Many players don’t enjoy frequent updates, as it messes with the deck they worked towards building or learning. I love to have new puzzles to solve, so the concept of OTAs is something I embrace and support completely.
These changes have stopped feeling like new puzzles for quite some time. Most of the time, the way to shake up the metagame is to nerf the best archetypes rather than improve the ones struggling. As a result, the main challenge is to figure which of the other performing archetypes will rise next.
This one is follows that logic, with nerfs targeting some of the current top performers, hoping to tone down the new kind of High Power decks following the previous OTA, such as High Power Summons.
However, the buffs have the potential to make an impact in this OTA. Indeed, Jubilee Silver Surfer should turn her extra power into a bonus 3 or 4 total, while [3/5] Nocturne used to be a dominant card. Plus, Web Sling now synergize with all those move cards able to multiply the power boosts they receive.
Overall, I expect this OTA to change the current metagame. Unfortunately, there isn’t much of a puzzle to solve. We already know where to play Jubilee Silver Surfer, while Move decks are next season’s theme, alongside one of the synergies we can always count on in Marvel Snap.
The only question in this update is whether Nocturne makes a comeback as a strong standalone card.

Nerfs
Now a [3/7]
Debrii was mostly played for her high power, typically allowing to play Wilson Fisk for 3 energies. The rocks also had good utility, either with Ozymandias or En Sabah Nur.
That second use of the card will remain for sure, but we’ll have to see how many often Debrii isn’t the highest power in play after this change.

Now a [4/4]
The card was not played for its power, but disruptive tools need to help us win location nonetheless. We probably won’t notice the change when Negasonic Teenage Warhead wins the location on the back of the perfect hit. However, we might regret it when it doesn’t, and the power of the card is the important part.

Now a [6/5]
If Aurora decks stop being competitive because the card lost one power, I’ll revise my judgement about how boring balance updates with only small power changes are. Until then, I’m convinced the buffs will play a larger role in how good Disruptive Aurora is going to be in the near future.
Buffs

Now a [4/3]
That’s a power change that will definitely impact the card’s fortune. Now, the card should represent a [4/9] when played on turn four, and more when buffed or deployed early on. This places Jubilee Silver Surfer above Stick for sure.

Now grants +1 power to the card we move.
Human Torch immediately comes to mind with cards able to both move and grant extra power. Yet, a good Move card that does not cost us a spot on the board is valuable already, as it means we have more space to work with.
If we have ways to move the chosen card multiple times the following turn, Web Sling will be in that deck for sure.

Now a [3/5]
A while ago, Nocturne was a [3/5] and saw play in a lot of decks of that Marvel Snap metagame. Many cards released and others were buffed since then, so I’m not sure a [3/5] Nocturne is a dominant card in 2026.
We’ll know soon enough, as there are plenty of decks to test a flexible ability.
Now a [2/4]
July’s season will bring Move back to a centre stage role, so the worse cards from that synergy get a little help. Most of the buffs are geared towards preparing the new season, so don’t expect most to have an impact right after the OTA.
New Decks
For Jubilee Silver Surfer, I guess we can just go back to the decks I included in the card’s dedicated article for now, and see which ones feel improved:
That’s it for this OTA review. You can find everyone from the Marvel Snap Zone team in our community discord, alongside plenty of people to share your excitement about those changes.
Good Game Everyone!
