Mill was kind of a sneaky performer in this meta. Power wise, it is worse than most of the decks on the Tier List, but Marvel Snap doesn’t really reward power at the moment. Instead, it rewards decks that are able to Snap and keep opponents in the game; lots of power tends to push opponents away. Mill, on the other hand, can Snap because it stole/destroyed (or is about to steal/destroy) a key card for the opponent, which is a much harder thing to identify from the other side of the field.

This explains why Mill managed to post a 0.3 Cube Average despite being on the lower end of the Win Rate spectrum at just 54%.

Disruptive decks are much stronger in Conquest, hence why Mill found a spot here even though it couldn’t in the Ranked report. Sure, a 55% Win Rate doesn’t make it a menace (especially because Thanos and Arishem basically don’t care about most of what you’re trying to do). If the meta takes a turn, this could become a top contender. Until then, it is just a decent synergy.

How to Play

A new way to disrupt the opposing gameplay since Baron Zemo joined the game, the Mill archetype tries to steal or destroy opposing cards while in their deck or hand. This way, the deck possesses a ton of information, the perfect setup to control the snap mechanic.

At the core of this deck is the ability to quickly recognize your opponent’s deck, and figure out the best way to leverage your various disruptive abilities. For example, a points driven deck will have great cards to summon with Baron Zemo, so you might want to get them down to one card left quickly to get the best possible pull.

On the other hand, a combo oriented deck, based around a particular ability, won’t give anything worth using for yourself, but can completely fall apart if you managed to remove their key card from the equation. As such, you have to consider if burning cards from their deck improves your chances of preventing their synergy, or if you actually are helping them find the card they need to function.

Once you managed to cause enough damage to your opponent’s ability to function, Zemo Mill has the ability to develop a bit of points, often enough to contest a lane. Considering your opponent should be playing on crutches, you will rarely need more to win the match, if they even stayed in it in the first place.

Archetype Evolution Over Time

December 29th Update

  • A disciplined pilot should find success with Mill, but the deck requires quite a bit of knowledge about the other top archetypes to Snap at the proper time.

December 16th Update

  • Mill lacks a bit of power, but the current Good Cards and Mister Negative heavy meta is a good one for a synergy based around stealing the opponent’s cards. Discard could be a problem, but Arishem being gone is a much bigger upside for this deck.

December 2nd Update

  • Mill is a counter to Mister Negative because you can steal cards from their deck after they’ve been flipped. That was enough to make Mill an insane archetype this week, but it might only last until next week when the new season starts.

October 27th Update

  • Misery has brought this archetype back, but it isn’t very popular at the moment. Mill does have the upsides of matching well against Agent Venom and a great early Snap, so it could progress further in the near future.
