Fantomex is the last Series 5 cards joining Marvel Snap for the December 2025 Season, Weapon X. It is a 4-Cost, 6-Power card that reads: Activate: If you’ve had cards discarded and destroyed, afflict front-row enemy cards at each location with -2 Power.

Today, let’s explore the new card strengths and, of course, the best decks to try it out in.
Series 5 cards can be purchased for 6,000 Collector’s Tokens from the Token Shop as the latest Seasonal Spotlight card. They will be also be included in the Seasonal Series 5 Snap Pack for 5,000 Collector’s Tokens during their season and the following one.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Fantomex is the payoff card for the Discard and Destroy archetype. Until now,we had a few cards which trigger their ability no matter if you discard or destroy them, but we were missing a real reward for building a deck around that concept.

With Fantomex in our deck, we now have a card representing a potential [4/18] if we complete all the steps :
- Discard a card
- Destroy a card
- Play Fantomex one turn before the end of the game, so you have time to activate
When everything goes according to plan, Fantomex is obviously a fantastic card. Even without accounting for other synergies, such as buffing Ajax or greatly reducing the impact of our opponent’s Captain Carter, Fantomex base contribution is huge.
Plus, the card is very resilient to possible disruption, as we can play it in our back row to avoid CosmicGhostRider, while Red Guardian should be even easier to dodge. The main threat would be Luke Cage, but that card usually is tied to specific archetype. Should we consider Super-Adaptoid ? That one would have to start seeing play specifically because of Fantomex. Plus, one would require priority to function, as we otherwise could just activate our 4-cost and leave our opponent with nothing to steal.
Overall, Fantomex comes in a position to possibly bring a new archetype to Marvel Snap. Its main challenge will be to find the right balance to discard, destroy, play our 4-cost in the same match, while possibly fitting other cards that would benefit from enemy afflicted cards as well.
Obviously, that deck will use the likes of Marrow, Wolverine, X-23 or Wild Child, because we don’t have that much choice at the moment. However, there are plenty of other cards to consider once we found that core:

There are a few activate cards which allow to either discard or destroy, while Jocasta activating Fantomex would represent a lot of power removed from our opponent’s cards.

Killmonger might not make too much sense outside of destroying X-23, so Carnage, Venom and Deathlock look more likely as ways to destroy our cards. As for strong targets, Air-Walker joins X-23, Wolverine and Marrow as a perfect one, since the 3-cost would allow fetching Fantomex from our deck.

I don’t know if Stature will be a good direction considering Moon Knight could discard Fantomex, and we clearly don’t want that to happen. However, there are other, safer options to consider.
Since her change, Black Cat has been used a generic strong 1-cost, and Fantomex would actually make it even better, since discarding her wouldn’t be so bad in that particular deck.
Colleen Wing and Sword Master are simply safe discards they should never hit Fantomex.

I could include Abomination when paired with High Evolutionary as well, but Fantomex already requires a ton of card so I doubt we will be able to fit the High Evolutionary synergy alongside it. Already, it might be difficult to fit Diamondback or Ajax.
The Verdict: Should You Get Fantomex?
I don’t know if the card will manage to push that new archetype. Possibly, the card will look good until the hot or featured location designed to help it rotates away. Still, foundational cards are the most important to own in Marvel Snap. Indeed, whenever some new support, or a balance update will boost this synergy, Fantomex will immediately become a stronger card.
For that reason only, I think Fantomex is a must-own card.
Pre-Release Score:
Fantomex Decks
Fantomex is clearly pushing one precise type of deckbuilding, but since that archetype doesn’t exist at the moment in Marvel Snap, I’ll give multiple lists a try :
Idea #1 : Activate Jocasta on turn five to trigger Bullseye and Fantomex. On turn six, we have plenty of Swarms to play plus we can activate Fantomex again.
Idea #2 : A reliable way to find Fantomex through Air-Walker. We are forced to play more Destroy abilities but hopefully two discards will be enough.
Sort of a mix of both previous ideas, with Lockjaw to help fetch our important cards and a large emphasis on the Activate keyword.
Last possibility, improve the ceiling of the deck with Ajax and Diamondback able to dominate a location, but limited ways to destroy or discard.
