man-spider is the Super Premium Season Pass card for the November 2025 Season, Arachnid Anarchy. However, the card will also be obtainable immediately through the Seasonal Series 5 Snap pack. It is a 5-Cost, 1-Power card that reads: On Reveal: Merge the last card you played into this. When this merges, double its Power.

Today, let’s explore the new card strengths and, of course, the best decks to try it out in.
Series 5 cards can be purchased for 6,000 Collector’s Tokens from the Token Shop as the latest Seasonal Spotlight card. They will be also be included in the Seasonal Series 5 Snap Pack for 5,000 Collector’s Tokens during their season and the following one.
Strengths and Weaknesses
In the Developer Update video, man-spider grows to humongous amounts as it merges with the likes of Typhoid Mary, Red Skull or Starbrand. Plus, the negative Ongoing abilities disappeared with the merge.
It costs quite a bit to produce those 20 or 30 something power cards. Indeed, we need to spend 5 energy plus whatever the other card cost us. Then, a 22-power man-spider plus Starbard required 8 energy to build, which isn’t so far out of what we could expect when spending that much energy in Marvel Snap. Plus, some will be quick to remind us about the likes of Shadow King and Shang-Chi.
If we stopped here, man-spider would clearly not be a very good addition to the game’s roster. Fortunately, there should be one more step we can take to capitalize on man-spider :

Another thing to consider if we want to go down the road of maximizing the power of man-spider is the existence of other cards with the ability to merge :

At first glance, the new card could be described as a sort of Shuri. Yet, why would Second Dinner give us a very similar ability years later, and for one more energy ?
Because flexibility changes everything !
man-spider does not require us to play at a specific location like Shuri does. Then, not only we don’t have to telegraph our next turn to our opponent, it also changes the dynamic of many cards :
- Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Juggernaut, Cosmo and such cards are much harder to use.
- Arnim Zola can be played without Shuri being in the way.
- We can play for priority, so Taskmaster reveals before a Shang-Chi or Shadow King.
- We can move man-spider to dodge a possible Shang-Chi or Shadow King.
On top of those interactions, man-spider also simply allows us to reposition our points on turn five, right before the last turn of the match. Then, we can use the card to transfer points from a location to another, be it for priority’s sake, or just to abandon a location the opponent built too much of a lead on.
Moving on to another area favouring man-spider compared to Shuri : Last card against next card played.
Typically, it is really difficult to use Shuri twice when the card comes down on turn four, and we have 6 turns only. Indeed, not only we need to play a card to trigger the On Reveal ability one more time (Odin, Grand Master…), we also have to play another card to grant the buff to.
man-spider targets the last card we played, so the ability would go off as soon as we trigger it. If it works like Blink or Frigga, there might be a chance man-spider merges with itself when Odin is the card played right after it, which could possibly just double the new card’s power.
The fact we interact with the previous card played carries more benefits :

- Wave lets us play any card on turn four to merge with man-spider the next turn, meaning the cost is not a hard limit. There are plenty of other cards to bypass energy limitations such as Ravonna Renslayer, Sera, Luna Snow, Esme Cuckoo …
- man-spider the turn after Supergiant means we will merge with the last card we played that match, once again allowing us to merge with high-cost cards if we wanted to.
- Sage has to be played onto a certain location for her ability to generate power. man-spider is a way to transfer and double that power to another location.
The Verdict: Should You Get Man-Spider ?
Shadow King already has plenty of reasons to be played in the current metagame, which obviously will be an obstacle for man-spider. Yet, even if I expect the numbers in the highest ranks to be somewhere around moderate to good, this type of card typically posts strong performances in the lower ranks.
As such, I would expect man-spider to be a solid card in order to reach the Infinite rank, but probably just a fine one once playing in that more disruption heavy environment.
I expect it to be a better Shuri, although Shuri has been a niche card at best for quite some time now.
Pre-Release Score:
man-spider Decks
Second Dinner pretty much told us what to test man-spider with early on, so that first craft should be no surprise :
Another archetype to consider the [5/1] in has to be Mister Negative. There, the Premium Season Pass card can easily be paired with Arnim Zola or Taskmaster while Sage and other high-power cards can feed it quite easily.
With Limbo in play, Ravonna Renslayer allows us to play Sage and man-spider on the same turn. Then, we could play both on turn six, setting up for Arnim Zola to duplicate man-spider on turn seven. It isn’t ideal, but finding patterns of play in case Mister Negative would not show up makes this deck much more reliable.
There are other ways to builds decks with man-spider, but all will be based around the same idea to use the card as another Shuri in order to build power :
