My Top 5 Decks For The Early Metagame
Table of Contents
Howdy folks, friendly neighbourhood HowlingMines is back again after a short hiatus – and boy did I walk in at the right time: March 21st brought a long-awaited patch looking to dampen the dominance of Shuri Zero and Thanos. While that impact certainly remains to be seen, many players poured into the stream to ask me “Hey HowlingMines, what do I play now?!”
Well, let me attempt to help you out there…
Of course, nobody knows what the new meta will bring just yet, but today, I’m breaking down the decklists that I would look to be playing if I was looking to smash my way to Infinite during this uncertain period:
Honourable Mention:
Top 5:
What do you think? Has enough changed to breathe new life into the metagame?

Shuri still broken as fuck
Galactus is a piece of cake. Very loser deck.
Shuri decks are still difficult to play against because Cosmo has no direct counter. I have suggested Shadow King be board wide like Hazmat instead of lane dependent. This removes the Shuri buff and reduces Taskmaster to 0 if played without priority on turn 6. Luke Cage still counters this making him an even better counter card since he impacts the whole board already and makes his 1 power seem earned. This may cause Shuri Zero players swap out Armor or Lizard for him but that loss of early power may give opponents a chance to surprise Cosmo the opponent’s Shuri on turn 4 because they have priority. It would still be a great deck but would have more counter plays to worry about.
Counters to a 26 power Red Skull behind Cosmo today at 5 energy are:
NTW seems like a great turn 4 play into the Cosmo lane if your Shuri Zero opponent has not doubled up protection with Cosmo and Armor.
Aero on turn 5 into a lane without Armor or Cosmo and Shang-Chi on turn 6.
Let me know if I am missing any possible counters.
