Marvel Snap Conquest Meta Tier List: July 26, 2024 – Maximum Effort Week 3

It's another week with Arishem at the top of the rankings, but the gap is closing! Find out which decks are best in Conquest this week here!

Welcome to our Marvel Snap Conquest Meta Tier List! Each week, we review the best decks in the ever-changing Marvel Snap Conquest meta.

This report is dedicated to the Conquest mode and lists the current best decks to run the gauntlet and grab your next Infinity avatar. We also provide a Ranked report, available around the middle of the week based on the latest updates, that highlights the best archetypes for that mode. Looking to figure out the impact of the newly released card or the latest balance changes in Conquest? This is the place to be!

If you are looking for more information about a deck in particular, check out our Archetypes pages, with detailed information about each of the household names in Marvel Snap.

Marvel Snap Conquest Overview

Similar to the Ranked mode, Conquest has Arishem Loki remaining atop the rankings, but with a shorter lead compared to before the OTA. Plus, even if they aren’t in Tier 1, Lockjaw Hammer, Bounce, and Junk are all still part of this report, which shows that the buffs to Viper, Hit Monkey, and Lockjaw had a positive impact. Overall, the balance update did impact the meta the way we expected it would, it just probably wasn’t harsh enough.

In this context, the Conquest grind is mostly focused around two archetypes: Arishem Loki and Good Cards Mockingbird. Both are arguably the best at developing points flexibly right now while still being able to react to their opponent if needed. Following these two are the archetypes that are targeting Arishem with Darkhawk. Then there’s the good but out of elite contention decks, such as Junk. Overall, Conquest looks very similar to the Ladder in this Arishem environment.

Happy Tier List, everyone!

Disclaimer and Tier Explanations

In order to be featured here, a deck needs to hold a win rate above the 50% threshold over more than a hundred Conquest games.

In order to create this chart, den is using data from our Marvel Snap Tracker, as well as other available data online and his own expertise and opinion of respected players. If a deck showed great performances with a very limited presence in the meta, you can find it in the Silent Performers section. That section highlights decks with an excellent Win Rate, but too little of a sample size to be representative of their real strength.

Decks not good enough to be considered contenders but with a good representation will be ranked in Tier 3 in our chart. See those builds as decks that are good to know about, as you should face them when playing Marvel Snap. However, unless the meta changes or a new variation of the build emerges, these decks are a notch below the dominant ones in Tiers 1 and 2.

Silent Performer: Decks with a very little presence in the meta that still showcase a Cube Average and Win Rate worthy of a Tier 2 deck (or better). Oftentimes, these can be archetypes with some nice game play that have been left unchecked in the current environment, or decks on the rise that found a few good match ups to abuse.

Tier 1: Tier 1 represents decks with all the upsides we would be looking for to run the gauntlet. They have good match ups in the current meta, offer different play patterns during a match, and often have the ability for explosive or surprising turns. These should be decks worth investing into in order to climb for the coming week.
Win Rate > 60%

Tier 2: Tier 2 are very good decks but with a weakness holding them back – either not being as reliable in its draws as Tier 1 decks, countered by another popular deck, or still being a work in progress as you read this. A good pilot could probably take these and have the same results as with a Tier 1 deck, but their play patterns are more difficult to enact compared to the tier above.
Win Rate > 56%

Tier 3: This tier is made of decks that have a pervasive issue compared to Tier 1 or Tier 2 decks. Usually, Tier 3 will be a mix of decks on the rise that don’t have much data, old archetypes on the decline, decks that require substantial experience and/or knowledge to pilot properly, powerful decks that aren’t well positioned, or niche decks.
Win Rate > 52%

Budget: Decks that consist only of cards in Pool 1 and 2 that are still capable of competing with an experienced pilot in a similar Collection Level, Rank, and MMR range. See our matchmaking guide for more details.

Just like we saw in the Ranked report, Arishem has lost a bit of the lead it had over the other decks. It now only has one percent more Win Rate than the Good Cards Mockingbird deck. Still, a 64.5% Win Rate in a meta that is targeting Arishem leaves little room to doubt that the Celestial Judge is the best and most influential card in the game right now. It’s even more apparent when the best performing list is running Darkhawk, showing that the deck is more focused on beating itself rather than the other decks.

Potential Additions

Leech, Doctor Octopus, Sandman, Mobius M. Mobius, and other high impact card make a lot of sense in the deck, alongside the usual strong standalone cards like Nocturne and Jeff the Baby Land Shark.

With Arishem still the most popular archetype in the game, I expected the Darkhawk build of Good Cards to post better results than this one. But, with a 63.5% Win Rate, it was the Gwenpool+Mockingbird driven deck that managed to post the best performance from a non-Arishem deck after the OTA.

It kind of makes sense considering Arishem has been running both Rogue and Shang-Chi lately in order to counter Darkhawk as often as possible. As such, being able to develop a lot of points without relying on a specific card seems to be a better route. In this list, you have Thena, Angela, Mockingbird, Sasquatch, and Shang-Chi that are all able to win a location, on top of Gwenpool turning most of your cards into great points contributors.

Potential Additions

Mobius M. Mobius and Shang-Chi are the flexible cards in the deck, although the latter feels necessary in a meta with a lot of high power cards.

You could also consider this Move variant of the deck. It didn’t perform as well, but it could suit a Move Enjoyer more:

A 60.5% Win Rate is enough to make it into Tier 1, but I still have to note the 3% gap between this list and the other Good Cards build (as well as the 4% gap with Arishem Loki, its supposed target). With this in mind, you might wonder if Darkhawk‘s influence on the current meta is decreasing.

This wouldn’t be so surprising; Arishem Loki has had time to adapt, and it is now running at least two answers to the 5-Cost. Fortunately, the community is slowly collecting Cassandra Nova from the new Deadpool’s Diner game mode, which should provide another card to hedge your bets against Arishem. Plus, that one won’t require you to play Korg and Rockslide for other match ups.

Stay tuned! I believe this archetype will be on the move in the weeks to come.

Potential Additions

Juggernaut is the flexible card in the build, replaceable with any other card you deem impactful in the current environment (just make sure it’s able to be played flexibly in the second portion of the match).

After a nice performance in the Ranked mode where this deck positioned itself as a solid deck against Arishem, Stature Darkhawk became quite popular in Conquest… but it didn’t live up to the expectations. The deck did fairly well with a 59% Win Rate overall, but with Good Cards Ravonna being built for a very similar purpose in the upper tier, I start to wonder if we need two Darkhawk decks.

Plus, considering this deck had a better performance in Ranked compared to Conquest, there is a chance that this deck needs the surprise element more in order to function at its best. Good Cards decks tend to be more flexible in a mode where you have to give your opponent more information.

Potential Additions

Silver Samurai and something to discard with it (Daken, X-23, Wolverine…) could be a pleasant duo in the deck to support Stature even more. White Widow and either Silk or Black Widow would probably be the cuts.

Junk

The Junk archetype keeps changing lists regularly. It seems to still be looking for a way to go back to being a great archetype. As it stands, Viper has proven that it deserves to be a part of the mix. She helps the deck improve its ability to limit the opponent’s space during the first half of the match, which is often the most important time to do so.

Even with this part of its game plan improved, the points still seem to be a problem for Junk. It even went back to the Sersi, Mockingbird, Annihilus core despite with the explosive card being recently nerfed. In this Loki meta, there is always a chance your Annihilus gets stolen and you get your cards back. Unfortunately, both Ajax and the Move package (Iron First, Dagger, and Ghost-Spider) both posted disappointing results this week.

Potential Additions

Shang-Chi, Enchantress, or other counter cards always make sense in a disruptive deck. Titania is also a popular 1-Cost in the Junk synergy, typically replacing Nico Minoru.

The immortal Shuri Sauron always pops back up in Conquest eventually, posting a solid performance and reminding everyone it still exists. This time, it was a 56% Win Rate over 200 games that made Shuri Sauron relevant in Conquest yet again.

Potential Additions

The list has been basically the same for quite some time now, so it’s hard to imagine making any specific changes.

Although it can’t compare to Arishem Loki, the High Evo build is doing well enough to compare to a lot of other decks in the game. Arguably, its biggest limitation is trying to play more synergistic cards, such as Storm, that require a certain set up or timing.

With this in mind, this way of building Arishem is probably good to play if you enjoy the High Evolutionary synergy, but it’s not really good if your goal is to be as competitive as possible.

Potential Additions

Sunspot, Rogue, Blob, and She-Hulk are all cards to consider in the deck, in addition to the typical “fit me in your deck I’m good” type of cards that fit Arishem‘s play style perfectly.

Lockjaw managed to be a part of both the Ranked and the Conquest report following its buff in the latest OTA, which shows that the change was meaningful. So far, the deck didn’t manage to be a particularly powerful contender, and the 56% Win Rate is good, but not great.

The most interesting part about the Lockjaw deck is the fact that it is still evolving as we speak. White Widow and Wave are now in the mix, alongside Giganto (which isn’t a popular inclusion). This demonstrates how the deck still has the ability to grow, and it could possibly solidify its position in Tier 2 doing so.

Potential Additions

Psylocke or Zabu could help with getting Lockjaw out on Turn 3. Otherwise, the deck is pretty flexible outside of Lockjaw, Wasp, and the Hammer synergy.

Silver Surfer started the season as the hottest archetype around thanks to Gwenpool, but it quickly disappeared since Arishem started playing Leech. With a 53.5% Win Rate, Toxic Surfer was the best performer for the entire archetype.

Ajax is still looking for its archetype it seems. The card was featured in both the Good Cards and Sera Control archetypes without ever making it into the best performing list. In Conquest, it was the Pure Evolutionary deck that used Ajax as another big power card, supported by Scorpion, Cyclops, and The Thing. The 53.5% Win Rate is decent, but it’s not enough to say Ajax is a menace in the current meta.

Junk and Bounce were very popular after the OTA, and they still kind of are right now. But there is much more of Arishem and Good Cards, which Destroy can’t bully like it would with the others. This explains why Destroy has lost a large amount of momentum, diving to 52.5% Win Rate for this Conquest report.

Bounce

On its way back with both Hit Monkey and Werewolf By Night buffed recently, Bounce is already fighting to stay on the competitive side of the meta. Unfortunately, this kind of points driven list doesn’t seem to be good enough to go against the rest of the meta. It is probably already time for Bounce to consider another approach to surround the recently buffed cards.

Closing Words

Although the situation isn’t particularly different from a ranking standpoint, it is better when looking at how each deck is performing. Sure, the popularity of some cards is still concerning—Arishem is as popular as all the other decks combined—but this has routinely been the case when an archetype is better than the rest.

Logically, we should see a second wave of nerfs hit Arishem next week. There’s a patch expected on Tuesday and an OTA on Thursday. If you don’t want to play the Infinity league in this meta, the second half of the week should (hopefully) feature a completely new environment.
