Tarantula is the second Series 5 card joining Marvel Snap for the July 2026 Season, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. It is a 2-Cost, 2-Power card that reads: End of Turn: If you have the highest Power among cards in play, give this and 2 cards in your hand +1 Power.

Today, let’s explore the new card strengths and, of course, the best decks to try it out in.
Synergies
If our hand was 2 cards only, Tarantula could be considered a better Viv Vision. Indeed, it is arguably easier to have the higher power among cards in play rather than win a location, especially since Wilson Fisk joined Marvel Snap.
Alongside the 5 3-cost card, Tarantula is certain to have a friend, as strategies around Wilson Fisk check both boxes of looking to have the highest power card while typically playing with a small hand.

Tarantula should be even easier to trigger due to the current metagame being focused on synergistic strategies. Sure, Move decks will eventually beat your highest power card with a beefed up Batroc the Leaper or Kraven. Yet, we should be able to get two to three triggers out of the new 2-cost before that happens.
In that context, we could just threat Tarantula as another Viv Vision. There would be no ties to the Move synergy, a shame in the current season, but buffing a card in our hand we then duplicate with Mother Askani is possible.
There is another part of Tarantula we have to discuss: End of Turn.
The card doesn’t belong in the End of Turn synergy, as replaying the ability 4 times on the last turn of play wouldn’t do anything but maybe buff Tarantula by 4 power. However, Aurora might be interested in a new card able to buff cards in our hand.
Indeed, with the likes of Isca the Unbeaten or The Thing First Steps in the deck, buffing cards in our hand is often more valuable than those on the board. After all, we typically wait to activate Awesome Andy until the later turns, when those cards able to make the most out of a buff finally hit the board.
The Verdict: Should You Get Tarantula?
There isn’t a lot to do with Tarantula, but you only need one good deck to make it into the Marvel Snap metagame. Thus, with ties with High Power strategies or Aurora, I feel like Tarantula has enough friends to see play in the future.
It might not be right now, as Move deck can produce a ton of power and are unlikely to be nerfed until their featured season ends. Yet, with help from Shadow King or Mercury, both Wilson Fisk or Aurora are good enough cards to make Tarantula looks decent at the very least.
