Marvel Snap Ranked Meta Tier List: December 2, 2024 — Marvel Rivals Preseason

The Marvel Snap meta is still very diverse despite Gorr's meteoric rise to the top. Find out which lists can carry you to 500 million Bubs here!

Welcome to our Marvel Snap Meta Meta Tier List! Each week, we review the best decks in the ever-changing Marvel Snap ladder meta.

This report is dedicated to the Ranked mode and lists the current best decks heading into and once in the Infinite Rank. We also provide a Conquest report, available every weekend, that highlights the best archetypes for that mode. Looking to figure out the impact of the newly released card or the latest balance changes? This is the place to be!

If you are looking for more information about a deck in particular, check out our Archetypes pages, with detailed information about each of the household names in Marvel Snap.

Marvel Snap Meta Overview

This week, Tier 1 is basically Mister Negative and its two worst counters, a direct result of Gorr being an amazing card. As expected, the number of On Reveal cards in the game is just too high for such an ability to not take over the meta in some way.

In addition to shaping the top of the meta, Gorr also made its way into a variety of archetypes. The card is featured in Hammer Pixie, “Good On Reveal Cards” (help me find a name for this one), and Thanos Wiccan, and it could easily see play in Arishem if you ask me.

However, I wouldn’t be so quick to call Gorr busted (but I could see its starting power being lowered a bit). Indeed, the good diversity we had before the release of Gorr still exists, it simply got matched by a new card and the archetypes that are either able to exploit its power or counter it. If you think about it, Malekith also pushed a variety of archetypes last week, and it just now got its spotlight stolen by Gorr.

This situation has lead to a whopping 14 decks featured in this report, with Mister Negative appearing as high as it’s ever been. Disruptive archetypes were also able to thrive after struggling against Cosmo and Alioth for quite some time.

Even more amazing than the amount of decks in this report is the performance of them all. Tier 3 typically features decks around a 0.2 or 0.15 Cube Average, but the worst deck on this list posted a 0.3 Cube Average—a Tier 2 score if there weren’t so many above 0.4 this week.

Happy Tier List, everyone!

Disclaimer and Tier Explanations

In order to be featured here, a deck needs to represent at least 1% of the current environment and have a positive cube average in the Ranked mode. Win Rate is also taken into consideration, and it can greatly impact the ranking of a deck, particularly when several archetypes (or different builds of the same deck) have a similar Cube Average but big Win Rate discrepancies. The Marvel Snap mechanics do, however, push players to maximize cubes gained rather than win every single game.

In order to create this chart, den is using data from our Marvel Snap Tracker, as well as other available data online and his own expertise and opinion of respected players. If a deck showed great performances with a very limited presence in the meta, you can find it in the Silent Performers section. That section highlights decks with an excellent Cube Average but too little of a sample size to be representative of their real strength.

Decks not good enough to be considered contenders but with a good representation will be ranked in Tier 3 in our chart. They won’t have their own dedicated write up here, but they may be transferred to the main Tier List section. See those builds as decks that are good to know about, as you should face them when playing Marvel Snap. However, unless the meta changes or a new variation of the build emerges, these decks are a notch below the dominant ones in Tiers 1 and 2.

Silent Performer: Decks with a very little presence in the meta that still showcase a Cube Average and Win Rate worthy of a Tier 2 deck (or better). Oftentimes, these can be archetypes with some nice game play that have been left unchecked in the current environment, or decks on the rise that found a few good match ups to abuse.

Tier 1: Tier 1 represents decks with all the upsides we would be looking for to rack up Cubes. They have good match ups in the current meta, offer different play patterns during a match, and often have the ability for explosive or surprising turns. These should be decks worth investing into in order to climb for the coming week.
Cube Average > 0.5

Tier 2: Tier 2 are very good decks but with a weakness holding them back – either not being as reliable in its draws as Tier 1 decks, countered by another popular deck, or still being a work in progress as you read this. A good pilot could probably take these and have the same results as with a Tier 1 deck, but their play patterns are more difficult to enact compared to the tier above.
Cube Average > 0.4

Tier 3: This tier is made of decks that have a pervasive issue compared to Tier 1 or Tier 2 decks. Usually, Tier 3 will be a mix of decks on the rise that don’t have much data, old archetypes on the decline, decks that require substantial experience and/or knowledge to pilot properly, powerful decks that aren’t well positioned, or niche decks.
Cube Average > 0.3

Budget: Decks that consist only of cards in Pool 1 and 2 that are still capable of competing with an experienced pilot in a similar Collection Level, Rank, and MMR range. See our matchmaking guide for more details.

Stature Darkhawk typically does its best work in Conquest. However, the ability to discard Gorr with Moon Knight (or at least greatly reduce the chances of finding it by shuffling Rocks into your opponent’s deck) has made it incredible in ranked this week.

The iconic disruptive deck welcomed a Mister Negative-heavy meta with open arms. It posted a 0.6 Cube Average and 61% Win Rate, both career highs in the Ranked mode.

Potential Additions

Swarm can replace Proxima Midnight, while Mobius M. Mobius, Copycat, or another disruptive 3-Cost card can replace Juggernaut.

It’s crazy how one card can change the fate of an archetype, although it sure helps when that card is reminiscent of a pre-nerf Blob in terms of power.

With Gorr in the deck, Mister Negative gained the ability to fight for points without even playing its titular card, and it can absolutely crush anyone without a way to stop Gorr into Mystique or Taskmaster after the 4-Cost was played.

Since the arrival of Gorr, Mister Negative has been one of the most popular decks in the game. And, although the archetype is typically quite simple to counter, it seems to be much more resilient this time. At least, the lists with a little twist are. This one has Super-Skrull, and it managed to post a 0.6 Cube Average and 55% Win Rate.

Potential Additions

Super-Skrull seems very important at the moment, but you could use Rogue if you like that one more. Either way, this is the flexible slot in the build.

I don’t think Mill has ever been this good, and it will probably go back to its usual standard with the new season once there is less of Mister Negative around. Until then, the ability to steal negative cards with Cable or Baron Zemo will be my (not so) guilty pleasure of choice.

This week, Mill posted a 0.5 Cube Average alongside a 56% Win Rate, a score that was likely boosted by the fact that you can safely Snap against the most popular deck in the game on sight.

Potential Additions

Killmonger and Death form a situational but good duo for points. Beast and Wiccan can bring some explosive power, or disruptive cards such as Rogue and Mobius M. Mobius can bury Mister Negative even deeper.

Shadow King is the flexible card outside of this two card package.

With the spotlight mostly taken by explosive decks using Gorr, points decks have struggled a bit more to get some wins. Still, with the help of a fair bit of disruptive cards (like Red Guardian, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Alioth), Wiccan remains a safe Snap with priority.

At the moment, the results of this deck vary pretty widely, and one card seems to make a lot of difference. From the various lists available in the data, the standard seems to be a disruption heavy package to make sure you can close the door on any opposing comeback once you Snap.

Potential Additions

Juggernaut, Cosmo, and other disruptive cards make sense in the deck, but Red Guardian, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Gladiator all have the upside of potentially denying Gorr or other low power Ongoing cards.

The Toxic Build also did pretty well this week:

More of Mister Negative seems to be a good thing for the 10 Power archetype, which also doesn’t care much about Gladiator—quite the opposite, actually. Even though you might get overpowered by a big Gorr, this deck doesn’t run many On Reveal cards, and Alioth has become much more important to the deck’s success.

At a 59.5% Win Rate, 10 Power managed to increase its Cube Average to 0.4 this week, its best since the OTA that nerfed both Skaar and Surtur.

Potential Additions

Nico Minoru could be Hydra Bob.

I can’t help but think this deck would be insane if Sandman was still an Ongoing card. Indeed, with a 0.4 Cube Average and 56.5% Win Rate, War Machine Ramp is already doing pretty well. Imagine how good it would be with a bit of extra help.

I guess Alioth and few Ongoing cards is good enough for now.

Potential Additions

Shadow King could be Grand Master for more proactive power but less reactive ability.

Apart from Kraven making it into the deck to bolster the points potential even more, Pure Move is still the same since the nerf to Agent Venom and the buff to Heimdall. The deck is doing pretty well with a 0.4 Cube Average and 56.5% Win Rate, but it requires a trained pilot to really be competitive.

Potential Additions

Cosmo did better than Mobius M. Mobius, but the two are interchangeable depending on your targets.

With a 0.35 Cube Average and 58% Win Rate, Arishem had a solid week compared to every other performance this season. Mister Negative could have been bad news for a Loki deck, but Arishem is too flexible to fall for that trick.

Discard Dracula posted a great Win Rate (58.5%), but a rather weak Cube Average (0.35). This is likely due to Gorr being able to routinely beat it on points. Discard is probably still a great deck, but now it suffers from not having the highest points potential around.

This deck tells me that it was a great idea to nerf Agent Venom with Gorr on the horizon. The performance isn’t stellar compared to the other archetypes on this list; a 0.3 Cube Average and 53.5% Win Rate isn’t anything special. But this would still be a low Tier 2 deck in most other reports, which is not bad for an emerging deck that is likely going to evolve in the near future.

Malekith still exists in Discard, and this build is tailor-made for the card. However, Gorr is now the flavor of the week, which means Malekith needs to adapt to this new environment. So far, its featured deck isn’t doing bad with a 0.3 Cube Average and 55% Win Rate, but this week was super competitive.

The best archetype in our last Conquest report is telling a very different story in Ranked, even with some help from Gorr. At a 0.25 Cube Average and 54% Win Rate, the deck might need a little more than some good Snaps when Wiccan is active.

Closing Words

This meta is brutal if I’m honest. The best decks can be targeted with one or two cards, and you still have to respect the points potential of Mister Negative and Discard. Indeed, when these decks Snap you early, even if you have the answer in your deck, are you willing to bet you will draw it in time?

Disciplined Snaps and Retreat alongside a good knowledge of your deck’s capabilities and match ups are the key to climbing until the end of the season.
