The OTA had a significant impact on the performance of Star-Lord, Master of the Sun, but it might only be temporary. Indeed, while the Ramp deck is doing worse, up to the point lists are starting to swap some cards to find a new balance, another archetype progressed a ton : Negative Destroy.
The season pass card was already included in that deck, as a back-up plan in case Mister Negative didn’t show up in time. However, when our signature card was played early, Star-Lord, Master of the Sun, basically disappear from our gameplan, as a now [4/5] was had little reason to play.
Following the nerf, the card is now a [3/4] once negatived, suddenly representing a great turn 5 play if Jane Foster Mighty Thor was missing. Indeed, with the extra 2 or 3 energies, we can mix our negatived cards with the ones at full prices, and still craft an explosive last turn.
At the moment, this is about the biggest change the OTA had on the metagame, which could be have repercussions down the line. Indeed, if Mister Negative is back, Mobius M. Mobius has a reason to return, and a new cycle of proactive – disruptive cards might start.
This could also have a positive impact on the other card we’ll play this weekend : Jack Flag. Not that the card is particularly good, but it sees play in Ongoing decks, which could improve immensely if Mobius M. Mobius joins Cosmo as another prevalent disruptive card in the near future.
| Mission | # | Reward |

| Win with Star-Lord, Master of the Sun starting in your Deck | 8 | 150 Gold |
Jack Flag Performance

Overall, Jack Flag is quite popular compared to its results, below parallel at all ranks. The card fits in multiple archetypes, which explains the popularity for a card otherwise not very exciting.
However, Jack Flag has yet to prove itself, as the results tell me other cards would likely improve those decks much more.

Star-Lord, Master of the Sun

Before the OTA, the season pass card already had different results in the Infinite ranks compared to the rest of the ladder. With the balance update, that gap has grown even wider, to the point Star-Lord, Master of the Sun isn’t looking good at the highest level of play.
It might just be the need to adapt a bit, as there are multiple decks with a good track record since the OTA. Mister Negative in particular, seems to be quite happy with that buff. I’m curious to see what the record says if most players would switch to that archetype rather than stick to the nerfed Ramp list.

Bonus Challenge Decks
Jack Flag and Star-Lord, Master of the Sun have nothing in coming, so completing both missions at once is probably a bad idea. However, both cards have several decks with decent results, meaning it shouldn’t be too much of a bother to get some wins with either cards.
Obviously, the OTA did hurt the season pass card, especially the Ramp deck using Alioth and Fin Fang Foom as well. New builds are starting to pop, showing Star-Lord, Master of the Sun remains a solid card to build around.
However, the best archetype is now Negative Destroy, a list buffed with the OTA as Mister Negative now improves the nerfed season pass.
There isn’t much to say about Jack Flag. The card makes sense in decks with buffs as their primary way to get points. However, it is pretty clear the card isn’t core to any of those synergies, just a fine card in an already built deck.
