Welcome to our new series of Marvel Snap guides, where we feature a Series 4 or 5 card and analyze how to use it. The goal is to give you a tutorial on how to use the card most effectively in an everchanging meta, as well as help you decide if the card is worth the tokens or if you should pick it up during a Spotlight Cache week!
We will aim to revise this guide each time it becomes featured in a Spotlight Cache. If the card becomes rebalanced or the meta has changed a lot, please let us know in the comments and we will look to update it based on demand!

Series 4 cards can be purchased for 3,000 Collector’s Tokens from the Token Shop initially as a Weekly Spotlight card, or opened as one of the featured cards in the Spotlight Caches that are found every 120 Levels on the Collection Level Track after Collection Level 500 (until the next new card releases the following week).
Who is Ravonna Renslayer?

Ravonna Renslayer is a princess with a complicated history. Through the involvement of Kang, she died and was revived. This created multiple versions of herself. These versions would be vastly different, with some being heroic, some villainous, one a pirate, and one (most recognizably) judge of the Time Variance Authority (TVA). Ravonna doesn’t have any powers or abilities. She does have a high intellect and is proficient in combat.

In the MCU, she is presented as the judge of the TVA. She is allied with Mobius in the fight to preserve the sacred timeline of the multiverse. The base art for Snap implies she is also represented as the judge of the TVA.
How to Use Ravonna Renslayer
Ravonna Renslayer is a cost reduction tool. She allows cards to be played early, sets up for combos, and opens up new play lines. With an increasing amount of good cards being 1 or less Power, Ravonna acts as a cheap Sera that helps twist a card’s low Power disadvantage into an advantage.
The card has no direct interaction with the board state or with the other player. Instead, she relies on other cards in your deck in order to get value. Essentially, Ravonna is the enabling combo piece of a lot or decks. Her synergies help illustrate how to use her best.
Best Synergies
After seeing a nerf several months ago, Professor X dropped to 1 Power to make him more risky of a play. This low power opened up the option for a Ravonna combo that allows you to lock down a location on turn 4, which could surprise your opponent and give you 2 turns to secure another location.

A very popular synergy is with Mister Negative, as she synergizes in multiple ways. First, she can lower his cost and make him playable on turn 3 to get maximum value from inverted cards. Secondly, most cards you want to invert also qualify to be targets for Ravonna! This means cards not inverted can still be discounted, which can help with combo abilities.

Ravonna’s discount also allows you to play new combinations of cards on the same turn. Iron Man and Mystique can combine on turn 6 with their discounts to surprise your opponent with doubling 2 location’s Power! This also works with Green Goblin and Hobgoblin, allowing both to be played on turn 6 (though this is less beneficial to hold until turn 6). Other card combos like Patriot and Mystique can also be played early, or be saved until turn 6 with extra Energy available for more card plays.

Best Deck
This junk deck is one of the most recent decks that utilize Ravonna well. With early game setups using Nebula and White Widow, Ravonna’s synergy with Professor X can secure an early location win. This let’s you use Cannonball and Red Hulk to secure your second location. Her discount also gives you more energy flexibility with Green Goblin!
With new low Power cards being made and changes over balance updates, the “best” Ravonna deck is likely to shift. Make sure to check out our current meta lists to see where she stands.
Fun Off-Meta Deck
Cerebro has always been a fan favorite deck, and Ravonna slots perfectly into Cerebro 3. She discounts Cerebro, Mystique, and Iron Man, making the deck more flexible. Bast does have anti-synergy with Ravonna, since adding Power to these cards will also remove the Cost discount, so be cautious about when or when not to play Bast.
Weaknesses and Things to Avoid
Ravonna’s obvious counter is Mobius. Losing the discount ability makes her a simple [2/3].

Ravonna also loses her ability to Ongoing disabling cards like Echo, Rogue, and Enchantress. If you avoid playing onto echo, you can always protect Ravonna from these counters with a Cosmo.

Closing Thoughts
In her current state, Ravonna has evolved into a solid card that many decks rely on. With an ever increasing list of cards that can utilize her well, Ravonna is nearing a point of being a deckbuilding necessity. I think this card is definitely worth owning and may be needed to stay meta relevant.
