Madame Web is the next Series 5 card joining Marvel Snap in The Amazing Spider-Season. It is a 2-Cost, 1-Power card that reads: Ongoing: You can move one of your other cards away from here each turn. Today, we will take a deeper look at the new card and, of course, the best decks to try it out in.

Spotlight Cache
Series 5 cards can be purchased for 6,000 Collector’s Tokens from the Token Shop initially as a Weekly Spotlight card, or opened as one of the featured cards in the Spotlight Caches that are found every 120 Levels on the Collection Level Track after Collection Level 500 (until the next new card releases the following week).
Strengths and Weaknesses
Let’s start with the obvious synergy with Madame Web, moving your cards to make them bigger.

These three have been the backbone of proactive Move decks for a while, and Multiple Man has always been in Phoenix Force. Plus, the cards that are able to move themselves are featured in plenty of midrange, flexible archetypes. I don’t see Madame Web making it into a Phoenix Force deck since the card can already move on its own, and Jeff the Baby Land Shark, Nocturne, and Nightcrawler don’t need the new card’s help.
In pure Move, however, there is plenty of space to work with. Replacing Doctor Strange with Madame Web would already make a lot of sense, as you should get more value from the Ongoing ability rather than a single On Reveal.
Alright, now that the obvious synergies are out of the way, let’s talk about some Madame Web spice!

You can play behind Jean Grey every turn and move your cards to other locations if you need to, depending on what your opponent does. I don’t think this will be particularly strong, but it could be a cute combo in the Ongoing deck.
On the other hand, you can do the opposite pattern with Storm by sending cards to the Flooded location (if you need to).

Play Madame Web on the same lane as any of these cards and you can then move your cards around every turn while reaping the rewards from their abilities. This also makes Madame Web a pretty good Junk counter because you can open space to keep triggering these cards if your opponent tries to clog your lane.

Certain cards will prevent you from playing onto certain lanes, such as Ebony Maw and Goose, and Madame Web would be a nice addition to send cards there anyway. Plus, you can get certain cards out of the way to keep using them as intended. If Deadpool or X-23 fall under your opponent’s Armor, or if Wong needs to be freed from Cosmo, Madame Web can turn those Retreats into playable matches. You can also move your own Armor or Cosmo to disrupt your opponent on another lane.
I believe the Ebony Maw synergy is the more interesting; you can build your deck around it and the 1-Cost helps mitigate the low power that Madame Web possesses. Still, fringe cases are something to give the card credit for, especially since Madame Web should also allow you to reach plenty of annoying locations in addition to dodging certain counter cards.
There are plenty more locations that could apply. You can use Madame Web to trigger an On Reveal before moving the card to Knowhere, or you can just get free power with K'un-Lun.

Finally, I have to talk about cards that benefit from moving, as their abilities limit their flexibility. Lizard and Medusa are pretty straight-forward to understand. Move Lizard if your opponent has four cards on the lane, and Madame Web simply allows you to get a [2/5] Medusa on whichever lane you want. As for Gladiator, Madame Web allows you to move the card if you pulled something huge that you anticipate will cost you the lane. Eight power is quite a lot, so investing it into another lane could be quite valuable.
The Verdict
Madame Web comes in as the next Move support card, which is a position that Hercules tried to fill in the past (without much success).
In the Move synergy, the cost of a card is extremely important because a more flexible card will always be better. At just two energy, Madame Web can be played early, allowing you to leverage the ability across multiple turns. Something as simple as Human Torch on Turn 1 into Madame Web on Turn 2 could be a decent opener.
Due to the low cost, I believe Madame Web can be a good influx of power for the Move archetype, although I doubt she will make it a powerhouse on her own (we’ll have to wait for Araña to join Marvel Snap for that).
If you know you will get Araña, Madame Web will be a great card to have. Otherwise, you could pin Madame Web and buy her with Collector’s Tokens once we know if Araña makes Move a menace.
Pre-Release Score:
Move decks
Move is obviously the main synergy you want to try with Madame Web first, although I anticipate the results will be a bit disappointing until Araña joins the party next week. As such, I think this Junk build will perform better for the time being because you won’t have to rely on your move cards to do all the work on their own.
If you feel Madame Web is enough for the synergy to click, though, feel free to give a pure Move deck a try. The one I suggested above has a Multiple Man package with Hulkbuster, and Symbiote Spider-Man looks like a great way to create a big card to move every turn with Madame Web. Feel free to build your ideal Move deck and see how it performs if you have different ideas!
Good Cards
The Good Cards archetype is one of the most flexible builds in Marvel Snap, so it might take a bit to find the perfect balance (if Madame Web manages to bring something interesting to the equation, that is).
I have included all three cards that you can leverage with the new 2-Cost—Angela, Hope Summers, and Elsa Bloodstone—to see how each benefits from Madame Web.
Apart from this core, these two decks also feature multiple synergies that I think are worth exploring. In the first build, you have Gladiator with some backup from U.S. Agent to make it more reliable in case you pull a 4-, 5-, or 6-Cost card. The other deck has a Mysterio package with Mockingbird and Sasquatch. The idea here is you can move a fake Mysterio to the other and destroy both with Lady Deathstrike to free some space.
In both decks, Killmonger, The Hood, and Lady Deathstrike are included because they seem to be a great trio in the Good Cards archetype lately.
Ongoing
I don’t expect Madame Web to revolutionize the Ongoing archetype, but the card does get buffed by Spectrum and I already mentioned some cute synergies with Cosmo, Armor, and Lizard. Also, you can move Man-Thing, U.S. Agent, or even Klaw if you feel that their abilities would perform better in another lane.
I also like the gimmick with Mojo, as you can move it to a lane where your opponent has four cards to activate it. Speaking of synergies around Mojo, Nebula and Jean Grey can also make it into this deck in order to force your opponent to play behind Jean Grey while you are able to move your cards somewhere else with Madame Web.
Ebony Maw and Goose could also make it into the deck because they synergize with Madame Web in addition to being Ongoing cards. But, except for Ebony Maw and Madame Web together, the deck needs more raw power rather than situational synergies.
Cerebro 3
I saw this idea in our decks page from Ankh and loved the creativity. I made a couple of swaps from their original build, but the perspective to create a ton of Multiple Mans with Madame Web to make lots of Cerebro targets is very exciting!
Lockdown
The Sandman archetype has been losing momentum lately, so maybe Madame Web can help it find a new gear by reviving the Lockdown archetype. Here, in addition to Sandman locking the opponent to one card on Turn 6, you have Storm to close a location (which Madame Web will make simple for you to reach if needed). This synergy already functions with Makkari and White Widow, and the deck never could find its perfect Turn 4 so why not try Jessica Jones instead of Captain Marvel? The former functions well with Storm, but also with Madame Web because you can move Jessica Jones after she gets her bonus four power if you want her somewhere else.
Variants
Closing Thoughts
Madame Web comes in as an obvious key piece for the Move synergy, but also as a potential flexible tool for a lot more archetypes. This second role is where I expect Madame Web to find her ticket into the meta. Plus, once Araña is available, we very well might see a lot more of Move, Bounce Move, and all sorts of decks that are looking to dance all over the board.
I hope this review of the new card was helpful. Feel free to share your opinions and excitement about the card in the comments. You can find everyone on the Marvel Snap Zone team in our community discord to have a chat or ask any questions.
Good Game Everyone!
