Marvel Snap Conquest Meta Tier List: November 18, 2024 – War of the Nine Realms Week 2 & Post OTA

After the OTA, the story in Conquest is pretty different from the story in Ranked. Which cards are on top? Agent Venom, Surtur, or something else? Read this week's Conquest Tier List to find out!

Welcome to our Marvel Snap Conquest Meta Tier List! Each week, we review the best decks in the ever-changing Marvel Snap Conquest meta.

This report is dedicated to the Conquest mode and lists the current best decks to run the gauntlet and grab your next Infinity avatar. We also provide a Ranked report, available around the middle of the week based on the latest updates, that highlights the best archetypes for that mode. Looking to figure out the impact of the newly released card or the latest balance changes in Conquest? This is the place to be!

If you are looking for more information about a deck in particular, check out our Archetypes pages, with detailed information about each of the household names in Marvel Snap.

Marvel Snap Conquest Overview

In Ranked, it looked like Agent Venom handled the recent nerfs much better than Surtur did. In Conquest, however, the opposite was true. The 10 Power archetype posted decent numbers, and the best Thanos deck was also inspired by this concept. Conquest is known to be less competitive before the Infinity League starts, but this is quite a difference compared to the post-Infinite Ladder.

You can see that proactive development is doing much better in this mode, likely because the opponent can’t Retreat for a cube every time you get a good start. I mean, they can, but they will be forced to win a four or an eight cube game to make up for it eventually.

You could just look at Conquest as the simpler mode where proactive decks are doing better just because they are easier to pilot. But keep in mind that these decks could also be performing better because the opponent can’t just Retreat for (almost) free when the early game doesn’t go their way.

After all, Sera Control, the top Ranked deck, is in this Tier List, but it did much worse here than on the Ladder this week. Maybe players were testing it and didn’t play it very well to explain this difference, or maybe Sera Control isn’t as good when you play with the Conquest rules.

Happy Tier List, everyone!

Disclaimer and Tier Explanations

In order to be featured here, a deck needs to hold a win rate above the 50% threshold over more than a hundred Conquest games.

In order to create this chart, den is using data from our Marvel Snap Tracker, as well as other available data online and his own expertise and opinion of respected players. If a deck showed great performances with a very limited presence in the meta, you can find it in the Silent Performers section. That section highlights decks with an excellent Win Rate, but too little of a sample size to be representative of their real strength.

Decks not good enough to be considered contenders but with a good representation will be ranked in Tier 3 in our chart. See those builds as decks that are good to know about, as you should face them when playing Marvel Snap. However, unless the meta changes or a new variation of the build emerges, these decks are a notch below the dominant ones in Tiers 1 and 2.

Silent Performer: Decks with a very little presence in the meta that still showcase a Cube Average and Win Rate worthy of a Tier 2 deck (or better). Oftentimes, these can be archetypes with some nice game play that have been left unchecked in the current environment, or decks on the rise that found a few good match ups to abuse.

Tier 1: Tier 1 represents decks with all the upsides we would be looking for to run the gauntlet. They have good match ups in the current meta, offer different play patterns during a match, and often have the ability for explosive or surprising turns. These should be decks worth investing into in order to climb for the coming week.
Win Rate > 60%

Tier 2: Tier 2 are very good decks but with a weakness holding them back – either not being as reliable in its draws as Tier 1 decks, countered by another popular deck, or still being a work in progress as you read this. A good pilot could probably take these and have the same results as with a Tier 1 deck, but their play patterns are more difficult to enact compared to the tier above.
Win Rate > 57%

Tier 3: This tier is made of decks that have a pervasive issue compared to Tier 1 or Tier 2 decks. Usually, Tier 3 will be a mix of decks on the rise that don’t have much data, old archetypes on the decline, decks that require substantial experience and/or knowledge to pilot properly, powerful decks that aren’t well positioned, or niche decks.
Win Rate > 55%

Budget: Decks that consist only of cards in Pool 1 and 2 that are still capable of competing with an experienced pilot in a similar Collection Level, Rank, and MMR range. See our matchmaking guide for more details.

Most of the decks on this report are focused on developing power first and foremost, and that game plan looks to be much more efficient in Conquest if you trust the data. After the OTA, the best points driven decks were nerfed and flexibility gained a lot of upsides. Naturally, this made Arishem Loki a great deck since the bonus energy puts it at an advantage anytime the game isn’t about drawing a specific synergy.

Basically, Arishem Loki can stay in the game whenever it draws well, or whenever the opponent doesn’t. The extra energy makes this deck more reliable than any other with a subpar draw. This only leaves an opposing early Snap as a potential big cube loss, which you can deny by taking the Retreat if you don’t have a good hand.

When nothing is particularly strong, an extra energy is enough to get a 66% Win Rate.

Potential Additions

Most standalone good cards can fit in Arishem Loki. Copycat, Mobius M. Mobius, Aero, and Vision are a few that come to mind.

With Agent Venom and Surtur both taking a hit in the last update, Discard became the deck with one of the highest points potentials in the game. Factor in the possibility of a fairly early Snap and Malekith adding a bit of reliability to the archetype, and an explain for why Discard is a relatively safe choice at the moment starts to appear.

Potential Additions

Moon Knight can replace Gambit for a different type of disruption. Lady Sif helps shift the focus to points over disruption.

After a meltdown in the Ranked mode, the 10 Power archetype showed that it can still win a decent amount of games if the opponent is eventually forced to beat your points output. Indeed, while Surtur and Skaar are now easier to beat since they both lost one point of power, they remain a very strong duo when the deck works as intended.

In Ranked, you only get one cube when that happens and your opponents move on to the next match. In Conquest, however, once you know your early Snaps will be met with a Retreat, the door is open for you to bluff in future rounds.

Potential Additions

Psylocke could replace Kate Bishop for the times when you miss both Surtur and Zabu.

Destroy still has some very difficult match ups to go against, as Shadow King continues to be very popular and Armor is a staple in the 10 Power deck. But, with the average power required to win a game on the decline (and power being the most important metric in Conquest), Destroy had a better shot here than it did in Ranked.

At least, that is what the 59% Win Rate tells me. That’s a score Deadpool has not reached for quite a while in the other mode.

Potential Additions

Frigga can be Shang-Chi or Arnim Zola.

After a very disappoint showing in the other mode, Good Cards Wiccan did better in Conquest with a 57.5% Win Rate. That’s still not enough to convince me it is as good as some players say it is, though.

Obviously, an active Wiccan on Turn 4 is an easy Snap, but once the opponent knows your deck you are very likely going to get Snapped whenever you skip a beat during the first three turns.

If you want to play with more energy, Arishem simply looks better.

Potential Additions

Mirage or Psylocke can replace Kate Bishop. There is also a build with Domino, Zabu, and a couple of other 1-Costs.

This is the most controversial ranking of the report, as I can understand both sides of the coin:

  • Sera Control isn’t as good once the opponent knows which cards to play around. They can also Snap if Agent Venom isn’t played on Turn 2.
  • Conquest is less competitive, and Sera Control demands some experience to be played well. This might have lead to players trying to learn it by taking it into Conquest, hence the worse results compared to the Ranked mode.

Whichever story you want to believe, a 57% Win Rate isn’t that bad, regardless of whether the mode or the pilots are worse for Sera Control.

Potential Additions

Mobius M. Mobius or another disruptive card could replace Rogue.

It’s been a while since Mister Negative has been able to post a solid performance in Ranked, likely due to the Snap mechanic playing heavily against the deck. But in Conquest Mister Negative is able to have flashes of brilliance; not one but two builds were able to record a 57% Win Rate this week.

There is still quite a lot of Cosmo around, but once you know your opponent isn’t playing the doggo the deck becomes a very scary opponent.

Potential Additions

The Living Tribunal build posted a similar performance, only 0.5% behind the On Reveal deck.

Pure Move posted a 56% Win Rate, which isn’t terrible, but it is significantly behind the best synergies on this report. I have no doubt that a very good Move player will be able to raise this score, but someone who is still learning how to play Move should expect to struggle a bunch.

Thanos had two decks around a 55.5% Win Rate: the 10 Power version and the Destroy version. Unfortunately, both versions had their signature archetypes (Deadpool Destroy and 10 Power) do better than Thanos in this very report, so it is hard to vouch for the Mad Titan. These are more flexible builds if you don’t like the straight-forward approach of the basic Destroy or 10 Power decks at least.

As soon as the opponent knows what your plan is, Double Up immediately loses some of its power. A 55% Win Rate isn’t bad, but it is a stark drop compared to its Ranked performance. Clearly, this deck wants to stay under the radar for as long as possible.

A 54% Win Rate for Scream Move is the lowest on the report, but it is still high enough to make this a playable deck. Pure Move wasn’t very popular in the data I looked at, though, so don’t expect to have many free wins with this one.

Closing Words

I don’t think I can dismiss the fact that Conquest is less competitive than Ranked at this time of the season when I assess the performance of each archetype. If I wanted to be super serious about the game, I would probably give more weight to the Ranked report instead of this one.

However, the competitive community in Marvel Snap is extremely small, and the game doesn’t give us much incentive to take it seriously. As such, you could make the argument that Conquest is a better reflection of the average’s player experience in Marvel Snap.

This is why we have two reports, but it’s important to remember that not everyone plays for the same reasons or has the same investment in the game.

As usual, find me on the Marvel Snap Zone community Discord to discuss the report, or you can follow my Twitter page where I share decks and biased opinions about the game.

Good Game Everyone.
