Gambit, Horseman of Death is the second Series 5 card joining Marvel Snap for the March 2026 Season, , X-Men: Origins of Apocalypse. It is a 3-Cost, 3-Power card that reads: Objective: Have 7 different Powers among your other cards in play +6 Power.

Today, let’s explore the new card strengths and, of course, the best decks to try it out in.

Series 5 cards can be purchased for 6,000 Collector’s Tokens from the Token Shop as the latest Seasonal Spotlight card. They will be also be included in the Seasonal Series 5 Snap Pack for 5,000 Collector’s Tokens during their season and the following one.

Synergies

Gambit Horseman of Death isn’t going to be for every deck, and might not see play in all of those able to complete the objective. Indeed, not only we have to play 5 energy worth of created cards, we also need to be in a metagame with good targets to destroy. 4 total cost of enemy cards is quite good, as it should represent from 6 to 10 power, effectively making Gambit, Horseman of Death a [3/11] on average, on top of possibly removing important abilities.

Think of the Thena, Jocasta, Chamber, Ravonna Renslayer, Mercury, Captain Carter, Isca the Unbeaten… all these are cards I would love to take out early in a match. Plus, Gambit Horseman of Death doesn’t require me to position it anywhere specific, nor work to grab priority for it to be good.

This is the great part about this new card : You can focus on your core synergy, and just play Gambit Horseman of Death when it is appropriate. In that sense, the card is more flexible than a Cosmo or such disruptive cards, which require a certain timing and placement.
Archetypes designed around creating cards typically have to adapt on the fly, depending on the cards they created. The new 3-cost fits that philosophy quite well.

Last, Gambit, Horseman of Death synergize with some pretty good cards of the current metagame, which is always important for a new card to see play:

They are a lot more, but these four cards are either strong standalone inclusions (Merlin, Iron Patriot), or the foundation of a fine archetype (Thanos, Arishem). As such, Gambit Horseman of Death can at least rely on those to find an early home, and show what it can do.

With just 5 energy worth of created cards required, I expect Gambit, Horseman of Death to end up in flexible decks rather than builds designed around solely creating cards. Thus,
looking for solid early cards able to complete the objective will be the best way for the new 3-cost to shine.

Ideally, we would like to complete the objective on turn four, which is quite difficult if we have to add the cost of Gambit Horseman of Death to the equation. Except for Agamotto, Thanos or Arishem who start with created cards in their deck, meaning we don’t have to spend energy to create, turn five probably is a more reasonable goal.

Unless Quinjet comes in on turn one obviously, and helps us cheat a ton of energy. In that case, we could consider a more combo oriented approach, and duplicate Gambit Horseman of Death to destroy 8 or 12 total cost worth of cards :

The Verdict: Should You Get Gambit, Horseman of Death?

If we manage to complete the objective early in the match, This Gambit could become the other one without the discard requirement. Against a lot of decks, destroying their 2 or 3-cost is enough to disrupt their plans. Plus, this would likely give us priority going forward in the match.

It won’t be simple to spend 5 energy on created card early on, on top of playing a 3-cost. Thus, I expect Gambit, Horseman of Death to go off later in a match, typically on turn five, and be closer to a random shooter rather than a sniper. Turn 4 would be great to hit certain foundational cards before the opponent is able to fully leverage their ability.
However, there is definitely some potential if we can make it a bit more precise, or throw in some energy cheats and duplicate abilities.
