Best Selene, Horseman of Famine Decks and Strategy Guide

Is the new card worth buying or trying your luck in Snap Packs? Read our guide and find some decks to try out on day 1 in here!

Selene, Horseman of Famine is the fourth Series 5 card joining Marvel Snap for the March 2026 Season, , X-Men: Origins of Apocalypse. It is a 4-Cost, 4-Power card that reads:
Objective: Have 3 cards with no abilities in play Steal 5 Power from an enemy card here.

Today, let’s explore the new card strengths and, of course, the best decks to try it out in.

Series 5 cards can be purchased for 6,000 Collector’s Tokens from the Token Shop as the latest Seasonal Spotlight card. They will be also be included in the Seasonal Series 5 Snap Pack for 5,000 Collector’s Tokens during their season and the following one.

Synergies

A [4/14] with a fairly simple condition to fulfil is a pretty sweet deal. Plus, cards with no ability are trendy due to Rocks synergizing with En Sabah Nur and the new Ozymandias. As such, there should be absolutely no problem building a deck for the new Selene, Horseman of Famine based on that synergy.

Here are two lists, one for cards able to synergize with rocks, and the other listing cards able to add some no ability tokens to our board.

To these, we could also add the Vanilla crew, who mostly hangs out with High Evolutionary, but Misty Knight or Shocker occasionally make it into a Patriot deck.

Overall, we have more than enough to build a deck for Selene, Horseman of Famine. But we need to ask one more question : Is it good enough?

Even if they are quite popular, decks based on buffing our Rocks aren’t doing particularly well so far. Ozymandias represents a huge boost, but also makes the deck extremely predictable, as the opponent will know exactly what to expect as soon as Rocks start being summoned. Plus, if the deck was to ever take over Marvel Snap, it would not take long before Killmonger would return and keep it in check.

This is particularly important, because Selene, Horseman of Famine likely won’t elevate her archetype that much. It should be enough power to be helpful in winning her location, but the 4-cost won’t do anything to protect our Rocks, or make the deck more surprising, nor resilient. At best, Selene, Horseman of Famine will be among the cards we consider for our last slots in the deck, as a [4/14] is a great power to cost ratio.

The situation is the same with other decks using vanilla cards, such as Patriot decks with Ultron, or On Reveal ones with Doctor Doom and White Tiger. No matter the deck you play her in, Selene, Horseman of Famine will never be anything but a good amount of points with an objective attached to it.

In that context, it is likely the new card needs a deck with enough vanilla cards to already be good to see play.

The Verdict: Should You Get Selene, Horseman of Famine?

Just like Caliban, Horseman of Pestilence last week, Selene, Horseman of Famine is a strong card when it comes to sheer power. However, with no way to synergize with the objective keyword at the moment, the new card feels limited to a simple question : “Do I have a deck able to complete the objective, and looking for a solid 4-cost”.

Caliban, Horseman of Pestilence found the End of Turn 2099 archetype and made it to the metagame as a result. Selene, Horseman of Famine likely will follow a similar path, as part of a Rock, Patriot or On Reveal deck.

However, the card will require a strong deck to see play, but I doubt she will be the reason any archetype becomes a threat. Plus, the competition among 4-cost cards might be fiercer, as Ka-Zar, Iron Lad or En Sabah Nur already make sense in those Vanilla decks.
