Punisher War Machine is the second Series 5 card joining Marvel Snap for the May 2026 Season, Daredevil: Crimson Twilight. It is a 2-Cost, 2-Power card that reads:
When drawn, mark one of your empty locations.
Objective: Win that location → +1 Max Energy.

Today, let’s explore the new card strengths and, of course, the best decks to try it out in.
Series 5 cards can be purchased for 6,000 Collector’s Tokens from the Token Shop as the latest Seasonal Spotlight card. They will be also be included in the Seasonal Series 5 Snap Pack for 5,000 Collector’s Tokens during their season and the following one.
Synergies
The week 1 releases are perfect for Punisher War Machine, who wants nothing but a deck able to develop a lot of power early on. If we draw the 2-cost anytime during our first three turns, the new high power archetypes have plenty of cards able to win the location we mark:

Plus, Punisher War Machine doesn’t need to be played, just drawn. As such, the 2-cost won’t force us into specific play patterns. If we want the energy, we’ll play our high power card on the marked location. If we don’t need it, we can always use it as bait while we develop an Iron Patriot or Viv Vision somewhere else.
But that’s where the issue might be : Do we need the energy?
Typically, decks looking to gain energy want to make sure they get it, not gamble on a possible gain. However, those same decks looking for extra energy typically don’t shine in the early game, as they tend to pack a lot of high cost cards. In that context, is Punisher War Machine really an interesting card for Ramp oriented decks?

Among 2-cost cards, Punisher War Machine would be the first one to possibly grant extra energy every single turn, a potential massive upside compared to Jennifer Kale or Psylocke. Yet, until we find a way to win that location reliably, Punisher War Machine could also be a blank [2/2] card.
Let’s go back to our high power decks, as those will surely win the location we pick if we decide to invest there. At the moment, this is what one of those decks looks like:
The highest cost card is Legion, while the other 11 inclusions cost 3 energy at most. What would that deck do if it had one more energy ? Probably play more cards for a turn or two, and then run out of gas once in the final turns.
For Punisher War Machine, we need to solve that riddle: Which deck needs the extra energy, while also packing enough early game to reliably win the marked location?
Early on, this is the obvious answer:

The Verdict: Should You Get Punisher War Machine?
Extra energy in Marvel Snap has always been a great way to gain an edge over our opponent. Thus, I can’t dismiss Punisher War Machine, even if it is difficult to find a deck in need of the new 2-cost.
However, most of the current high power archetypes are fairly flexible, while Techno-Organic Virus can consume energy on its own. As such, I expect the Martyr, Lizard, Wilson Fisk trio to represent a good foundation to make sure we win the marked location. We simply need to find high cost cards to use that extra energy.
