Zombie Captain Marvel is the second Series 5 cards joining Marvel Snap for the September 2025 Season, Undead Horde. It is a 4-Cost, 4-Power card that reads: Activate: Destroy your other cards here to get +3 Power for each. Move to a location you’re losing.

Today, let’s explore the new card strengths and, of course, the best decks to try it out in.
Series 5 cards can be purchased for 6,000 Collector’s Tokens from the Token Shop as the latest Seasonal Spotlight card. They will be also be included in the Seasonal Series 5 Snap Pack for 5,000 Collector’s Tokens during their season and the following one.
Strengths and Weaknesses
I’ve seen some comments from people being turned off about the “Move to a location you’re losing” part of the card, but I actually like quite a bit. Indeed, Zombie Captain Marvel is likely to be a [4/10] or [4/13] most of the time, which means that location she moves to won’t be a losing one any more.
In my opinion, Zombie Captain Marvel is nothing but a more expensive Carnage which gains 3 power instead of 2 when destroying a card. The Activate keyword is the part I like the least about the card. Yet, even that can be leveraged, for example Firehair plus a 3-cost On Reveal or destroy target, or Nimrod bot represent solid 5-cost turns to follow up Zombie Captain Marvel
With that in mind, I believe we should focus on the cards we can use to grow the new 4-cost’s power. There are quite a few :

These are the cards happy to get destroyed, as it is part of their ability. However, there are plenty of other cards we routinely destroy, even if they aren’t flagged with the destroy keyword.
Most of these becoming a bonus 3 power for Zombie Captain Marvel feels like a good deal. Plus, there are also cards rewarding us for destroying others

The Verdict: Should You Get Zombie Captain Marvel ?
I’m not entirely sure the card will make it into the iconic Deadpool Destroy, since the cost is very important to pair a destroy ability with Deadpool or Headpool on the same turn. Otherwise, I picture Zombie Captain Marvel as a great addition to more niche Destroy archetypes.
The likes of Destroy Mill or Destroy Zoo will gladly welcome the card as a new way to both destroy their cheaper cards, and build points at the same time.
I would recommend the card to anyone willing to deck build and explore the less played destroy synergies. For those on a budget, or not interested in the Destroy synergy, this is probably a skip due to its niche status.
Pre-Release Score:
Zombie Captain Marvel Decks
Deadpool Destroy is the most popular, and arguably better deck in the synergy at the moment, while it probably represents the deck least in need of Zombie Captain Marvel. Alone, that fact could cause the card to feel like it isn’t necessary.
However, I like Zombie Captain Marvel specifically because it helps the other archetypes in the Destroy synergy, hopefully making one relevant in the current metagame.
Play Zombie Captain Marvel on turn four, followed by Firehair plus Baron Zemon on turn five.
That gets us a lot of points plus two cards from the opponent’s deck.
Two decks looking to destroy cards in order to create points. Zombie Captain Marvel‘s cost will be an issue since those decks typically look for cheap, flexible options. Yet, they are also in need of big power cards, which the new 4-cost represents.
Another option to destroy the like of The Hood, a Rock, or The Void, Zombie Captain Marvel also helps to free up space to keep moving Werewolf By Night.
On turn four, the card represent another set-up to destroy Nimrod or Black Panther the following turn. I always felt like Shuri was telegraphed, so I’m glad to find another option in the 4-cost slot.
This should improve Elixir in the deck, the card typically useless if we fail to destroy Nimrod or Black Panther on turn five.
Otherwise, we can also keep it on the board until turn six, destroy Nimrod through another mean and activate it then to keep duplicating our 5-cost.
Deathlock has been the only flexible card amongst the destroy abilities in the deck, so there isn’t another option available to fit Zombie Captain Marvel is we want to try it in Deadpool Destroy.
The high-cost plus Activate keyword feel a bit too rigid in my opinion, but who knows.
