Top New Cards of the Loki For All Time Season!

We rallied more than 50 of the top Marvel Snap content creators to give us their predictions on the best cards the Loki For All Time season has to offer.

Hello everyone, and welcome to Top 5! I’m Glazer of Snap Judgments: The Official Marvel Snap Zone Podcast, and every week, we’ll be counting down a different Top 5 things you need to know in, around, and about Marvel Snap! Sometimes this will be silly in nature, but we’ll always have some pearls of wisdom to help make you the best (and best adjusted!) Marvel Snap player you can be! This week? The Top 4 New Cards of the Loki For All Time Season.

This is a prediction article. Today, you can find the combined statistical ranking of over 50 of our favorite Content Creators before the season began. Every single vote was prior to the Season’s release. When we do this again at the end of the season, we’ll compare that to what the standings were at this time. 4. Loki – 89 points

We are so bad at evaluating cards. Whether it’s Ghost being a meta card (I bought this one) or Legion being terrible (I didn’t buy this one), the community as a whole is just not good at predictions. Of the over 50 creators I polled, including literally the best card evaluator I know (Drewberry), a genius creator (Collins), and the literal best player in the game (Lamby), only one had Loki ranked #1 – our own SafetyBlade. It’s unsurprising, then, that his deck has proven early on to be the very best shell for the card.

Why were we wrong? Well, we didn’t consider just how important -1 cost was, for starters. Sera for one turn can be overpowered. For two to three turns? That’s wild. We didn’t really understand that-2 cost with Quinjet was completely broken. We didn’t foresee The Collector with 30+ Power. We all forgot that people generally put good cards in their decks. Oh well! It’s been three days since I ran this poll, and I cannot imagine anyone having Loki lower than second now. He’s one of the best cards in the game.

3. Ravonna Renslayer – 90 points

I think Ravonna is probably more of a complementary card that you can build with rather than an MVP that you can build around. Perhaps she replaces Bast in Mister Negative decks to give those powerful cards a boost. Perhaps she goes in a Sera deck to help a new style have major power to play. Perhaps she goes in Destroy to enable Arnim Zola and Knull. Or, perhaps she doesn’t fit anywhere at all.

If the game lasts long enough, she will eventually be great. More 0- and 1-Power cards will inevitably be printed. Eventually, we will hit a critical mass of them. When that happens, Ravonna Renslayer will be waiting. I learned from Loki. Cost reduction is OP.

2. Alioth – 147 points

As a 6-Cost card, Alioth is far less oppressive than as a 5-Cost. In the latter case, he could be played and copied far more easily. But less oppressive doesn’t mean he’s not great. I’ll be honest, though, I’m using context to figure out that he’s probably great. To explain, I’m going to talk about COVID-19, so if you don’t care about that or it triggers you, skip the next paragraph.

At the start of the pandemic, there was a lot of hysteria. It was hard to tell at first what was real and what wasn’t. Was this going to be just another bird flu, i.e. bad but stopped before it ended the world? The exact moment I knew it was going to be really bad was when the NBA stopped. When the NCAA tournament stopped. When Harvard and Yale sent all their students home. When the greediest people on earth stopped making billions of dollars for the pandemic, I knew it was real. The same thing is true of the most powerful people in the world pulling their kids from school. But what’s that got to do with Marvel Snap?

Well, Second Dinner has told us that they feel they are under-designing 5- and 6-Cost cards. We got Loki this season, and that card is pushed and completely busted. We’re also getting Mobius M. Mobius – also pushed and likely completely busted. It’s hard for me to imagine they added two more extremely powerful mid-cost cards and under-designed yet another high-cost card. This is the flashiest effect in months. It’ll be worth it.

1. Mobius M. Mobius – 176 points

Quinjet, Loki, Ravonna Renslayer, Zabu, Sera, Beast, Mister Negative.

She-Hulk, Death, Evolved Abomination, Swarm, Sabretooth.

Iceman, Baron Mordo.

Elysium, The Peak, The Ice Box, Titan, Dream Dimension.

Wave. Wave. WAVE.

This card is going to be broken as all heck. Almost everyone had it as their #1. Even with a broken Loki, it’s still the answer and still #1. This doesn’t just feel like it’ll have a high win rate like Legion, or like it opens up new decks like High Evolutionary, or that it’s crazy powerful in enabling decks like X-23. Well, it feels like all of those – but, more importantly, this feels like it will be a meta staple like Shang-Chi or Killmonger. That’s just different. Or, at least, that’s what all of these creators are betting on.
