In this week’s Marvel Snap Spotlight Cache rotation, Kahhori headlines as the latest Series 5 card. Hydra Bob also makes its second Spotlight appearance, and Cull Obsidian is making another round in the Spotlight rotation.
Changes to Spotlight Caches
In case you missed the news, here’s another reminder: A new card acquisition system called Snap Packs will be replacing the Spotlight Caches either on April 29 or June 3, 2025. For more information on how you should prepare, check out our guide!
Kahhori

Are newest card for this What If… Season is Kahhori! She is a 4-Cost, 6-Power card with the ability “On Reveal: Each card in your hand gives one of your cards in play +1 Power.” This Power distributes randomly across all cards in play, so cards could get equal buffs, or get all or none of the buffs.
Kahhori is an interesting card that I struggle to find a use for. Looking at raw stats, she is a [4/6] with a potential to be a [4/13] at maximum value. In reality though, she will often give 3 or 4 Power for your average draw, making her likely an average of a [4/9] or [4/10]. I honestly don’t see this card driving any decks like Moon Girl + Devil Dinosaur to be meta competitive. Besides that, there really is only one deck I can think of a use for her in:
Possible Meta Deck
You can argue this is a fun Deck since it’s very off-meta, but you could pull off some interesting combos with this deck. Effects that give extra Power are obviously better if they can scale well with the card it hits. Lasher and Scarlet Spider, for example, can multiply buffs they get to give you more value. Combo decks typically leave your hands full of cards, so Kahhori will likely average about 4 Power without support. With Snowguard, you can add cards to your hand for very little Cost. Wong and Mystique can multiply that value you are getting, and Odin just adds to the chaos. And since Kahhori is a 1-Cost card, she works well with Zabu too!
Low CL Decks
Moon Girl + Devil Dinosaur decks are very easy to make at low CL. Since you already want a full hand, Kahhori can slot in as simple value. If you stack a location with cards generators and Kahhori, Odin can fill your hand and give her an extra trigger. With all those card generators, The Collector can get plenty if value. You shouldn’t actually need Moon Girl with so many card generators, but in case you draw poorly, she gives a backup plan.
Kahhori Prediction
I think the best way I can describe Kahhori is she is a worse Iron Heart. She costs more, has variable consistency with hand size, and unpredictability where Power will distribute. With Iron Heart, she always gives the same value, you can better predict how math could play out, and she doesn’t require you to have a full hand for value.
I just don’t see a deck that wants Kahhori in it long term. Surfer decks don’t want her, buff decks don’t need her, and Moon Girl + Devil Dinosaur has no space for her in its curve. Unless Victoria Hand decks find a space for her, I don’t see this card lasting long term.

Cull Obsidian

Cull Obsidian has been one of those cards that will be super relevant for a couple of weeks, then vanish into obscurity. His biggest struggle is finding a deck that runs plenty of 1-Costs, needs raw stats, and has room in the deck list for a [4/10]. After Cap's Shield was changed to a 0-Cost, Cull lost a guaranteed 1-Cost card to play on with Surtur decks. Now the only decks that may use him are Thanos and Zoo.
Zoo decks run a bunch of 1-Cost cards, so Cull never has an issue meeting his requirements to be played. Since so many cards have low Power, he offers a simple stat stick for when you need to swing a location without Mockingbird or Gilgamesh. The deck also runs Hydra Bob, so you can get value from this week’s Cache by using both cards together.
There isn’t much to say about Cull really. His text isn’t anything special, so he is literally just a Power stick. Most decks are looking for more synergy or useful abilities, so raw Power just doesn’t have any need. Every once in a while a deck pops up that makes good use of Cull, but the decks never seem to stick around long term. Needless to say, Cull isn’t a must have card. He isn’t bad necessarily, he just doesn’t have any homes that really need him.
Hydra Bob
This card surprised me quite a bit after his release. He launched as a [1/4] and nobody used him. Then he was quickly buffed to a [1/5], so everyone used him! Then he got nerfed back to a [1/4], but he still sees play in a couple of decks. His main appeal is having a well started 1-Cost that can move to a better position when you need it. The Snap can make opponents think you are just moving Bob around, so it can mask a strong play you are about to make.
Scream decks have become Hydra Bob’s primary home. He offers good stats for his Cost, and the movement can potentially buff Kraven to give extra value. He also discounts Miles, so you can get the discount by simply Snapping and not moving anything else. It can be particularly helpful if you want to play Miles on turn 2, so you play Bob on turn 1 and Snap.
Scream decks have a pretty tight set of cards, but you do have a few alternate options. Stegron offers decent stats and guarantees movement to the right, so you can setup value with Kraven. Magneto can rearrange opponent’s cards on the last turn to mess with a final board state they were setting up. Kingpin can also work to give your opponents even more negative Power when they move to his location. Stacking him with Kraven can make movement to a location detrimental for your opponent.
Hydra Bob has proven to be a solid card with more utility than raw stats. He can help you establish priority, access tough to access locations, and enable other cards. He isn’t a must have card, but he definitely enhances the decks he works in. Considering I recommended players skip this card when he first released, it might be a good time for you to pick him up if you have had your eye on him.
It’s also good to note how good this card is in Sanctum Showdown since you can snap on multiple turns and have him constantly jump around. Since it seems this mode should be returning in the future, keep it in mind as you decide if you should get Hydra Bob before it returns.
Spotlight Variants
If you already own the cards the Spotlight Caches offer, one of the variants below will take its place! If you own none of the cards, the variants will appear after you open all four caches. Spotlight Variants are time exclusive to their release week and will not be available again until further notice.
If any of these Spotlight Variants feel like a must have for you, make sure to Cache In if you have enough caches saved to guarantee the pull!
Should I Cache In?
My recommendation this week is to Hoard Your Caches. Hydra Bob is the only card worth using here in my opinion. Unless I am very wrong about Kahhori, it’s a low value week. Save those keys for a better value, or let them convert to tokens when Snap Packs release soon.
