The OTA Balance Update didn’t show any impact to the meta yet, except for new synergies rising in popularity, but no so much in the performance department. The most improved archetype looks to be Ramp, a deck which does not run either of this week’s mission cards.
Then, nothing has changed for Mister Fantastic First Steps, which keeps representing the best flexible option in the game, powering any sort of strategies interested in more power or energy. Except if your deck cannot run the card for synergistic purposes, the current season pass probably should be in your 12 cards.
As for the new release, Mister Fantastic First Steps mostly looked like a good enough card to be included in high profile archetypes, such as Silver Surfer or High Evo Fantasticar. However, the card does not add any layer of synergy nor strategy to those decks. You simply play it on turn three, and remember to fill its lane on turn six. If you run plenty of buffs, you can also keep it in hand and play it later to double its power.
The missions should be a walk in the park, but don’t expect to explore any new strategy while completing them.
| Mission | # | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Play 3-Cost Cards | 15 | 150 Credits |
| Win with Human Torch First Steps starting in your Deck | 4 | 300 Collector’s Tokens |
| Win with Mister Fantastic First Steps starting in your Deck | 8 | 150 Gold |
Human Torch First Steps Performance

It is difficult to give an honest grade to the new 3-cost, as Human Torch First Steps mostly plays with the top cards in the game. High Evo Fantasticar, Silver Surfer or Small Good Cards make it easy to achieve great results as long as you synergize with their core idea.
Then, the best assessment for Human Torch First Steps is to consider it strong enough to be part of those decks, which already tells a lot. There are easily 15 cards fighting for those 12 slots, and they arguably are all great in the current Marvel Snap.
I don’t think anyone will be disappointed in the card, but its necessity can still be questioned. Indeed, all the archetypes running Human Torch First Steps were doing great last week as well, when the card wasn’t available.

Mister Fantastic First Steps Performance

The popularity has reduced quite a lot compared to the first week, especially if we look at the Infinite Ranks. Yet, this is probably due to players exploring different synergies now that they reached their early season goal.
Otherwise, anyone looking at the top performing decks, before or after the OTA, will find Mister Fantastic First Steps in a lot of them. It is only logic, as the only two reasons not to run the card is a very synergistic deck or not owning it. As soon as we look at any flexible archetype, such as Silver Surfer, Good Cards, Iron Hand, or a deck looking for buffs like Nimrod, you can be sure Mister Fantastic First Steps will be in the starting line-up.

Bonus Challenge Decks
Human Torch First Steps has been almost exclusively played in two archetypes so far : Silver Surfer and the High Evo Fantasticar, both containing Mister Fantastic First Steps as well. Small Good Cards is another option to consider, once again with both cards included.
Then, the weekend missions can be achieved separately if you have only one of the two cards. Yet, you should naturally complete them together if you own both.
