Welcome back to our new weekly series Cache-ing In! Each week, we break down what cards will be available in the new Spotlight Caches, as well as the Spotlight Variants! The goal is to help you determine if you should “Cache in” for the content, or hoard for a better week.
Spotlight Cache Week of July 30, 2024
This week, there is no new Spotlight card, as Cassandra Nova was moved to a reward in Deadpool’s Diner! In her place, we get the return of Nico Minoru, as well as Hope Summers and Proxima Midnight!
Nico Minoru

Kicking off this week is a returning card Nico Minoru! Despite not being a new card, Nico is easily one of the best cards (if not the best) in the entire game. Her flexible spells make her a popular pick for numerous meta decks. She doesn’t require specific synergies to be played, and her spell rotation makes gives you flexibility in matches. Since her release, there has yet to be a meta where Nico wasn’t involved somewhere.
In the current meta, Nico is particularly popular within Bounce decks. Her spells offer the deck a variety of new options. She can transform your Hood into a Demon, Destroy a card for draw, move a card to a tricky location, add buffs, or even interact with locations! With Bounce, there really isn’t a bad spell. She is also easy to bounce with both Falcon and Beast, so she can get multiple triggers for different spells. Her On Reveals will also help trigger your Werewolf By Night!
To give you an idea of how popular Nico can be, here is a rough list of some meta decks she works well in:
There are more so many ways to use this card, she is a must have for any collection. Even for a brand new player, Nico Minoru scales perfectly at every level of the meta. If you are still missing her, now is a perfect time to pick her up. From the way Series Drops tend to work, good cards like Nico don’t often get lowered in Series.
Hope Summers

If you thought Nico was the only good card this week, you would be mistaken. Joining her this week is the return of Season Pass card Hope Summers! This card shook the meta the moment she was released, and continues to do so now. Her ability is the fuel for many decks, especially Kitty Pryde and Thena decks. She has often replaced Sera in decks that want to play more cards early, instead of waiting until turn 6 for a combo.
This deck has been making big waves in the high tiers of the Infinite ladder. Hope Summers helps this deck to keep the momentum of 2 cards per turn to fuel Thena, without giving up plays with 2 higher cost cards. For example: You can play 1 card onto Hope on turn 5, which gives you enough Energy to play Captain Marvel plus a 3-Cost card on turn 6. Kitty Pryde works perfectly with Hope and Angela to both stack Power and generate extra Energy each turn.
If you are looking to stay meta competitive, Hope Summers is almost a necessity. While she isn’t used in a variety of deck types aside from Thena + Bounce lists or Silver Surfer, she is extremely good on the decks she belongs to. She is a card I wouldn’t necessarily recommend to newer players, but she wouldn’t hurt to have available.
Proxima Midnight

Closing out the week is Proxima Midnight! You may not see her often, but this card is a solid pick for the top Discard lists. She gives Discard decks a way to quickly throw out Power, as well as access restricted Locations those decks often struggle with. Since she jumps to the Location with your least amount of Power, she can easily be manipulated to jump exactly where you need her the most.
This classic Discard list uses Proxima as a way to clear your hand for specific targets. You want to target your Swarms and Apocalypse primarily. As a backup plan, you can discard Helicarrier to get a fresh batch of cards and boost your The Collector. Proxima allows you to add 7 free Power to the board, while cleaning up your hand to better target your important cards. She isn’t required for Discard decks to be good, but she does enhance them with her inclusion.
If you are a Discard fan, I highly recommend this card. While her card may seem boring, her ability to add free Power to the board shouldn’t be overlooked. If you are a newer player, this card can give you a leg up on opponent’s who are also trying to pull off Swarm + Apocalypse combos. Discard is an early game staple, so Proxima can help you keep a leg up on your competition.
Spotlight Variants
If you already own the cards the Spotlight Cache offers, one of these variants will take its place! If you own none of the cards, the variants will appear after you open all four caches. Spotlight variants are time exclusive to their release week, and will only be available after 1 full year of time has passed.
After the year, they will be available for purchase from the Daily Offer. They will cost 2,400 Gold per variant. So if any of these Spotlight variants feel like a must have for you, make sure to Cache In if you have enough caches saved to guarantee the pull.
This ADIA variant is actually a repeat of Nico’s first Spotlight variant! If you like the Nightforged variant but don’t want to use keys, her 1 year anniversary is just a few months away, and you can buy the spotlight then for 2,400 Gold.

Should I Cache In?
This week is a bit different on value. We do get all 3 cards that are Series 5, but there are no new cards which hurts the value a bit. Nico Minoru and Hope Summers are the stand outs of the cache. They both are heavily meta relevant, and have been since their addition to the game. Proxima is also a good card, but discard decks aren’t often played in the current meta.
My recommendation this week is dependent on your collection status. This is obviously a catchup week, so if you are missing 2 of these cards, this is a good week to Cache In! If you are only missing 1 card (or none), this is a good week to Hoard and save for a new card you want in the coming weeks. The value is definitely packed this week to compensate for a lack of a new card, but the need to Cache In will be more specific to your collection than normal.
