Human Torch First Steps is the second Series 5 cards joining Marvel Snap for the July 2025 Season, Fantastic 4. It is a 3-Cost, 3-Power card that reads: End of Turn: +1 Power. Once per game, if your side here is full, double this card’s Power instead.

Today, let’s explore the new card strengths and, of course, the best decks to try it out in.
Series 5 cards can be purchased for 6,000 Collector’s Tokens from the Token Shop as the latest Seasonal Spotlight card. They will be also be included in the Seasonal Series 5 Snap Pack for 5,000 Collector’s Tokens during their season and the following one.
Strengths and Weaknesses
When played on Turn 3, the new 3-Cost will be a [3/5] after Turn 5, and it would turn into a [3/10] if you fill the location. If you run the card in your deck, I have no doubt that will happen. That makes Human Torch First Steps one of the highest power 3-Cost cards that doesn’t requiring a specific synergy around it.
You’ll kind of tell your opponent that location will have four cards on it, but this really isn’t a big deal unless you don’t have many cards in hand. Obviously, if the lane needs two cards and you only have two in hand, that’s is a huge tip to your opponent. However, today’s decks are flexible and can rely on cards like Merlin and Hawkeye Kate Bishop to keep a large hand throughout the course of a match.
On its own, the new card is already a pretty good deal; it’s likely better than Speed to be honest, and that’s a very playable card in the current meta. Now, with some context, such as the High Evo Fantasticar deck or the Good Cards Buff deck—two dominant archetypes over the first week of the season—Human Torch First Steps looks like it could become a menace.

Since Mister Fantastic First Steps released, the buff synergy has been the foundation of multiple top performing decks. As a 3-Cost, the new card fits in all of them, which means there is no doubt Human Torch First Steps is most likely going to be a meta staple.
In those synergies, the card doesn’t even need to hit the board on Turn 3. Indeed, it can stay in your hand to receive buffs, then come down on Turn 6 to fill a lane and double its power, just like we already do with Mister Sinister, Brood, and Sebastian Shaw. Conveniently, Brood and Mister Sinister can also serve to fill Human Torch First Steps‘s location.
As for weaknesses, there’s the Destroy synergy, particularly Killmonger and Lady Deathstrike, that can remove some cards from the location and derail the “double this card’s Power” part of the ability. Besides that, a late Shadow King or an early Red Guardian are going to hurt.
The Verdict: Should You Buy Human Torch First Steps?
Human Torch First Steps will fit perfectly in any of Mister Fantastic First Steps‘s great early decks and immediately feel right at home. I think the new card will quickly post fantastic results.
The question should be whether you actually need to spend tokens in order to acquire Human Torch First Steps when those decks are already posting stellar numbers without it.
For those with Fantasticar, that deck might not be complete yet, so Human Torch First Steps would probably be a worthy purchase. For others, I have no doubts Silver Surfer or Good Cards buff will be able to use the card for tons of points. However, both of those decks already have to pick from more than 12 cards, so adding one more to the pool might not be worth 6,000 tokens.
Pre-Release Score:
Human Torch First Steps Decks
There really is no suspense about these three decks; they’re all no-brainer landing spots for the new card. If you’ve read some of our other articles on this website, you already know we discussed these ahead of the new season, and they all ranked among the top archetypes in both of our week 1 Tier Lists.
In other archetypes, the card could be regarded as a potential [3/10] when played on Turn 3, which makes it a fine addition to Wiccan decks. If you wanted to guarantee doubling its power, then decks like KaZoo or Patriot that are certain to fill its locations by the end of the match would also make sense. Unfortunately, it’s pretty clear that Human Torch First Steps won’t change the fortune of those decks, it’ll just represent a fine addition to their already set-in-stone builds.

Conclusion
I don’t have much hype for this new card, as I really feel like there is nothing to discover about it. The Thing First Steps at least has some timing and positioning challenges in order to maximize its ability to destroy an opponent’s card. Human Torch First Steps, on the other hand, just feels like a “Play me anywhere you want points” type of card.
It will be a strong one for sure, but it also won’t impact the meta much because it will only make the strong decks stronger.
I hope this review of the new card was helpful. You can find everyone on the Marvel Snap Zone team in our community discord to have a chat or ask any questions.
Good Game Everyone!
