Marvel Snap Conquest Meta Tier List: August 6, 2024 – Young Avengers Preseason

Conquest was Arishem's backyard heading into the Infinity League. With Cassandra Nova and an OTA to even the odds, which decks dominated in this last week of Conquest?

Welcome to our Marvel Snap Conquest Meta Tier List! Each week, we review the best decks in the ever-changing Marvel Snap Conquest meta.

This report is dedicated to the Conquest mode and lists the current best decks to run the gauntlet and grab your next Infinity avatar. We also provide a Ranked report, available around the middle of the week based on the latest updates, that highlights the best archetypes for that mode. Looking to figure out the impact of the newly released card or the latest balance changes in Conquest? This is the place to be!

If you are looking for more information about a deck in particular, check out our Archetypes pages, with detailed information about each of the household names in Marvel Snap.

Marvel Snap Conquest Overview

In the Ranked mode, Arishem was a problem before the OTA, but the counters managed to limit it quite effectively (largely thanks to Snapping without the Arishem player knowing why). In Conquest, however, Arishem was unstoppable. Knowing which cards to play around removed the advantage that other decks had in the Ranked mode. As such, Conquest aficionados probably wished for the OTA even more than those playing Ranked.

Well, Arishem isn’t the highest Win Rate anymore! That distinction goes to Good Cards over a large sample size (71%), or Midrange Sandman (76%) if you give credit to only about a hundred matches. Since the OTA, Arishem Loki managed to post a 69.5% Win Rate, which placed it third overall and potentially able to claim the top spot again in the future.

Presented this way, it might seem like the combination of the patch and the OTA last week wasn’t enough to restore some diversity to the Conquest mode. But, even though the mode could still be regarded as battle between Arishem and Good Cards, plenty of decks have progressed, leading to a pretty stacked Tier 1.

First, the best overall Win Rate actually goes to the new build, Midrange Sandman. The deck wasn’t popular enough to escape the Silent Performers section, but considering the performance in Ranked was also amazing I think we can trust that this is a solid archetype. There are also three more decks to discuss with a Win Rate above 60%, as Patriot, Silver Surfer, and Darkhawk Stature all performed really well in the Infinity League after the OTA.

If you hoped to see Arishem disappear with the OTA, you might be disappointed. If you were just looking for more balance and new decks to play, the update was a great step in that direction.

Happy Tier List, everyone!

Disclaimer and Tier Explanations

In order to be featured here, a deck needs to hold a win rate above the 50% threshold over more than a hundred Conquest games.

In order to create this chart, den is using data from our Marvel Snap Tracker, as well as other available data online and his own expertise and opinion of respected players. If a deck showed great performances with a very limited presence in the meta, you can find it in the Silent Performers section. That section highlights decks with an excellent Win Rate, but too little of a sample size to be representative of their real strength.

Decks not good enough to be considered contenders but with a good representation will be ranked in Tier 3 in our chart. See those builds as decks that are good to know about, as you should face them when playing Marvel Snap. However, unless the meta changes or a new variation of the build emerges, these decks are a notch below the dominant ones in Tiers 1 and 2.

Silent Performer: Decks with a very little presence in the meta that still showcase a Cube Average and Win Rate worthy of a Tier 2 deck (or better). Oftentimes, these can be archetypes with some nice game play that have been left unchecked in the current environment, or decks on the rise that found a few good match ups to abuse.

Tier 1: Tier 1 represents decks with all the upsides we would be looking for to run the gauntlet. They have good match ups in the current meta, offer different play patterns during a match, and often have the ability for explosive or surprising turns. These should be decks worth investing into in order to climb for the coming week.
Win Rate > 58%

Tier 2: Tier 2 are very good decks but with a weakness holding them back – either not being as reliable in its draws as Tier 1 decks, countered by another popular deck, or still being a work in progress as you read this. A good pilot could probably take these and have the same results as with a Tier 1 deck, but their play patterns are more difficult to enact compared to the tier above.
Win Rate > 55%

Tier 3: This tier is made of decks that have a pervasive issue compared to Tier 1 or Tier 2 decks. Usually, Tier 3 will be a mix of decks on the rise that don’t have much data, old archetypes on the decline, decks that require substantial experience and/or knowledge to pilot properly, powerful decks that aren’t well positioned, or niche decks.
Win Rate > 52%

Budget: Decks that consist only of cards in Pool 1 and 2 that are still capable of competing with an experienced pilot in a similar Collection Level, Rank, and MMR range. See our matchmaking guide for more details.

The best deck in the Ranked mode also posted the highest Win Rate in Conquest. Just based on its performance in the other mode, I could have placed Midrange Sandman atop Tier 1 when I saw the 76% Win Rate in Conquest. However, with just 100 games while the other archetypes all had at least 300, one could still doubt the deck’s ability to dominate once the opponent knows about Sandman, or the way points are typically spread across the three locations.

Some decks won’t be able to adapt much. For example, Good Cards and Darkhawk Stature probably can’t change the way they play enough to not Retreat against a Turn 5 Snap; Sandman just limits their plays too much.

As for Patriot or Silver Surfer, Midrange Sandman is running Spider-Ham and Copycat to shut down key abilities, and it sometimes gets a free cube on the spot.

It might be weird, but Arishem Loki is probably the best deck to stand in Midrange Sandman‘s way, even with Cassandra Nova in the mix.

Although Midrange Sandman held the best Win Rate in the Infinity League since the OTA, Good Cards was the sole archetype with a list above a 70% Win Rate alongside more than 200 matches played.

Once again, there were a lot of lists to look at for the archetype. Darkhawk also did well (65% Win Rate), but flexibility seems to be the way to go. Indeed, Good Cards isn’t trying to beat anyone solely with points right now, as all the decks in Tier 1 are very close when it comes to their potential development.

What separates Good Cards from the others is its ability to keep which lane it will go for a secret until the very end. Sure, your opponent knows that a lane with Thena or Angela is likely one you covet, the second one is much harder to figure out when Jeff the Baby Land Shark, Nocturne, and Captain Marvel are on the board and Gwenpool has buffed some cards in your hand.

Information is key in Conquest, so the ability to disguise it as much as possible goes a long way towards being as competitive as possible.

Potential Additions

Vision replaced Nocturne in certain lists, in case you don’t have the latter in your collection. If you’re lacking several cards, you probably want to switch to the Korg, Rockslide, Darkhawk build.

Overall, the OTA removed this deck’s obvious Snaps in the midgame where an early Doctor Octopus could shut down your opponent. Now, Arishem has to win more contested matches, and the generated cards play a bigger role in the deck’s success. Still, Arishem Loki can still count on plenty of strong standalone cards to remain a top tier deck, and the 69% Win Rate shows that most of the contested games end up with a win.

Cassandra Nova is the number one problem, but the deck is flexible enough to run both Shadow King and Shang-Chi. Plus, Loki on Turn 2 is probably the easiest Snap in Conquest right now.

Potential Additions

Nocturne, Jeff, and strong standalone cards in general make sense in an Arishem deck.

When Spider-Ham and Copycat don’t hit an important card, Patriot probably has the highest points potential in Marvel Snap right now (at least among the competitive decks listed in this report). Unfortunately, the other decks prevail when it comes to flexibility, and almost everyone else is running some sort of disruption. In this context, Patriot is great when things go according to plan because your opponent often won’t be able to match your development. The 65% Win Rate over 600 games shows that the deck can perform in this environment. However, a Patriot player has to be disciplined and accept a Retreat whenever the opponent’s disruption just shuts you down early on.

Potential Additions

Super-Skrull wins you the mirror match, while some lists are running Blink or Nocturne to make the deck less draw dependent.

The best proactive archetype in the Ranked report, Silver Surfer lost that distinction to Patriot in Conquest. That’s likely due to this deck being a little worse in a mode with a lot more of the very best decks around.

If you think about it, none of the current top tier decks are relying on 1-Cost cards. Arishem Loki is running Quinjet, but that’s about it. That greatly limits how good Killmonger can be. Good Cards also made Shadow King a strong card to run, which hurts Silver Surfer in the process. Last, Sandman isn’t good news for a deck that is looking to play at least two, if not three cards on the last turn of play.

A 62.5% Win Rate in a tough environment is a fantastic performance if you think about it.

Potential Additions

Spider-Ham can join Copycat for more disruption, while Hope Summers is often preferred to Sera in the deck. Red Guardian, Mobius M. Mobius, and other strong 3-Cost cards can always be considered.

Stature Darkhawk

This archetype was more discreet in Ranked and only posted a bottom of Tier 2 kind of performance, but it did great in Conquest with a 61% Win Rate.

The change towards a more disruptive approach now that a build around Moon Knight has been figured out is likely is better suited for Conquest since this mode rewards that type of play style more. Also, Arishem was already a great match up before the OTA, and it likely only improved with Cassandra Nova added to the mix alongside the nerf to Doctor Octopus.

Once again, I’m curious to know how good Stature Darkhawk can be if Arishem wasn’t so popular. With the added disruption, the deck looks pretty strong already. Plus, it doesn’t look like Arishem is going anywhere, so Stature Darkhawk should remain a solid option in the near future.

Potential Additions

Copycat can replace Cassandra Nova for more disruption.

I was disappointed to see Discard only manage to be a Tier 3 archetype in the Ranked report, so this 59% Win Rate—just one percent shy of Tier 1—shows the recent buffs had an impact.

Obviously, the deck can be frustrating to play in the current meta with Spider-Ham and Copycat turning off Morbius, Dracula, MODOK, or Apocalypse while Sandman punishes you for discarding Swarm. Still, Discard remains a solid pick for players without a large collection, and it offers a simple strategy to play as well.

Potential Additions

Corvus Glaive and Helicarrier (and possibly the Collector) are some cards you could consider for a more flexible deck instead of Strong Guy, Miek, and Moon Knight.

This has been a difficult season for Destroy. This deck is in dire need of an early Deadpool to compete in the current meta. Indeed, considering the amount of disruption around and the return of Shadow King, the 55% Win Rate is quite impressive.

The points potential is fine. Death, Venom, and Knull are all able to challenge a lane when things go according to plan. The question is how often does the plan actually work as intended in a meta with plenty of cards that are able to stop you in your tracks.

Potential Additions

Shang-Chi had better results than Arnim Zola in that last slot, but both cards can see play.

Closing Words

The Conquest meta has been very close to what happened in the Ranked mode after the OTA; the same archetypes are battling in Tier 1, although they posted different results here.

In both modes, Arishem remains an important part of the meta. The amount of archetypes running Cassandra Nova shows that it still deserves to be respected. As for the other archetypes, it looks pretty clear that some disruption is needed to aim for the top. As good as Discard, Patriot, and Silver Surfer might be, they will never be safe with Copycat and other disruptive tools around since she gives their opponents free Snaps at times.

I’m confident that a good pilot can find great success with a proactive build. Nonetheless, I would recommend investing in some disruptive cards with your last one or two slots available.
