Snap Year’s 2024 Resolutions! Featuring Our Favorite Content Creators

Let's set some goals for Marvel Snap this upcoming year with PulseGlazer!

New Year’s Resolutions are a funny thing – every day, every minute is a new year, but we have this arbitrary day where we celebrate the calendar resetting and use it as a motivation to craft new goals for ourselves.  The tone of this probably lets you know how I feel about New Year’s Resolutions overall, so then, what the heck are we doing with this article?

Well, since 1/1 of the year is fairly universally recognized, it’s as good a time as any to talk about goals in Marvel Snap.  I’m going to take you through three categories of my goals in Snap and include some Snap Years Resolutions from some of our very favorite players.

Gameplay and Rank

I’ve never finished a season in the Top 5000 let alone the top 1000. I spent last season entirely in the Top 5k, but the last week is Conquest week, so I fell like a rock, as splitting my time left me not enough for either.

So, I considered the top 1k or 5k as a goal for the new Snap Season or year, but, well, then I’d have to have less time for something else.  Goals are a balancing act.  I could achieve that goal, I have little doubt given how close I’ve come playing little… but what would achieving that goal cost me?  Less time for content, less time for family, and less energy for my regular job on top of all my other priorities.

I need a different gameplay and rank goal.  What I’m going with is to increase my win rate. Instead of competing with others, I’m competing with myself. My win rate in Snap is 57.1% on Ladder, including both pre and post-Infinite.  In Conquest, it’s 56.8%.  That indicates, to me, that the number is around my current skill level.  Pushing that number will be what I’m going for.

Here are some of our friend’s goals as it comes to playing the game:

  • To finally get an infinity avatar. I always leave it to the last minute and run out of time. – wetbranches
  • Hit top 1k (and then never play in post-Infinite Ranked again. – LaurenWhatevs
  • Play the game with less emphasis on climbing and focus on enjoying different decks and the chaos of Snap as a whole. – Savage Yeti Gaming
  • For Snap, my serious resolution is to place high in a tournament. – Peaceful Sea
  • Marvel Snap-based, it’s to win an Infinity Conquest finally and get that border on my Thor avatar. – FaThorNewman
  • Stay in the top 500 all year. – Prashaun
  • Hit the top 1k on ladder. – Tuccrr
  • To take my time. Recently I’ve been rushing my turns. – Fazzer
  • For snap, I will say take post infinite more seriously to get up in rank. – SuperTechGod

Variants, Collection, and Spending

Okay, this year, I f-ed up.  I got monetized in the game and went wild buying stuff I didn’t need.  How much? I have every card, a variant for all but three cards (Rescue, Stature, White Tiger), 18 Spotlight Caches, and 70,000 Tokens.  That’s not needed. Monetizing this game was meant to help me out of credit card and student loan debt, not put me further into the hole. I need to do better – there’s little else for me to really need to buy.

Which is to say, set a goal that fits a budget. There are larger life goals than Marvel Snap. This game incentivizes gambling for sure, and as it does so, it triggers parts of our brain we don’t totally control. That happened to me. I’m sure it happened to others.  Outside of my giveaways (see the next section), I’ll be limiting myself to somewhere around Season Pass and $50 a month.  I just don’t need to do more than that, so I shouldn’t.

This isn’t in our control at all, but I assume more control over splits and better Albums, including parent Albums are coming. That’s going to increase spending for many, particularly the album rewards, but, hey, look at the goals and consider how much you really need them to play the game.  Again, spend if you want – especially the Season Pass, which is absolutely absurd value – but if you don’t like Artgerm or Baby variants, maybe let those pass.

Still, there will be more Hipps coming, and that’s both my and my son’s favorite art in the game. I’m going to buy all of those. Their price point is far less than the joy they bring me.  Good value.

Here are some of our friend’s goals as it pertains to spending and their collection:

  • To stay on top of the game economy as it changes – LaurenWhatevs
  • To be collection complete all of next year and not spend more than 2 grand. – LilRobitussin
  • It’s to spend less money on bundles I don’t need. – Peaceful Sea
  • Actually save gold and not use it on upgrading cards. – Pilk
  • Complete collection and 1 fully inked deck. – Octy
  • In the new year I’m going to foil out all my underplayed cards and only do upgrades in full cycles. My goal for 2024 snap is to get a collection of all foil or gold background + gold border cards Also going to keep tracking down my missing variants – but that’s a bit more outside of my control to be honest. – Teebs

Content and Community Related

Well, this is kind of weird and wild. I had a goal for my YouTube – it was to hit 1k subs in the first year.  I figured that was reasonable.  I was hoping people would like the little podcast I started, too. Well, it’s Dec 28 as of writing this on Marvel Snap’s biggest website where we are the Official Podcast, and my page has 7,500 subs.  What the hell do I do for content goals from here?

Okay, I have a few.  I’d like 10k subs. I think I can get more, but the growth has been incredible, so 10k seems great. I also started a Patreon with a ton of additional content. I want to make it a must to subscribe to the point where people feel like it’s such absurdly great value they’d be crazy not to.  Those are minor goals though. The next bit is the big stuff.

I want to help grow the community of content creators.  The more of us that are big, the more eyes there are on the game.  Twitch Drops draw huge audiences, so the audience is there for us all without cannibalizing each other.  We should all experience unprecedented growth in the next year.  Amazing creators like Tuccrr, Peaceful Sea, Teebs, and more should be on par with the Bynxes or Ninas of the world.  I have a platform that can hopefully help us all grow.  That’d be great.

My other goal is simple. It’s my big one. With the American election coming, things are going to get contentious. Many big creators stay out of these subjects in order to retain as wide an appeal as possible. My goal is for that to not be me – to use my voice to help where I can, to do what matters.

Closing

Which is the gist of all these goals, my advice to you – put your goals into two categories:

  • Improve internally. Compete with yourself. Be a better person. Care more, be more disciplined with yourself, be your best self.
  • Improve the world around you by helping and being kind. Radiate that and make the world as good as it can be.

Our creator friends have some goals, here, too!

  • To find interesting new ways to look at the game. – LaurenWhatevs
  • To build a house and finally allow myself to chill. – den
  • Make the Marvel Snap Creator’s Program. – Obihaved
  • Snap adjacent and YouTube related, hitting 1k subs. – FaThorNewman
  • Be more consistent in growing the podcast, Twitch, and YouTube. – SuperTechGod
  • Content Creation: Start streaming and find a way to get people interested in me and my personality rather than just the information I bring for Snap. Learn new things, improve videos/thumbnails, and take another step towards making this a full-time job. – SavageYeti
  • Be a better player and become one of the top streamers next year! – DougPie
  • To be back.- Fazzer
  • Help out newer players more, especially on stream. I forget many aren’t near collection complete and often just go meta with decks that they won’t have access to. Need to mix it up a bit. – Devilish
  • I hope to use my creator status to incite some meaningful change for the game for players  – Interrobang
