4. Ravonna Renslayer – 34 points (previously #3)

Ravonna Renslayer is an extremely underrated card in Marvel Snap, largely because Mobius M. Mobius came out a week later and directly countered her. Due to this, even though she was a Series 4 card, few people played her. Even so, those that did were treated to a surprisingly powerful card. She opened up new ways to play cards from Arnim Zola in Discard to Mystique as a game-winner in Darkhawk.

Ravonna isn’t really a part of the meta right now thanks to Mobius, but the game will continue to release and nerf cards to lower power, so she will get better and better over time. I really enjoyed this card and would be shocked if she didn’t find a home in Snap sooner or later.

  • “Ravonna is very good and could easily have been the #1 card in many other months.” – Bohe
  • “The power of cost reduction scales with the cards that are reduced. She doesn’t have enough cards in her ‘pool’ to make her good currently.” – Nerfherder
  • “Underwhelming. It’s an effect that’s too good to cost cheap meaning she needs to be a one or two drop but that’s way too OP so she falls short at three cost.” – Perrox

3. Mobius M. Mobius – 88 points (previously #1)

Everyone thought Mobius would be the best, but… he fell to #3? What happened? Well, everyone went and bought Mobius immediately. He went in nearly every deck and the meta warped around him. People were unable to play cost reduction like Sera or card stuffing like Wave. Mobius made people play honest Snap. He’s effective, but so effective that, like Shang-Chi, he just became normal. He’s a meta staple now – not exciting, but omnipresent. Plus, we got another meta staple with a much fancier effect.

  • “It’s actually insane how MMM could be ranked third this month was dumb.” – W
  • “I rank him first because I believe he will have the longest-lasting impact.” – Wolverthor
  • “He’s like Corey Feldman – you don’t listen to his music, but you’re glad he exists. Ka-chow!” – Mike Bollow
  • “The new Zabu, aka a staple in anything that can support it.” – TheCounterGuy
  • “My main reason for ranking Mobius above Alioth is cost; cards with this much utility at such a low cost are bound to have more of an impact.” – Peaceful Sea

2. Alioth – 103 points (previously #2)

I honestly didn’t think anything would remove Shang-Chi from the metagame, but here we are. Alioth has absolutely warped not just the meta, but how one must approach the endgame in Marvel Snap. What other card could make Crossbones part of the meta?

By changing the endgame for all decks, Alioth has changed how the early game must function. Priority, something you haven’t really wanted since the heyday of Aero, is now as important as ever. That means early-game power cards have an increased focus, which is why we’re seeing the re-rise of Move and the BroodMe decks. Alioth is very simply one of the strongest things to do in all of Marvel Snap.

  • “The most impactful card in the game right now.” – den
  • Alioth is too ‘ultimatum’ of a card to not be nerfed. It just says to the opponent: I don’t care what you played, I won and there’s nothing you can do about it. It’s basically similar in toxicity and power level to Leech before he was nerfed, except after Leech your opponent can escape and save some cubes, but after a win thanks to Alioth you take all the cubes without giving your opponent a chance to escape.” – Kirallas
  • “This card makes everyone fight for priority going into Turn 6. Alioth makes you second guess your last turn as well as kill Galactus in the process.” – Prashaun
  • “The heir to Leader and Doctor Doom as the card everyone has to plan their final turn around, and a benchmark I hope the current 6-Cost cards get elevated to.” – TeddyNinja
  • “Needs to ONLY destroy the last card played in that lane.” – SuperTechGod
  • Alioth is a good 6-drop, impact overblown and punishes bad play, but I fully expect they will change him.” – SafetyBlade
  • “Would be #1 for your average player, but for top-level, Loki wins.” – SavageYeti

1. Loki – 109 points (previously #4)

I still think it’s wild that we all thought Loki would be mid. A huge part of me is curious about what the internal testing at Second Dinner said. I would assume it didn’t say that it was completely busted, as the card was likely tested alongside Alioth and Mobius M. Mobius, but, honestly, who knows?

Either way, Loki is not just good, he’s an entirely new deck. What was the last card that created a whole new archetype from scratch? High Evolutionary? The impact of Loki can only be compared to a Big Bad that utterly warped the game and led to multiple nerfs. That makes sense since Loki has already led to about as many nerfs as Evolutionary did.

The Collector and Kitty Pryde were Loki‘s first victims, and soon the new Snowguard was taken down a huge peg, as well. The past couple of weeks saw draw cards reworked and redesigned, as Maria Hill, Cable, and, of all cards, Mantis were pivotally changed.

Are we done? Is Loki balanced now? Or is the sleeping (frost) giant just awaiting new tournaments to dominate?

  • “If they don’t rework Loki, he will ALWAYS be meta-relevant. Think a rework is inevitable, but I’m not gonna measure based on that because it’s not obvious how they’ll fix him.” – LaurenWhatever
  • Loki is incredibly strong and at the top of the meta for a reason. It’s relatively cheap, has a solid base power, and, in a best-case scenario, gives you over half of your opponent’s deck at a discount while simultaneously buffing up his good buddy The Collector. Insane.” – CallMeSal
  • “Pretty obvious one this, cost reduction has always been one of the strongest metrics in the game, and when you can pair that with cards like The Collector, numbers get big. The first week of the season with all the mirror matches was crazy.” – Devilish
  •  “Loki – too strong at five power. I would like to see a power or two shaved off.” – LilRobitussin
