming
  • Insane Bounce card: Beast t4, Hit Monkey + Mysterio + 0-Cost cards t5, and Iron Man + Sasquatch t6 = insane insane combo. – Dott.Geo
  • Another boring Stat(squatch) stick? – Its_Just_Rie
  • Almost always [4/10] at least seems busted and the potential for further discount with a supporting build is pretty busted to me. – Rutmus
  • I think this will have a similar power level to Skaar, higher ceiling but a lower floor. I think it’s worse than the current iteration of Mockingbird. Also do we really wanna miracle on 5? Mysterio on 2 is nutty though. – NoBigDeal
  • Cheap stats have historically been good. Also, it’ll be fun to dump cards and get a cheap 10-power card! – TheKid Snap
  • Sasquatch does not make sense; this card is so absurd. – Shuri Enjoyer
  • Hit Monkey-enjoyer here—Sasquatch is going to be amazing. – Zal Snap
  • Sasquatch is just a natural fit in the token decks right now with Mockingbird and Death, it will 100% see play and likely be above average. – MyleeeC
  • Sasquatch seems incredibly broken in the already prevalent, low-to-the-ground decks. All the other cards honestly seem very weak. – Peaceful Sea
  • Unfortunately, the best card of every season is usually a boring stat stick that has to be OP to see real play. – Docty

1. Blink – 256 points

Whenever the Season Pass card has an obvious home that’s close to meta, it ends up #1 on these lists. Even with that, Blink seems pretty heavily pushed. The ability to get a Hela is obviously super strong, and Hela has been a meta deck for a few months now. Add in that Lockjaw has never really been replaced in Hela, and we have a deck.

There are so many other potential homes for Blink, though. A Patriot deck is thrilled to get an early 5- or 6-Cost card. Getting rid of Annihilus for a 6-drop is great. Leech? Turn that into something better. Shuri gives you a 14-Power play and replaces itself with a 5- or 6-drop. The possibilities are endless. Blink may be awkward at first, but the right homes will continually come up for this seemingly powerful card.

  • Super fun card, but I think people are severely overlooking how clunky she’ll be sometimes, and how important it will be to build around her. Do you run Wasp to ensure she can always upgrade something? White Tiger and Leech are great targets, but if you’re only running two 6-Costs, they’ll both be in your hand 55% of the time. (Side note: very interested to see how she’ll interact with the Goblins). – LaurenWhatevs
  • Not bad stats. Already thinking how I could use her ability to swap a 6-Cost card on T5 while also putting down 6 Power at the same time. That’s scary to think about. – Gregor2424
  • I would love to rank Blink higher but I have this feeling she is gonna be super clunky to play. I hope the master deck builders out there will teach me a lesson for my ranking. – HippMeister
  • This is gonna be a really fun card that will make some crazy plays work. – Lufku9
  • Can’t wait to play Blink, seems fun+strong! Hope it is not too much RNG! – NiTheal
  • Very keen to try Blink in a Galactus Ramp deck! – Comixfan
  • Blink is going to make some nice Ramp decks stronger. Blinking after playing Electro or Jubilee is strong. – BitTwiddle
  • Very good in almost any deck and super easy to build around. – Snap Decisions
  • Blink is most exciting, I think some big stuff decks like Ramp and Discard will be very strong. – Teebs
  • Blink is gonna be a Jubilee-style card to get your Biggest Cards out while getting rid of your smallest, but you’re gonna need Armor. – Ob3lisk
  • She seems the most unfair, which has often led to broken effects. While I do think she can get countered with Professor X, I see her having the most impact on the meta. – LoopingMoon
  • All this month’s cards look solid, but Blink can potentially generate some degenerate combos, likely best in Hela, unfortunately. – Revis
  • I think her power is going to be in Hela, and it may take some time for me to make her work, but she will be causing you pain. I’m very excited for her to provide Hela a way to be more consistent after Lockjaw got the “Old Yeller” treatment. – HuskyPuppies
