Marvel Snap Conquest Meta Tier List: September 9, 2024 – The Amazing Spider-Season Week 1

In Conquest, the best decks are either full of counters or their counters are nowhere to be seen. To see exactly which decks are at the top, check out this week's Tier List!

Welcome to our Marvel Snap Conquest Meta Tier List! Each week, we review the best decks in the ever-changing Marvel Snap Conquest meta.

This report is dedicated to the Conquest mode and lists the current best decks to run the gauntlet and grab your next Infinity avatar. We also provide a Ranked report, available around the middle of the week based on the latest updates, that highlights the best archetypes for that mode. Looking to figure out the impact of the newly released card or the latest balance changes in Conquest? This is the place to be!

If you are looking for more information about a deck in particular, check out our Archetypes pages, with detailed information about each of the household names in Marvel Snap.

Marvel Snap Conquest Overview

For most of the community, the first week of the season is dedicated to the Ranked mode since everyone is looking to climb back to Infinite. However, the fact that there aren’t any bots in Conquest makes it a much better mode to look at when searching for a solid archetype. Ideally, you want to cross reference the data from both Ranked and Conquest to check if an archetype with great numbers on the Ladder is also making strides in the other mode.

Most of the time, they do. Indeed, even with bots helping, you can’t fake a great performance (especially since everyone is playing with bots). However, an archetype with a solid showing in Ranked and a disappointing one in Conquest will still teach you a few things:

  • You’ll know the deck is more dependent on Snaps rather than Win Rate. In Ranked, you can get out of a bad draw or location for just a cube and get more out of your great draws. In Conquest, however, once your opponent knows your intended game plan, your Snap will be met with a Retreat more often. A less flexible deck will produce better results in Ranked.
  • The Ranked meta is typically more open than the Conquest one when it comes to potential opponents. If an archetype has a terrible match up—especially if it’s a popular one—Conquest is typically a harder mode to perform in.
  • Contested games that come down to a 50/50 on Turn 6 will balance themselves over time in Ranked. In Conquest, that loss can give your opponent a slight edge and cost you the entire match, which will have a much bigger impact on your overall performance.

So, which decks managed to look good in both modes and positioned themselves as staples of this meta?

Happy Tier List, everyone!

Disclaimer and Tier Explanations

In order to be featured here, a deck needs to hold a win rate above the 50% threshold over more than a hundred Conquest games.

In order to create this chart, den is using data from our Marvel Snap Tracker, as well as other available data online and his own expertise and opinion of respected players. If a deck showed great performances with a very limited presence in the meta, you can find it in the Silent Performers section. That section highlights decks with an excellent Win Rate, but too little of a sample size to be representative of their real strength.

Decks not good enough to be considered contenders but with a good representation will be ranked in Tier 3 in our chart. See those builds as decks that are good to know about, as you should face them when playing Marvel Snap. However, unless the meta changes or a new variation of the build emerges, these decks are a notch below the dominant ones in Tiers 1 and 2.

Silent Performer: Decks with a very little presence in the meta that still showcase a Cube Average and Win Rate worthy of a Tier 2 deck (or better). Oftentimes, these can be archetypes with some nice game play that have been left unchecked in the current environment, or decks on the rise that found a few good match ups to abuse.

Tier 1: Tier 1 represents decks with all the upsides we would be looking for to run the gauntlet. They have good match ups in the current meta, offer different play patterns during a match, and often have the ability for explosive or surprising turns. These should be decks worth investing into in order to climb for the coming week.
Win Rate > 58%

Tier 2: Tier 2 are very good decks but with a weakness holding them back – either not being as reliable in its draws as Tier 1 decks, countered by another popular deck, or still being a work in progress as you read this. A good pilot could probably take these and have the same results as with a Tier 1 deck, but their play patterns are more difficult to enact compared to the tier above.
Win Rate > 55%

Tier 3: This tier is made of decks that have a pervasive issue compared to Tier 1 or Tier 2 decks. Usually, Tier 3 will be a mix of decks on the rise that don’t have much data, old archetypes on the decline, decks that require substantial experience and/or knowledge to pilot properly, powerful decks that aren’t well positioned, or niche decks.
Win Rate > 52%

Budget: Decks that consist only of cards in Pool 1 and 2 that are still capable of competing with an experienced pilot in a similar Collection Level, Rank, and MMR range. See our matchmaking guide for more details.

Silent Performer

Both Silent Performers this week were already featured with the exact same 12 cards in the Ranked report. The 10 Power deck was already in this spot, sporting one of the highest Win Rates in the game but without enough games to back that up.

The low amount of games with Junk is more of a surprise. But, considering Stature Darkhawk had more than a thousand games played, it is possible that most players stayed on that disruption deck expecting Arishem to still be quite popular.

Stature Darkhawk is the only archetype in the game past the 60% Win Rate threshold with at least 200 games since the season start.

In Ranked, the deck was posting good numbers but it ended up at the bottom of the “good archetypes” pack. In Conquest, however, it is leading that pack. I’ve said in plenty of reports that disruption tends to be more effective in Conquest since you’ll have more effective Snaps once you know your opponent’s deck. Once again, this proves to be true as both disruptive archetypes on this list posted top tier Win Rates.

Potential Additions

Swarm, Kate Bishop, and Jeff the Baby Land Shark are fine 2-Costs to play. They either give you more of a discard synergy, or it’s fine to lose them if they’re not played on Turn 2.

On the climb to Infinite, KaZoo is a great archetype because it is very proactive, which means you can repeat the same patterns over and over and focus on your Snaps and Retreats more than with most other archetypes. In Conquest, however, this redundancy can be more detrimental, as the opponent will be able to adapt to a game plan that you can’t really modify. With all that being said, KaZoo managed to average a 60% Win Rate over 250 games, and 59% over 800 more.

It might not be super flexible, but it is definitely working really well.

Potential Additions

Nico Minoru and Alioth see occasional play to bring more flexibility or disruption.

Mister Negative wasn’t in the Ranked report due to a mild performance, but Patriot ranked pretty highly as the Ongoing synergy’s representative. In this Conquest report, however, the opposite happened. Patriot barely appeared in the data while Mister Negative had a 59% Win Rate over 700 games.

I said in the intro that the less flexible decks can have a harder time in Conquest, but when their specific counter isn’t around (which is the case right now apart from Copycat), those decks can be very scary. Indeed, you’ll be wary of an early Snap every time, and you will have to stay to know if it’s a bluff or not.

Potential Additions

The On Reveal focused list also worked pretty well in Conquest:

A 58% Win Rate is a score that many archetypes would love to have, but this is actually the worst Arishem Loki has looked in Conquest for the past two months. An entire month of balance updates focused on nerfing you will have that impact. Plus, Stature Darkhawk is a deck that’s built to bully you, and it’s been gaining popularity as time passes.

When you think about it this way, you actually start to see that Arishem Loki still being in Tier 1 is a testimony to the deck’s resiliency.

Potential Additions

Rogue, Enchantress, Vision, Magneto… Look for strong standalone cards that are able to contribute in all matches or shut down certain opponents.

Tier 2

Good Cards Wiccan

In the Ranked report, the deck built around Thena switched to a move-heavy build in order to be stronger against the surge of Junk decks. In Conquest, Junk was much more scarce, so Good Cards kept working with more generic, high impact cards like Wiccan.

Arguably, this is a bit of a weaker showing for the archetype. A 57% Win Rate is worse than the deck’s Tier 1 performance in Ranked. Still, this shows that it is impossible to count the Good Cards archetype out completely because there are tons of different ways to build it.

Potential Additions

Speed could be changed to plenty of other strong 3-Cost cards, while Jeff the Baby Land Shark and other strong standalone card could replace one you might be missing in this list.

Good Cards Sandman

While a 57% Win Rate is more than enough to be considered a strong deck, it isn’t that good for an archetype that is typically ranked at the top of the list in that category (at least in Ranked mode). Nebula is kind of a tell since the 1-Cost isn’t played in many decks, but most of the other cards you play before Sandman could signify a lot of different archetypes. This surprise effect makes Sandman even stronger, and it might keep an opponent from Retreating when they figure out your next move.

In Conquest, you don’t need to figure out the next move; once you get tricked once, you won’t make that mistake again. When the opponent starts playing proactively and stops holding cards for combos later on, Sandman immediately loses a lot of appeal.

Potential Additions

Maria Hill can provide a Turn 1 and 2 play on its own, which opens the option to remove White Widow to play Makkari instead.

Iron Lad and Doctor Doom can replace Captain Marvel and Ultron for a more high roll based build, which might be more suited for Contest since it would open opportunistic Snaps.

There hasn’t been much of Silver Sable or Symbiote Spider-Man in Conquest since the season started, which is a bit surprising for certain archetypes like Junk. However, Silver Surfer really didn’t care about the new cards at all.

And it might actually be paying for that a bit. A 56.5% Win Rate is one of the archetype’s worst performances this summer.

Potential Additions

Hope Summers can replace Sera for a better match up against Sandman or Mobius M. Mobius.

Destroy is one of the archetypes that is undergoing a lot of changes right now after Attuma became a solid card. With that change, Nimrod also gained some appeal, as did all the cards allowing you to multiply the card in the process.

With a 56.5% Win Rate, this Nimrod-led Destroy deck edged out the Deadpool Destroy deck in Conquest and earned the right to be the best Destroy build of the week.

Potential Additions

At a 55% Win Rate, this Deadpool-based Destroy deck is not bad by any means:

This uncommon Skaar-based Destroy Tempo deck had a 54.5% Win Rate as well. It’s reminiscent of the 10 Power deck in the Silent Performers section but with a much lower Win Rate.

Tier 3

Galactus is a bit of an enigma right now. The arrival of Symbiote Spider-Man caused players to explore a lot of new ideas with the Eater of Worlds. So far, the best list is still the one that we first saw in the A Blink In Time season in May. It was brought back to relevancy this week with the Destroy change.

Obviously, Conquest isn’t the best mode for such a deck because fooling your opponent goes a long way into improving your Win Rate. That’s something you can really only do once in Conquest.

As for Discard, the archetype has been relying on Stature Darkhawk to shine in the current environment. The Classic Discard build has been doing alright since Apocalypse returned to an eight power card, but Destroy has more potential to explore when it comes to iconic synergies right now.

Closing Words

There are two types of decks that are doing particularly well in Conquest right now: disruptive decks and proactive decks whose immediate counter is not around. The first category is led by Stature Darkhawk and Junk, depending on your preference of attacking your opponent’s hand, deck, or board space. As for the proactive decks, the Ongoing synergy seems to be unchecked right now, which gives a lot of room for KaZoo and The Living Tribunal to farm some tickets.

This is just the start of the season, and plenty of players might join the Conquest party once they reach the Infinite rank. As such, I expect some potential changes in the near future—at least for the popularity of each deck. There might not be anything huge until the next OTA that is expected on the 12th, but just facing more of a certain archetype might require a change in one of your flexible or counter cards.
