The Zombie Horde synergy has massively improved with the OTA, but the streak of disappointing releases in October keeps on, as Zombie Captain Marvel is struggling early on.
Well, that isn’t entirely true. Indeed, one could argue Zombie Captain Marvel is a great card, maybe better than Zombie Scarlet Witch based on the performance of their respective archetypes.
However, this would completely dismiss the fact Zombie Scarlet Witch is a key card to her deck, when Zombie Captain Marvel is a mere addition to already refined Destroy decks.
Then, this week features two playable cards for opposite reasons. One got recently buffed to make it worth building around, when the other is weak but pertain to an excellent synergy.
For both, we have multiple decks with strong enough numbers to complete their associated missions, which is all that matter for this article. Yet, Zombie Captain Marvel has to step up if it wants to stay in decks once the missions are done.
| Mission | # | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Destroy Cards | 15 | 300 Credits |
| Win with Zombie Captain Marvel starting in your Deck | 4 | 400 Collector’s Tokens |
| Win with Zombie Scarlet Witch starting in your Deck | 8 | 200 Gold |

As much as I like the card, I must admit Zombie Captain Marvel has been struggling in the first days after its release, at every possible level must I add.
Indeed, the 4-cost is posting a negative win rate both below and once in the infinite ranks, while the cube average only barely passes neutral in the ranks below Infinite, with a 0.04 score.
There is hope however, since multiple Destroy based decks are posting solid numbers with Zombie Captain Marvel included. Unfortunately, most of those decks existed last week already, meaning the new card is probably getting carried by good builds rather than improving one.
Being part of the Destroy synergy means Zombie Captain Marvel is playable in multiple decks. However, the card has a lot to prove in order to compare to a Carnage or Venom, cards Zombie Captain Marvel typically comes after whenever we build a destroy based deck.

Zombie Scarlet Witch Performance

The OTA clearly had a great impact on Zombie Scarlet Witch, the season pass card now ranking amongst great cards before the infinite rank, and in the green both in win and cube averages once in the higher competitive spheres.
Deck wise, Zombie Scarlet Witch hasn’t changed anything compared to before her buff, except its performance. Indeed, all Zombie Horde decks have improved their numbers, and would easily be included in our next ranked tier list’s top two tiers at the moment.
With Zombie Sentry joining the fray through Grand Arena next week, Zombie Scarlet Witch should have everything it needs for a strong finish to the season.

Bonus Challenge Decks
Following the OTA, plenty of different builds around the Zombie Horde synergy emerged, making it quite difficult to identify the ones with the most potential. A week later, we have a clearer picture of the best performers, since most decks have several hundreds of games under their belt.
At the moment, it seems like all lists surrounds the Zombie cards with flexible elements, such as Madame Web, Mockingbird and Sasquatch, or Juggernaut. The goal seems to use the Zombie Horde as a source of points to anchor a location, and then be flexible regarding the other two.
Although its performance as a card is quite disappointing, Zombie Captain Marvel has multiple decks with a good track record, meaning we should complete the missions without much trouble.
Once again, the problem with the card isn’t the synergy it is tied to, it is the fact it doesn’t look good enough to be amongst the top 12 cards in most Destroy based decks.
