Silver Surfer Anti-Meta Gives Me The Best Games I’ve Had In Weeks!

HowlingMines has already reached Rank 95 with only off-meta decks - thanks in part to this sweet Silver Surfer list, teched out with a variety of anti-meta tools from Goose to Aero!

Howdy folks, friendly neighbourhood HowlingMines back again with more great gameplay from an off-meta deck!

Inspired by a list from JHugs that graced my Twitter feed, I picked up this teched-out Anti-Meta Silver Surfer list during our “off-meta” climbing stream last night it resulted in some of the best games of the last few weeks!

Looking to leverage Silver Surfer to provide stat boosts to current great anti-meta cards such as Cosmo, Polaris and Killmonger, this list also includes spicy copies of Goose and Aero to give yourself extra tools against Shuri Zero and Galactus!

  2. Aero has no right to be in this deck.

    That is not to say it’s wrong to put her in the deck, but the fact that even a Silver Surfer deck that has synergy with 3-costs through Silver Surfer and 4-costs through Zabu would still rather play an Aero instead of a card in the 3 or 4 energy slot shows that Aero is too good atm.

    One of the most popular decks at the moment is Thanos, which seeks to fill their board almost entirely. Aero becomes quite useless in many instances in that matchup, yet still Aero’s EVERYWHERE.

    I don’t mean to say “nerf her into oblivion”, but I’d love to see other cards that fit a same-ish role get a buff to make them a bit more appealing compared to Aero. As for Aero herself, would it really hurt if she had 1 less power? Shouldn’t she at least drag cards in the played order, giving some more counterplay?

  3. If it wouldn’t be enough that this deck is no match to current meta decks.
    Goose is terrible card. The dream is to put it into armor / cosmo line and force them to put their cards somewhere alse and shang them. Problem is that you can’t do it on turn 2 and if you do it later you make your surfer much worse because you have less three drops.
    The only card that works with Wong and Absorbing man is Surfer. You also want to draw Sera or Zabu to play them both on turn 5. Without one of them this synergy is ruined.
    It’s not home for Areo as well. Overall your decbuilding is terrible and I wasted time played few games with this deck without thinking about it.
